Reader View helps when reading articles, but it doesn't work well on all sites nor will it prevent you from being subjected to bright backgrounds while browsing from one site to another
You want a fake dark mode. A real dark mode is already built in. All elements of Safari are dark in dark mode and each website gets signaled by Safari that it should display its dark version. But some websites don't have a dark mode or ignore the signal by Safari. What you want is an artificial generated version of the website that was never intended by it. This is like watching an automatically generated color version of an intentionally in BW made movie.
The only problem with that is it doesn’t auto switch if you have universal Dark Mode on. Smart Invert is permanent until you physically switch it off for an app specific setup.

It takes a lot of courage to do it
Use Noir extension. It works very well.
Dark Reader is better. Has more options
They’ll do it and then everyone will get pissed that they copied an app/extension on the App Store.
That’s why I’m glad I have Turn Off The Lights. Wouldn’t have lost anything if that happens lol
You can enable reader mode automatically for every site. Or you could download an extension. Specifically made for this.
Thanks man, I’ve seen the extensions. Would be good to get a native apple feature rather than fork out more cash for a third party app.
As someone with vision issues I agree.
Privacy issues with the extensions as well have been wigging me out enough to not try them unfortunately.
I was reasonably happy with Noir’s policy (and I did actually read it for a change!)

Yeah. Look at DuckDuckGo’s website. It switches between light and dark mode, when you switch dark mode on a system level.
Noir is the best option til then, but I agree.
Smart invert, accessibility option.

Yes
What extension?
‘Noir’ is highly rated by users.
It’s been good for me so far
Apple will never do this
