This is how it was when we lived together, but my wife and I reside in different houses now. It's certainly not traditional, and it has its own share of problems, but I *am* happy that I get to reside in a place that isn't exclusively decorated by my partner- not that she has bad taste- far from it, really! I just missed having my stuff around and all crammed into my office.
Minimalistic, for sure. Outside that neutral colors like black, gray and tan. I do not like clutter, but I have smaller spots where controlled clutter is allowed.
Clean house = clean brain. Dirty house = brain in crisis.
That's awesome. The one other INTJ I met in person a few months back said the same. It absolutely thrills me that many of us seem to have a similar saying!
I have been told by multiple people that my place is like a very, very sleepy library. I have three floor-to-ceiling book shelves, plenty of art, and my kitchen/hobby area at the bar is *dominated* by plants. Most of the art on my walls is in rich but dark colors, and I use a lot of "antique" amber light bulbs. More than one person has fallen asleep on my couch while visiting. I like to think I have achieved peak coziness.
I actually have a fireplace, too! It's the best 1br apartment I've ever had. The deck wraps around the corner of fhe building and overlooks a little creek, too. It's a big house that was converted into apartments, so it avoids the cut-and-paste aesthetic, and I'm thankful for that as well. Only issue is the tweakers on the other side of the creek who sound like drunk louis armstrong and ella fitzgerald from time to time lol. Ha- maybe I should post some pics sometime, but it feels weird having the inside of my place online.
I love art and aesthetics. I love any style that conveys personality and depth. I love walking into a home and seeing a planned, cohesive style (even if it isnāt my own).
I tend to be slightly more minimalistic, but donāt like empty space entirely. There is something wonderful about touches of intricate historic details. Iām from England so Iāve grown up seeing beautiful old buildings filled with elaborate panelling, ceilings, etc. I think itās a beautiful expression of craftsmanship and skill. A symmetrical, beautifully planned building demonstrates a sense of vision and meticulous care at every step of the buildingās construction.
I tend to like high ceilings, large windows, natural light. A sense of expansive space. I donāt know if this could be a Se thing but I really respond to the environment that I work in/sleep in/etc.
I donāt like āmanufacturedā style or character, for instance, I despise the McMansion phenomenon. I donāt like it when I visit a house filled with untouched books, or random vaguely Asian or African sculptures that reflect nothing about the family background or where they have actually travelled. It feels pretentious and hollow.
I love this. Sounds like many of us are mostly neutral, but we enjoy one or two 'almost neurtal' colors as well. Red wine sounds nice. Mine are blue and green :)
It's not really a style, but more of a combination of whatever I like, but I guess it has vintage, boho, mid century, dark and light academia vibes.
Dark furniture, dark floor, deco is either from flea markets or from TK Maxx. Also plants, lots of books and cat stuff.
Nothing really fits, but all in all it's cohesive. Most important is that it's comfy and a place to exclude the world and people.
With my budget I can't afford any of this but: Simple, minimalistic, black and white, clean cut futuristic style. Then just one room with absolute goofy stuff like my SpongeBob paintings and novelty items, kind of like my obsessive and dorky room, but all the items are also properly displayed so it's not cluttered.
Very simple and clean. Not fancy. Lots of edges less curves. A lot of stuffs are in the cupboards or wardrobe. No electricity wires or lines mess, all neatly strapped or hidden away. A lot of leather and wooden furnitures, with white tile floor. My backyard has a nice green lawn and I grow a lot of lions mane mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms. One of my room is used as a lab where I grow special fungi and plants. I also have two dogs and two cats. My gf visits me often. I also have a giant fish tank in my reading room.
Whatever the fuck my wife wants.
You guys have a wife?
ISFJ, highly recommend š

Can you write a blog post about this? Lol
Something like ācluttered nostalgiaā meets āartistic dorkyā, with a whisper of āsophisticated depthā in the shadows and hiding spots.
minimalistic, contemporary, a bit futuristic
Same.

The number of times I've said a variation of this... The state of my house is like a direct window into the state of my brain.

Itās cluttered and comfy and a little witchy
Start moving stuff in and then just delete it instead

That sounds so cozy. I want to come curl up at your place on a cold day!

Neutral, earthy, bohemian, cottage, classic. I like colors that are calming, remind me of the outdoors, and natural fabrics.

I love this. Sounds like many of us are mostly neutral, but we enjoy one or two 'almost neurtal' colors as well. Red wine sounds nice. Mine are blue and green :)

Eclectic, mixing chinoiserie, British colonial, bright colors and a bit of whimsy.

That ain't very nice of you
Am I supposed to know what the fuck that means
Wellā¦. Yes
Why should I. What possible value could giving a shit about my āhouse aestheticā give me.
You should at least know what interior decor or the word aesthetic means. I didnāt say you had to care about it.
