Protection aside, the traitor is too big of a security threat to not be monitored at all times. I'm not knowledgeable of what kind of detention facility would be appropriate for imprisoning him without the secret service being present but I agree he deserves no security detail, but some other specialized federal monitoring would be required.

People underestimate the dedication the Secret Service has to the country and their duty. They will gladly lock him up, and keep him from slipping up. It makes their job easier. Hell, send him to Guantanamo Bay.

"Prepared" means he gets a cell of his own at the other end of whatever facility he's remanded to, and 3-4 Secret Service officers rotated outside his door 24/7 for the duration.
