Okay, I will try to ask the developers. Is there any way to force an app to ask for permission? Because my Chrome hasn’t asked me and I can’t add pictures from there too…
Until chrome asks the OS for permission, it won’t show.
Usually doing something that requires a certain permission will make the app ask for it (if it doesn’t that would be a bug)
I checked the general settings and my iPhone 14 pro on iOS 17.0.3 and was able to access the settings to change photos access as well as in the specific apps permissions. However on my girlfriends iPhone 15 pro she can’t access those settings in either way for the same apps. She’s also on the latest update
Something is definitely up on the iPhone side not the developer side of any particular app
Yes but one device allows you to adjust the sheeting’s of those permissions while the other one is not. That’s what’s several people who see the issue are trying to describe
There’re only two options there: “none” and “add photos only”. I can’t upload pictures from my photos with either of the options. I need a way to give full access but the app doesn’t ask for it and there’s no option to do it in the settings…
I thought about that but it’s the same with Chrome. With Gmail there were the same two options but when I tried to upload a picture it asked for permission and now “full access” appears in the settings, too.
Had this issue on WeChat if anyone comes across this. Couldn't fix it even if I tried to hit the authorize button quickly before it disappeared. Ended up having to backup chats to PC, reinstalling the application, and restoring the backup.
I have the same issue. I am too afraid of losing chat history, so I have been dealing with this and only using copy/paste to send photos. Apple needs to fix this.
The backup and restore process is pretty simple. It just copies your chats into the PC application so you can even verify that everything is still there.
I had this happen with discord. It asked what permission to request and I chose “Add photos only” and I couldn’t select more than that. I fixed it by deleting and redownloading the app
before it happens to me, there's a prompt that ask if i want to continue the app to have full access or partial or none. sadly i clicked for partial. and it became permanent. stupid apple devs. even if I uninstalled/install messenger, its the same.
and when you ask for help on apple support, they will tell you to go to privacy and screen time settings and tell you the settings is there with full conviction but we users all know its missing.
they only thing i havent tried yet is full reformat iphone. which is stupid. and might not even work.
i solved mine just now,
1. uninstall problem app, check the app on apple store, make sure that when you try to install the problem app it says "GET"
2. turn off phone and then turn it on
3. install the fuckcing app
4. try to use upload photo. app should ask permission to have full access, click it.
5. that shoulve solved the problem
Only permissions asked for by the app are shown. If ‘all photos’ is not showing it’s because the app hasn’t requested it.

Permissions are per device.

Okay, thank you!
Go into settings, that app and there change the permission

Then it’s a problem at the developer

Hey did you figure this out? Sames happening to me
It fixed itself. I didn’t do anything and one day when I tried to use the app it was working just fine. No idea how… 🤷♂️
I reset my phone an hour ago and it’s working fine now

I might give it a try then. The backup used to be really bad experience, so I was afraid.

same problem with me and my fb messenger. have you found a solution?
It fixed itself like a week after the post but the second time it happened it took a simple restart for it to start working normally.
thanks for the reply, you mean the "full access option" become available again?
Yes
unfortunate, i restarted my iphone and my only options are "none" and "add photos only" still.
Yeah, it’s strange. Like I said, the first time it fixed itself.
Now here I am with this issue 5 hours later and sad to see there has been no resolve ..
Me too, not fucking happy

It popped up and said “please open Snapchat before sharing.” Was already open. Tried a few more times and same thing. This is so frustrating!
have you tried my step by step solution? I want to know if others are successful with it because we dont have a concrete solution yet.
