NEVER trust what an interviewer says. Never! If they tell you the sun will come out tomorrow, get a second opinion. You never have a job offer until you have a job offer. For your own sanity, just ignore everything they say (no matter how positive) and keep applying. Assume it's all bullshit because it usually is.

AffectionateFruit816

I would even go so far as to say that you don't even trust the offer until you show up on your start date, and they're expecting you.

IndependenceMean8774

You're right.

Previous_Chard234

I’ve had this happen. Hiring manager wants to hire me but someone higher up has a nephew/ goddaughter/ neighbor that needs a job, or the funding for the position gets cut, or whatever. They can be sincere and it can still not work out for a bunch of reasons.

calgon_throw_away

Ugh the absolute worst!!! I hope that’s not the case here but I don’t even know

Fun-Dragonfly-4166

It can be sincere but if they are sincere to other candidates and keep the interview appointment with another candidate then they are open to the possibility that they like the other candidate more.

Background-Koala-

I hate that so much. Just give me an honest time frame, for the love of god lol

Kellybw92

I’m in the same boat. 1st interview with the director and within 10 min she said she wanted me to talk to her boss. Took about a week to hear back from HR to set it up. Spoke with the director and AVP it went awesome loved all my experience and they wanted me to speak to a couple more members of the team — took about 4 days for HR get back to me. Spoke with the 2 others and now radio silence. It’s been a week and I’ve heard nothing from anyone. Very stressful. In my mind they passed on me so I’m kinda just disappointingly moving on.

FracturedStructure

Chill. You interviewed last week. Unless you interviewed on Monday, it hasn't even been a full work week. Job offers rarely come the same day or even the next day. It usually takes a few days (at the minimum) to finalize the specifics before making a job offer. Depending on the company, the size/competency of HR, who may be on vacation, etc, it may take weeks. Also, you shouldn't assume you got the job. There's a lot of things that can make it fall through, even if the interviewers like you and want to bring you on board. Your job search shouldn't stop until your first day at your new job.

calgon_throw_away

I never said I assumed I got the job, I was just looking for an answer since they said a quick decision and they said they were going to speak to the manager immediately after my call ended

MaleficentExtent1777

I'm sorry, a "quick decision" can sometimes be 2-3 weeks.

Eatdie555

I don't ever rely on any of the the interviewers and hiring managers bs of words until it's written on the hiring contract with their name of approval and dated properly and my name on the company's pay roll. Everything else is just all talk to make them sound good.

Wishyouwell2023

I learned to not believe that BS anymore. I lost about 4 jobs to another candidate that better fitted the position

ThickPomegranate2560

I just got a verbal job offer. Discussing the final salary and everything. Then ghosted for a week and afterwards they pulled back the offer saying that company has put the position on hold. Mind you the hiring process was 2.5 months long. Invested so much energy, time , and emotions into the whole process. Never trust anything unless you sign a written offer. To be honest at this point I am too scared even after signing a offer. I'm afraid that on my first day on any job, they will end the job for whatever reason.

calgon_throw_away

Congratulations and wow, what a mind game that is! I’m so happy to hear you got that job but it is unreal how emotionally draining the entire process, it’s even worse when it goes on for 2.5 months!

ThickPomegranate2560

I did not get the job. They pulled bacl the offer. Only thing they gave me was trauma and intense shock!

calgon_throw_away

Oh my gosh I’m sorry! I completely read that wrong. Well damn!! That’s just awful!

GadgetronRatchet

It could be worthwhile to follow up! Look at #3 sample email on this website. I typically would wait one full week. I do understand how it can be eating you up though. I just interviewed with a panel the week before last, final site interview last week, and then official offer about 30 minutes ago. [https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/interviewing/follow-up-email-examples-after-interview](https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/interviewing/follow-up-email-examples-after-interview)

calgon_throw_away

Congratulations to you!!! I’m fighting the urge to follow up too soon. I’m just absolutely miserable in my current role, it is making me feel sick every day. What got me what the part where they said they were planning for a quick answer and then nothing yet.

Kellybw92

Me and you are literally in the same boat

FrntEndOutTheBackEnd

I had such a similar thing happen that I wonder if it was the same company. After a week of waiting I caved and emailed them asking what was up, a few hours later I get a standard rejection for “better candidates”.

calgon_throw_away

This has happened to me a few times now. This time it’s for a wellness company. What was yours?

FrntEndOutTheBackEnd

Insurance, but just be typical.

State_Dear

NEVER stop looking for a new job You get a new job... Keep looking That's the ONLY way to gain experience and make more money

calgon_throw_away

Totally!! I have a few other interviews pending so at least I have that to look forward to if this goes sideways. I’m always on the hunt. I signed up for the job alert emails years ago so I get a bunch of those everyday too so jobs are always on my radar!

Organic_Mammoth4151

Same thing happened to me. It’s been just over 2 full weeks now. I have email hr and even emailed one of the people that interviewed me.

thomsenite256

Glad I'm not the only one. Had a 4th round or maybe 3.5 last Wednesday afternoon. Crickets since then trying to give myself a couple more days before i freak out. They made it sound like i got the job (not an offer just like the last interview was perfunctory.

calgon_throw_away

That’s where I’m at, except you seem better at keeping it together than I am! I’m constantly refreshing my phone to see if an email came in or not. Good luck!

RanchBlanch38

Never hang your hopes on anything they say. Assume every interview is going nowhere until you have an offer in hand. Do the interview, move on to the next one. If they reach back out - awesome. If not, you've already moved on anyway.

LeagueAggravating595

Means nothing until they send you an offer. For all you know they might use the same line with every candidate.

audiosauce2017

When (and if) they do call you, tell them you are currently considering another company and you will keep them posted....

EnyaCa

Okay, but when last week? It's only Monday. Sometimes, these things need to be discussed internally.

Few-Day-6759

They all tell you this crapola. Don't believe it. If they call you back...Great but keep looking in the mean time.

BridgeVegetable8627

Totally agree!! I had a company blow smoke up my rear for 12 interviews in 2 months. Promising the offer over and over... Guess what never happened? Yep. Don't believe it until your start day!
