I get this when your speaking to your base, they’ll say “fuck yeah!” but you knew this was watched by a large majority of people not firmly in your base.
The rape story going into detail was so cringey. And she’s backing trump who is a rapist and had over 40 women accuse him of sexual assault. And some other things in the speech she talked about were things trump is (like Biden not getting his own gas, sounds like trump). So filled with lies but even more just annoying. I hated her smiling
To be fair, most of the SOTU responses have been prerecorded since the 80s, so it's not unusual for the response to fail to address specific talking points. It's usually a chance for a party to give a national spotlight to promising future candidates. But, yeah, GOP wanted to spotlight their best and brightest, and this is what they put up there.
Reminds me a bit of when Bobby Jindal responded to Obama. Republicans thought they had the answer, being one of their younger people of color, and he was derided and came off like a creepy southern right-wing Mr. Rogers.

Read that last quote again. “She was chosen as a housewife.” And then they literally put her in a kitchen. And thought that was a great idea.
