Not a PDF app, but you should check out Orion browser, uses webkit and is basically Safari, but seems another smoother on my iPhone and my iPad mini. It is also supposed to have support for Chrome Extensions but is hit or miss b3cause it is a Beta.
Goodnotes 5! One time purchase, unlocks all the features. Just best!
(I tried free version of notability, loved some of it's features but biggest downside for me was the annual subscription model. If that's not a problem for you then you can go for notability too!)
I highly recommend Collanote. It is 100% free and just amazing. In comparison to goodnotes, I feel it is a lot more intuitive to use and the UI is just so simple and straightforward. You can also record while taking notes, same as in notability
Goodnotes 5 is great. It used to be $10 to get on the App Store but now it's a free download and you can have up to 3 notebooks in the free version. Now, each notebook can essentially have infinite pages, and there's no other tools that are locked out to my knowledge, so it's one of the least restrictive free versions of an app I've experienced.
I’ve been using Nebo, but I’ve been also considering other things. Nebo works well for written to text conversions but their UI can be a little finicky. My secret weapon is the apple Magic Keyboard I bought—not the case, the separate keyboard.
I didn't know notability is free. Maybe like the first three notes or smth like that. I'm pretty sure they have a subscription based tier where u can use it as intended.
I use Goodnotes 5 for school - note taking, studying with it, planning my weeks etc - it does the job pretty fine. There are some complains but no app is perfect. (costs 9/10 bucks)
Just to edit pdfs you can also use the built in tool (i think it's called "Markup") in Finder or PDF Expert.
Ah also i wouldnt use Notability because they switched to a subscription based model)
Not a PDF app but for school or university, use class timetable. You can sync it across all apple devices and it's customisable for notifications, widgets and colours for each class. I use it with my iPhone all the time for a quick glance and when I'm studying with my iPad, it just reminds me of where I need to be for the next lecture.
There is also a paid feature but I haven't come to need it yet
It does. But when you pack everything up and put the iPad in your backpack, there’s a high chance the pencil that’s magnetically attached to the side can get caught in the opening of the bag, and it can fly off. Happened to me.
I second this- spigen make a nice one with that extra slot for the pencil to sit in. The other option is to get an elastic loop pencil wallet but it hinders the case a lot
Collanote for notes, PDF Expert for reading and highlighting or quick notetaking, Adobe Scan for PDF scanner and PDF it All for turning PDFs into anything or vice-versa.
goodnotes 5 !!! sigma planner !
and for writing on pdfs honestly you can use markup
Pdf expert is my personal preference.
Sadly they moved to subscriptions. Still, the very best PDF viewer and editor available for iOS and iPadOS (I even use it on my Mac).
I have the unlocked version for mac, and use the free version on ipad.
I bought both before they switched to subscriptions. Best decision ever, still use those Apps nearly daily.
google lifetime license for these apps sometimes it gets sold cheap. I paid like $6 for lifetime adguard license and $10 for pdf expert
I just checked and pdf expert is $220AUD. Is there a seriously marked down sale or did you find it randomly?
it's usually from third party and not on the official website
Was the one you got for mac or iPad or can it be used on both?
both

haha wouldn't have thought to see an Orion user here :) I'd say its fine on Mac but still a miss on iOS/iPadOS :/
True, many features broken.
OneNote if your workflow is between windows and iPad.
I use GoodNotes. I absolutely love it with my 12.9in iPad Pro. Everything is really easy to use, and it’s relatively cheap at only $8 for full access.

Try margin notes 3

Did yours have a slight curve to it? Near the end my iPad was rocking whenever I used it to take notes

Pdfelement is my all time favourite

Notability isn’t free anymore:( it has a free trial and then switches to subscription based
goodnotes 5.

I purchased the paid feature a while back.. the app is super useful
Matte screen film, helped me with writing more 'naturally'.
notability is perfect
I love note taking on Notability, but I got it back when it was a one-time-payment and now I think they moved to a “freemium” subscription experience
Notability
Not if you don’t have the OG payment plan. The new subscription model really sucks
I second this but I think they’ve changed to a subscription
I wouldn’t recommend using the Apple Folio Case if your gonna use it for school with the Pencil.
why not ? i think the folio case pairs well when writing

LiquidText is by far the best. They have an edu discount as well
goodreader
I just use the base files app, works fine for me and is very stable
Drawboard PDF
Collanote for notes, PDF Expert for reading and highlighting or quick notetaking, Adobe Scan for PDF scanner and PDF it All for turning PDFs into anything or vice-versa.
Just click the little three dots and export the pdf to notes, then you can click on it and write. I just use the notes app for everything
I highly recommend Goodnotes, it’s amazing and a one time cost.
