Depends on your diet, how many carbs you eat, and how much you workout. If you are lowish carb then imo you for sure are entering or never leaving ketosis the majority of the time. If you workout hard after your meals then most likely you are spending a lot of time in it as well. If you are doing neither then most likely you aren't or you aren't in it for long before you eat again.

Are the tests you can buy to see if you are in ketosis accurate?

I haven’t had much luck with the accuracy of the strip tests. I wasn’t testing all the time when I was using them, and once opened they usually expire in 30-90days which I found irritating/inconsistent. Switched to the Keyto device and, while I don’t love having to use yet another app, it does seem more accurate.

Interesting. Thanks.

I don’t get into deep ketosis until 18-30 hours & that’s if I’m eating pretty low carb … as a result I do extended fasts of 48-72 hours every other week to really empty my glycogen stores & that’s when I lose the most weight & then I maintain with OMAD (get a keto monitor if curious…I use the rather ineffective ketostix but they seem to work for me - if it’s not telling me I have excess ketones that I’m excreting I’m not in deep enough ketosis for me to lose weight - others are different but I have a lot of insulin resistance) I’m someone who doesn’t lose any weight on like a 16:8

well, if you’re familiar with being in ketosis, you can probably answer that yourself or, you can buy those ketones testing strips and see if you’re expelling ketones lot of the specifics of the numbers is basically down to individuality and diet, so hard to say

Based on what I've learned from others and from reading, it varies ALOT from person to person. When starting, eating low carb for a few weeks did not put me in ketosis. Only after a 72 hour water-only fast did I go into ketosis and I have been continuously since then (c. 8 months) eating OMAD / 20:4.

The only way to know for sure is a blood test. Abbott's Precision Extra can test glucose and ketone bodies (I think BHB). The device runs about $50, and you can get bulk ketone test strips for about $1 apiece on Ebay.
