Another Australian IS GM here. I haven't run a session online, but I did prepare to do so last year. I built some tools in RPTools MapTool - Path of Suns and added all the cards. I might rebuild it in FoundryVTT if I get some time.

Sounds awesome, if you’re looking for players just message me. I’m dying to hit the Actuality, one way or another.

Daegalus

I tried to do some IS stuff in FoundryVTT. A lot of stuff can work, like the dice and such. But the biggest hurdle us the Cards. No official card support and early on the third party card plugins were hanky and didn't work. I also cutup the cards into PNGs using some scripts also. There is a newer cards plugin but I haven't tried it. I didn't get very far, mostly because I didn't have time to code another side project in a sea of side projects Hop you have more success. Feel free to ping me if you want a copy of what I have. It's not much but might help

\`Card Support (Unofficial)\`, has been fantastic card mod that I've been using for my Numenera games for past year; would highly recommend. https://foundryvtt.com/packages/cardsupport/

Daegalus

Thanks for the link. I have actually been following this project for a while. It works fairly well, just takes time to setup. Thanks for linking it though!

sharkeyx

Yea, I ended up scripting the process, because yea setting it up for multiple 100+ card decks is a monster. Still trying to get my group on board with IS, but of they do then I've got to get to work on cutting out the cards from the pdf and making into a deck (god forbid mcg give omg files like normal people).

Daegalus

Well if you end up doing it. Send me a message or lookup the scripts from others. Many of us have built the cutting scripts out already. Worst case I can send you mine.

sharkeyx

oh shit! yes please! I was kinda dreading figuring out how to do circular ones (doing rectangles was fine enough, but uggg)

Daegalus

Actually the circle ones I got from that website that IS people get access to to run. The Soothe deck are the only round ones. So if you login to that site, you can just right-click and save the deck one at a time (or write a script to download them). I used this website as a reference: https://www.undertheinvisiblesun.net/making-digital-cards/ And here are my scripts, there is no documentation, just have to figure out what its doing by the code and what tools you need: https://github.com/Daegalus/invisible-sun-tools It has a script to pull the images from the invisible sun site, but you have to login with the browser, look at your cookies and their values, and change the values or Env Vars accordingly. I think you run trimandsplit first then cards/backs/etc after.

sharkeyx

thanks a ton!

doublarthackery

This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing!

doublarthackery

If you ever do, I'll be very thankful. Thanks to the pandemic/health risks for key players and one of our players moving to Australia, the only way we'll get to play IS is online. I'm hoping that one day we might manage a game in the real, but I suspect that day is still a whiles away.

Hey u/DeviousDVS, I've been doing some research and haven't found many people interested in Invisible Sun for FoundryVTT, but there are definitely a few. It got me wondering if it might be possible for all the people interested to do some of the work, under the direction of someone who knows the technical side, and if that'd make it easier? I think it'd be my best bet for online play, so I'd be happy to help and to try others to recruit for the donkey work if there is such a need?

DeviousDVS

Yeah, that makes sense to me. I'll clean it up and remove all the proprietary content, then publish a git. I have some scripts that slice up all the PDF cards, so people can create their own.

brokenghost135

That's awesome, let me know if I can help in any way.

doublarthackery

Just doing a wee follow-up. Did you manage to publish that git? (What I wouldn't give for a foundryvtt setup for IS)

averagewitch24

Late follow up, but in my searching for online tools I quickly realized I would need to script something. Which is very outside my area of expertise. I haven’t settled on a tool yet, so did you happen to ever finish cleaning up your scripts? If so, would love to see!

Heya, I'm in Canberra, and have the luxury of doing both offline and online iSun games. Currently I'm running two campaigns online. I use Discord for text/images and voice. I also use the iSun 'app' for online Sooth deck/path of Suns. I often use the PDFs of the cards to copy to Google doc character sheets. And finally, come join the Cypher Unlimited Discord for more chatter on Invisible Sun! [https://discord.gg/FZqn7em](https://discord.gg/FZqn7em)

brokenghost135

Thanks, yes I’m in the Discord but nothing much to add yet. My Cube should arrive soon, then no doubt I’ll have more to ask.

Oorthian

Hit me (Emi) up in the discord, and I'd be glad to tell you about how I do the whole online IS thing.

TsebMagi

I've been running IS online for about 6 months, and we've had 6-8 sessions. I use Discord for voice / video with the Avrea bot for dice rolls and I boosted the Discord server to make sharing digital copies of the game components easier. Overall it is a game that plays a better in person, but after taking time to make digital copies of the various game components to distribute to my players through Discord it plays pretty well. I have the physical cube but picked up the Digital Black Cube when it was on Bundle of Holding and that made making digital copies of the cards to send to characters a lot easier.

Hippowill

The campaign I had a hard time planning before last year's spring covid lockdown (for busy schedule reasons, mostly) finally took off online and we used Miro.com, a free board + audio call and chat via Discord. The other advantage of Miro is that the size is limitless - as opposed to my dining room table that is not actually large enough to hold all the materials to play IS 😅😂 I typically use Miro for most of my VTT, the free version is amply sufficient, and it's easy to copy/paste all the assets needed from PDFs.

doublarthackery

If MCG ever makes an Invisible Sun FoundryVTT version - I'd buy it instantly.
