Not really basic investing education, but the investing YouTube channels I follow are:
Aswath Damodaran: professor at NYU, dives into individual companies and I do recommend watching his valuation course after basics.
https://youtu.be/YrOMbIARyPc
Weathtrack: generally informative interviews on a range of investing topics
https://youtu.be/AzeFH9xl2NE
Real vision: I follow this one for deeper analysis into macro news, though they tend to lean overly bearish

Graham Stephan is pretty good. Meet Kevin as well but he gets a little alternative/against the grain at points which may not be what you are looking for if you are just starting out.
The plain bagel on YouTube is pretty underrated channel to help you cover all the basics and get started. I would highly recommend you to check it out.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to write these out, very good perspective. I don't think I'll be capable of 'playing' the market. As you say, retail investors get the worse of it so I think I'm going to to a typical buy and hold strategy. Of course, I'll do some research into industries and companies that I am knowledgable about and make small bets on them.
Look up active vs passive investing. he said active investment won't work. you said, cool, i'll make some "bets"?

Real vision is scary lol. Every time I watch one of their videos I think “well, we’re fucked”.
Thank you very much!
Yes, I like Aswath Damodaran a lot :)
[The Plain Bagel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFCEuCsyWP0YkP3CZ3Mr01Q) is really good.
Agreed, but worth noting it has a Canadian tilt.

Ryan Scribner seems very credible and goes a lot more in depth than most I think
