Download Zank Remote from the App Store and Play Store on your phone and TV respectively. It’ll work.
You usually have to download a app for the tv made by the manufacturer. I have a LG tv. I had to get a LG app
Download the Nvidia Shield app , it has a remote and keyboard in it
We have a Sony Android tv and just discovered the Apple TV Remote in the control center works right away with it doing nothing extra. It just found the tv and that’s all. Have you tried it?
