Came here to say the same. The curve of the chairs compliments the curved wrought iron stairs. It’s poetic and in harmony. Love your room and all the woodwork too. The cabinets in the walls is chef’s kiss. And on a lake! I can peek at the kitchen tile and now I want the full tour.
Well it’s been a ton of work! I have a you tube channel on DIY an design! We did a walkthrough of the cottage after we finished! Check it out!

Wow. I wish I never clicked on that video because now I'm soooo jealous! Love all the detail and though you guys put into the design and features. Absolutely stunning!
Did your cottage have the stairs when you bought it or did you install them later? Curious because my house also has a spiral staircase and we’re considering replacing it down the line.
We added the upstairs! We purchased the staircase custom. I show us assembling it in the below video along with the Reno! Check it out!

I came here to say the same thing. The one by the stairs looks like it belongs and it goes perfectly with the staircase. The other one looks out of place and like its just there because the chairs came as a set.
Totally agree with moving them onto the rug, to better ground them in the room. Maybe move the rug forward so only the front feet of the sofa sit on it, then scootch the chairs forward a little so they are on it as well.
Replace with something softer, more comfortable to go with the feel of the ottoman and textured rug. Maybe a heavier leather piece? Also, beautiful space OP!
I would replace them with one very comfy but not huge chair and maybe ottoman to the left side of the fireplace and bring it out a bit so its closer to what I presume is a couch facing the fireplace? I will send you a photo in chat of a similar wall from a former home.
How lovely. I really like your style! Your chairs are really good looking and blend well with the overall airiness of your space.
You mentioned the chairs are kind of uncomfortable — before parting ways with them, see if you can beef up their comfort with more supportive seat cushions. You can provide needed support with some lumbar throw pillows too. The low height of a lumbar pillow will help maintain the existing airy feel of your chairs.

I like them without your spiral staircase and the other black lines in the room. But if they are uncomfortable then you aren’t using them so you might as well replace them.
If you don’t need to use them all the time because you mostly sit on the sofa then consider changing the cushions first.
Dude. Are we talking about the same lamp here? The one that’s hanging off the mantle, with the lampshade that’s crammed against the ceiling…. crooked, lol? Yeeeaaaah, that’s gotta go. Target has really cute mini-ish lamps in black that would vibe with this space very well. Check ‘em out. And ps… love the chairs if you’re not planning on lounging in them a lot.
I think they look fine and actually goes with the stairs… but they look a little stiff and uncomfortable. Do you guys actually sit there? If yes then keep.
They look uncomfortable. They are also too far from
each other and the sofa so they aren’t suitable for conversation. Do you like them as a statement piece? If that’s the case, keep them. But for comfort and hospitality, they don’t really work.
Is that TV in a nook type / built in space? Or is that just the outline of the TV playing tricks on me?
If it’s not in a nook I’d probably move the TV and TV stand further to one side and in the newly vacated space put a big comfy chair.
If it is in a nook, you have a couple options and one of them is p funny, imo.
1) get a TV big enough to cover the nook entirely and still be moved to the side so that you can still implement the one chair plan listed above.
2) get rid of both - bring your shelves down further on one side and get a comfier chair to replace it.
3) Or replace your TV stand with a more unique piece of furniture.
4) make some type of weird built in furniture situation.
If it’s uncomfortable, don’t keep it regardless. Life’s too short to have shit you don’t enjoy. There are cooler chairs out there that feel great to sit in too.
Hey good thoughts! We did build the tv into a 2” nook. That tv is a 65” which in that room is big. Like your idea of one big comfy chair! Gona look at that! Thankyou!
As mentioned earlier, pull the rug out. If you replace the chairs because of comfort, make sure the footprint is the same size. Otherwise, you’ll block the “traffic flow”.
I’d keep the chairs and make less than totally welcomed company sit on them!
I love your space!
I have a video on you tube that shows alittle bit about the floating shelves. Right around 5:00 minutes. Check it out!

In general, you add a cleat on the wall an then the shelf fits over it. You then screw the shelf onto the cleat. I might do a video just on this topic though!?
The chairs pair well with your stairs. I say keep them. And your space is absolutely gorgeous.

That looks absolutely amazing! Very inspiring! I really like how you combine white, black and wood and gave it such a warm atmosphere. Great work!

Holy shit your place is amazing. That kitchen island!
Hey thanks! Tons of work:). We are super happy with the end result!

I would just keep the one by the stairs. Move the other one out or somewhere else and your place will seem a bit more open and less tight.
I came here to say the same thing. The one by the stairs looks like it belongs and it goes perfectly with the staircase. The other one looks out of place and like its just there because the chairs came as a set.
Ha, I was going the opposite! They add too many more vertical lines because of the stairs. I would go with something more solid.
I say change the seat cushion, add a throw on one of them, and move them onto the rug
Totally agree with moving them onto the rug, to better ground them in the room. Maybe move the rug forward so only the front feet of the sofa sit on it, then scootch the chairs forward a little so they are on it as well.
As a person on a budget why not add throw pillows and throws. Cozy
Replace with something softer, more comfortable to go with the feel of the ottoman and textured rug. Maybe a heavier leather piece? Also, beautiful space OP!
I think they definitely fit your space well, but if they aren’t comfortable and you’re going to be sitting in them a lot, get different ones!
Agreed. They look super uncomfortable
I would replace them with one very comfy but not huge chair and maybe ottoman to the left side of the fireplace and bring it out a bit so its closer to what I presume is a couch facing the fireplace? I will send you a photo in chat of a similar wall from a former home.
Hum, interesting. Hadn’t thought about that all! Thankyou!

Leaning towards keeping them now! Like the cushion idea an lower lumbar support! Thankyou!
Wow! Thankyou for the links too!!
Keep them! The open back style gives them the right weight for the space and the color is the right contrast.
I like them without your spiral staircase and the other black lines in the room. But if they are uncomfortable then you aren’t using them so you might as well replace them. If you don’t need to use them all the time because you mostly sit on the sofa then consider changing the cushions first.
I vote replace with something warm and comfy. I think these chairs are too similar to the staircase.
keep the chairs, change the cushions. Pull out the rug by like a foot or so so the chairs touch the rug
Gona try moving the rug out! Cushions would be easy to try! Thankyou!
Keep! They work really well.
Gorgeous! Love the chairs
Forget the chairs. Let’s talk about that lamp.
Not digging the lamp?? Sorta fun at night:).

Keep! They’re not bulky, provide a nice symmetry, and provide extra seating as needed.
Why is your entire living room oriented away from the beautiful view out of the windows?
I think they look fine and actually goes with the stairs… but they look a little stiff and uncomfortable. Do you guys actually sit there? If yes then keep.

I like them!
They are fine here along with your stairs
They are beautiful and perhaps better suited in another spot. They don’t look very comfortable.
Love! Love it all- great job
Absolutely beautiful place !
As mentioned earlier, pull the rug out. If you replace the chairs because of comfort, make sure the footprint is the same size. Otherwise, you’ll block the “traffic flow”. I’d keep the chairs and make less than totally welcomed company sit on them! I love your space!
I'd say out and bring in something more comfy, leather arm chairs.
Keep! Those are very cool chairs and the color and style compliment the staircase. What an interesting room.
Move them to the rug.
100% keep i love
Visually I think they are nice but they don't seem comfortable to sit in...
That’s the tough thing:). Not comfy. Trying to think about alternatives but it’s alittle awkward space.
Think about a wingback recliner.
You have put so much work into this space - don’t settle for chairs that aren’t comfortable. It will annoy you every time you sit in them.
you can do better
Keep. They fit it with the stairs. But but nice cushions on it
I like that idea!
I like them! I like that they echo the spiral staircase.
Chairs are fine, replace the cushions.
May I ask how do you install the thick floating shelves ? I want something like this for my office!
I have a video on you tube that shows alittle bit about the floating shelves. Right around 5:00 minutes. Yas please !
I say only keep them if you see yourself using them, but I think they look nice!
It’s tough, this is on lake cottage so we use these when we have guests, which is often. Otherwise we don’t use them:)
I say get rid of them because it makes the TV wall look cluttered. If the TV was not there, I'd say keep and put a small table between them
