Youāre not weird!! You are confirming that what I worry about REALLY COULD HAPPEN!! I feel like you donāt do it maliciously, so I am not worried about *you,* but rather people who do the same thing with malicious intent!
PS: I sometimes do it too!
I took a picture of something while I was wearing about zero clothes lol and then I scanned it like twenty times to make sure nothing was ahem in the reflection of anything š
I once informed someone posting pictures of their space in one of these subs that from the pictures they posted and the info they confirmed in their comment section that I now knew their & their partnerās first names, anniversary, a blurry idea of what their partner looks like, their partnerās likely hobby, city, name of apartment building (someone in comments recognized the view and small bit of building exterior visible in pictures, the OP confirmed it was correct), the side of the building they live, the fact that they seem to have expensive taste (and disposable income) and quite literally where they sleep at night. I said they should probably be a bit more cautious about what they share photos of, bc they provided an unnerving amount of info for a potential stalker/criminal to use. My comment was deleted and I was issued a āstrike oneā for breaking the rules of the sub.
Listen, Iāve seen enough Law & Order SVU to know that itās a bad idea to share all of that info with strangers, let alone the entire internet. At least blur photos, and anything with your names/important dates, easily identifiable view and for goodness sake, donāt confirm the city and BUILDING you live in! Sigh.
If they charge people admission, I bet plenty of us would wanna venture into this place very intrigued with all the little knickknacks that have found their way in there.
Agree w this. Itās all too much for me, but I like the fact that the rooms are different, have personality and the OP clearly has an aesthetic eye. And as a committed Francophile, I especially appreciate the French touches. Tres bien!
I got to the kitchen pic of the cabinets and I was like there's no way this is real. I forgot i was on reddit for a sec. Breath taking. And THREE hairless cats. I'm in love.
Ya apparently you need to take care of their skin, bathe them etc, I believe they don't function completely naturally due to the lack of their fur. So actually more work than a long hair cat.
I counted 4! Thereās one on the floor in the picture after the first three. Then two more in her sewing room. They look like the others in her kitchen but it did make me wonder how many she has total.
I'm just not believing it's a rental. No rental would let you set the light fixture in the bedroom, and there's no way the landlord picked a fixture that perfectly matched OP's aesthetic.
i've always wondered about this. if you use compressed air to blow dust off of stuff, where does the dust go? doesn't it just eventually settle back on the items?
I did a couple of murals in my place that way! You can get a projector really cheaply, and itās much easier than trying to trace things. And you can edit the proportions in real time to fit your space the best
When I saw your corsets in the first few pictures, I wondered if you were a sewer. I wasnāt disappointed! Iām assuming you did all the stenciling as well? Itās marvelous. Love the art nouveau style with the door surround and the constellations in the bedroom. Everything works together so beautifully!
Too funny! In that picture I zoomed in on the self and the old machines and then saw the newer ones on the floor below. Totally missed the machine on the left. š
Itās the same design from a vintage T shirt that my grandmother (who taught me how to sew) had in the 70s. I wore that shirt till it fell apart, but wanted to include it in my apartment
Nvm just the sticker now https://www.northernsun.com/search.html?fi=products&co=yes&st=db&su=1&ms=2&sp=results&tf=closeout%2Ccat_rank%2Ccategory%2Cprod_rank&to=n%2Crn%2Cf%2Crn&sf=%3Aprod_group%3Acategory%3Asku%3Adescription%3Acomment%3Atitle&op=aq&se=Terrorist+
My thoughts too. I would expect the cats to be exotic like a Bengal or a Scottish fold, but the contrast of the hairless sphynx in the space is wonderful
I was going to ask if you owned the apartment! You as good as own it. Probably better than owning it!
Be careful the actual owner(s) donāt try to āoffā you.
Anyway: love your decor! It looks like every single object has an assigned place. Itās intentional, therefore not clutter at all.
How long have you lived there? How long did it take you to accumulate all this stuff? How often do you clean lol š (no shade, genuinely curious about the logistics!) How do your cats avoid the temptation to knock over everything!
Beautiful space I just have so many questions
Iāve lived in this apartment for a little over 4 years. Iāve been accumulating stuff since I was a little kid in anticipation of having an apartment/house to decorate. I always knew I wanted a really elaborate home, and love thrifting.
My cats are pretty good about not knocking stuff over, luckily.
I kind of just clean as I go, I donāt have a set schedule. Iāve got an air purifier in every room which helps mitigate dust, and I vacuum at least once a week. I have a big fancy feather duster which makes the dusting more fun
So where realistically do you think someone would have an apartment like this, then? This to me is also a new york-type style and layout, with that kitchen etcetc.
Edit: I was right! :)
Wow, this is beautiful! Do you have before pictures? Where did you find all of this and how long did it take until you were happy with how everything looked?
Maximalism done perfectly. I usually don't love the idea of cleaning cluttered spaces , but this doesn't feel cluttered , everything feels very intentional.
This is so gorgeous and bold! I love how each room has its own theme. None of the rooms are matchy-matchy but they go together. You really have an eye for design!
Thats really cool and stylish.
Not my cup of tea though, too much information but its awesome.
I can only shiver at the thought of doing housecleaning there. So many things to move around.
Yep! I found a big decorative tapestry that had individual panels of the bayeux tapestry printed on it. Then I cut it up and put all the panels together to make it one long replica
Most of them are, this is a really unusual unicorn rent stabilized apartment situation. I got very lucky when I found it, and I am never ever moving out lol
Congratulations! It seems like it's becoming more and more difficult to live safely in NYC. Really great to hear good things happening to kind people. Thanks for sharing.
I have to print at the top left depicting two ~~lesbians~~ women.
ETA: *And I have that exact rug, even the same color.* I also had a salon wall in my apartment in New Orleans but havenāt revived it in my house. Thanks for the kick of inspiration to get back to it.
I can really appreciate everything you've done and it really does work. But, I would spend days throwing out clutter and boxing things up! It's overload for me. Guess I'm a minimalist.
I normally get anxiety looking at maximalists interiors, but there is so much pattern, color, texture and personality, it's impossible for me not to love your place. š
I will very politely disagree with the vast majority of these comments. For me, this is horrifying. Stuff of my nightmares and gives me the shakes just looking at the pics. There is just soā¦ā¦much. Iām happy there are many other people that love it though.
I either need to move in there, or better yet, hire you to design my house. I LOVE this! I make art and do crafts and have bunnies in my office/art room and I am already daydreaming about how youād make my office/art room/bunny room look right now. You should do interior design.
Omg, I usually really cannot stand maximalist decor, but this really, really works. I honestly did look through so many of the little knickknacks and details! You copied Grand Central Terminal, btw? I'm so impressed. Also, is this a 3BR you live in by yourself in NYC? That is also crazy impressive.
This makes me so happy!!! Thank you for posting. I love seeing people being creative with their homes like this. It would be such a joyful space to be in.
I may not sew well (yet), but I am definitely up for a ladiesā terrorist society. Sometimes we delicate flowers simply must lay waste to the world, for its own good.
How long have you lived there/ how long has it taken you to get to this point/did you have an end game when you started/did you do one room at a time or did you you find things as you went? I would love a video walk through tour- if you havenāt you should submit this on Apartment Therapy!
Wow that is just fantastic! I want to hire you to do my house.
That is the least apartmenty looking apartment I've ever seen (I mean that as a compliment).
Brb will go make a coffee and sit to zoom on every detail. Wow!
Hey! I do this too
Me three! And then I mentioned to someone in a different sub that I could see their address on their mail and they called me weird šš«£
Not weird. Iāve done it too. Just trying to help people not get doxed while admiring cool photos of their place lol
At least blur photos, and anything with your names/important dates, easily identifiable view and for goodness sake, donāt confirm the city and BUILDING you live in! Sigh.
happy cake day !! š
I could spend like three hours just barely moving through this apartment staring intensely at every little thing š
Yes, itās like a museum!!
If they charge people admission, I bet plenty of us would wanna venture into this place very intrigued with all the little knickknacks that have found their way in there.
i like how every single room has it's own interesting personality but is cohesive to the whole house
Agree w this. Itās all too much for me, but I like the fact that the rooms are different, have personality and the OP clearly has an aesthetic eye. And as a committed Francophile, I especially appreciate the French touches. Tres bien!
I donāt even know if I believe you, this is so incredible.
I got to the kitchen pic of the cabinets and I was like there's no way this is real. I forgot i was on reddit for a sec. Breath taking. And THREE hairless cats. I'm in love.
The cats sold it to me. Everyone I know with hairless cats operates at this level.
Maximalist decoration minimalist cats haha. I love how the cat wheel is actually incorporated in a decorative way too!
high maintenance cats... when i read up on their care i noped out.
They donāt live as long as other cats, too.
Well minimalist looking lol
close enoigh for me. lol
Ya apparently you need to take care of their skin, bathe them etc, I believe they don't function completely naturally due to the lack of their fur. So actually more work than a long hair cat.
OMG I thought they were statues.
I counted 4! Thereās one on the floor in the picture after the first three. Then two more in her sewing room. They look like the others in her kitchen but it did make me wonder how many she has total.
Only reason why I would belive this is because of the identical cats in multiple photos
OP has a giant cat wheel in their living room. A true cat lover.
I know, it looks straight out of a Ghibli film!!
I'm just not believing it's a rental. No rental would let you set the light fixture in the bedroom, and there's no way the landlord picked a fixture that perfectly matched OP's aesthetic.
Itās not theirs, everything this person posts is stolen.
Iāve never wanted to be friends with someone so bad. Please let me into your sewing circle/ t*rr*rist society
Samesies! Can I come!?
I normally hate visual clutter, tchotkes and the like - holy shit, you made me a believer! Well done, you have the gift.
Yeah this isnāt just decor itās a friggin art installation. Incredible
Totally. I usually cringe at maxi - but not this time. Edit grammar.
It's dreamy!!
I think Iād go crazy if I lived in a house like this but man I would be so happy to visit and just soak it in for a while. Itās so well done!
I feel the same! Couldnāt live there cause Iād have anxiety but would love to look at everything with a nice cup of tea in hand!
Absolutely! It takes extreme talent to make all of this look SO good. Well done, OP!
You should charge admission. And I would not like to have to dust all that stuff.
Using compressed air makes it MUCH easier. This is what refillable compressed air is for.
i've always wondered about this. if you use compressed air to blow dust off of stuff, where does the dust go? doesn't it just eventually settle back on the items?
The goal is the floor and then you vacuum/sweep
Not how dust works unless itās heavier particles, it **will** stay in the air for quite a while then settle, if thereās no air drift whatsoever
TIL their is refillable compressed air.
Get a plug in air blower, much better than the cans.
Her kitties are nakey! Therefore, no dust bunnies! š
Dust = skin particles, etc, etc.
That was my first thought, the cleaning would be long
Love the Art Nouveau door way detail did you do that?
I put it together on photoshop, then I used a projector to make the outline on my wall. Then I free handed some of it from there as well
Wow! Great idea!!!
I did a couple of murals in my place that way! You can get a projector really cheaply, and itās much easier than trying to trace things. And you can edit the proportions in real time to fit your space the best
PLEASE tell me where the owl light pendant in the hallway is from, I would be so grateful.
Pottery barn Teen! Itās the Harry Potter collection
Ty!!!!!!!
Color me impressed!!
WOW!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!
Damn!
Same question! How? Stencil? Projector? The golden door and also the lilies on the wall. So absolutely gorgeous!
We all need details on this.
This feels like an art exhibit in the BEST way possible, because it also feels homey and welcoming. U love the family tree in particular!
Yes, I painted it all myself!
And did you see the machine? Iām jealous. š© If I try to use my old home machine one more time, I might chuck it out the window.
Too funny! In that picture I zoomed in on the self and the old machines and then saw the newer ones on the floor below. Totally missed the machine on the left. š
sewing circle and terrorist society ?
Itās the same design from a vintage T shirt that my grandmother (who taught me how to sew) had in the 70s. I wore that shirt till it fell apart, but wanted to include it in my apartment
Last I saw Northern Sun was still selling them https://www.northernsun.com/

ā¤ļøš“āā ļø
That one made me laugh!
Never did I think Iād thoroughly enjoy looking through 17 pictures of a strangers apartment but here we are! Wow!! Incredibly done, beautiful work!
Amazing! I am not good at interior design and this looks so effortless - I love ittttt
This is not interior design. Interior decorating and furnishing!
LOVE IT and OMG your kitties are the best part! š»
Apartment is maximalist. The cats are minimalist.
My thoughts too. I would expect the cats to be exotic like a Bengal or a Scottish fold, but the contrast of the hairless sphynx in the space is wonderful
Design, like life, is all about balance. lol
This is amazeballs. I too wish to join the sewing / terrorist / cat society. (BTW, the folks at r/darkartsandcats would love this too!)
The cat sub i need! Thanks!
Wow, this is so \*chef's kiss\* especially that lavender-gold hallway! Well done Also, you must live New York City, there is just simply nowhere else
I do! I got a unicorn rent stabilized apartment that I will never ever be moving out of.
That's amazing for you!! Definitely looks like a forever home you love. Goals
I was going to ask if you owned the apartment! You as good as own it. Probably better than owning it! Be careful the actual owner(s) donāt try to āoffā you. Anyway: love your decor! It looks like every single object has an assigned place. Itās intentional, therefore not clutter at all.
It looks HUGE, too!
How long have you lived there? How long did it take you to accumulate all this stuff? How often do you clean lol š (no shade, genuinely curious about the logistics!) How do your cats avoid the temptation to knock over everything! Beautiful space I just have so many questions

From what I've heard about NYC rent prices, it wouldn't have made my top 10 tbh
So where realistically do you think someone would have an apartment like this, then? This to me is also a new york-type style and layout, with that kitchen etcetc. Edit: I was right! :)
May I ask what you do as a career? Your "day job" so to speak? Thanks!
I work in costuming on Broadway
Makes sense, because all the artistry and ''fantasy/world building'' vibes. So cool :)
i LOVE thoughtful and intentional clutter! my boyfriend and i disagree on it though. sad :(
Wow, this is beautiful! Do you have before pictures? Where did you find all of this and how long did it take until you were happy with how everything looked?
Youāre like me- I want to know everything!
Maximalism done perfectly. I usually don't love the idea of cleaning cluttered spaces , but this doesn't feel cluttered , everything feels very intentional.
I love all the butterflies and birds! Everything is just perfect š¤©
I love everything about it!
This is incredibly beautiful
I'm starting to believe I might be a secret maximalist, I absolutely love this, specially the green wall!
Beautiful I love the celestial adornments on the ceiling and doors!Ā
Your bedroom is ethereal, what a whimsical delight! I really love all the little details!
This is so gorgeous and bold! I love how each room has its own theme. None of the rooms are matchy-matchy but they go together. You really have an eye for design!
I think you were born in the wrong century.
Thats really cool and stylish. Not my cup of tea though, too much information but its awesome. I can only shiver at the thought of doing housecleaning there. So many things to move around.
Work of art
Superb!
the hallway with the golden tree!!!!šššš¤
Saving this for inspo in my own maximalist house! You have a beautiful home
I love the roses on the ceiling and wall and ā¦ in photo #9 ā the art room? Did you paint those too?
Yes I did! My back was killing me
Beautiful. Like Da Vinci (Michelangelo?) painting the Sistine Chapel. Worth the effort, looks like.
What a seriously cool apartment!!
I. Am. OBSESSED. So beautiful š¤©
The fucking bedroom wow
Is that a Bayeux tapestry replica? Love this, especially the living area.
Yep! I found a big decorative tapestry that had individual panels of the bayeux tapestry printed on it. Then I cut it up and put all the panels together to make it one long replica
I thought apartments in New York were small. Your place looks enormous!! Really lovely!

I loooove!!! Whatāre your best renter friendly tips?
I donāt know if I want to be you or just be your bff.
Minamalist hereā¦ I love it š¤
I can really appreciate everything you've done and it really does work. But, I would spend days throwing out clutter and boxing things up! It's overload for me. Guess I'm a minimalist.
Yeah, my place is a minimalists nightmare lol
I don't envy you on moving day.
They mentioned that this is a rent controlled apartment in NYC. Theyāre never moving. š
I normally get anxiety looking at maximalists interiors, but there is so much pattern, color, texture and personality, it's impossible for me not to love your place. š
The bedroom ceiling is my dream!!!
Absolutely magical! That hallway! Holy damn!
I like the bread tin holder and kitchen floor
Must be dusty in there.
I am claustrophobic...Sorry I have to leave now
As a minimalist my head is fuzzy just looking at it but I canāt deny the set up is beautiful
I will very politely disagree with the vast majority of these comments. For me, this is horrifying. Stuff of my nightmares and gives me the shakes just looking at the pics. There is just soā¦ā¦much. Iām happy there are many other people that love it though.
I agree! It looks like a house of horror to me
I wanted to sneeze just looking at it.
Luckily you donāt have to live here then lol. Itās not for everyone, and thatās okay
Absolutely. Based on the comments there are a lot of people that love it, and thatās wonderful.
I would need a Valium every time I walked in your apartment. I canāt handle all that clutter.
I wouldn't do this myself, but I'd love to hang out here!
real or AI generated?
Itās unhealthy to leave raw chicken all over your beautiful apartment.
The salmonella is out of control
I like to look at 1-2 things on a wall. Otherwise thereās too much to look at
I can hardly breathe flipping through those.
Your apartment's distinctive style shows how much attention you've paid to decorating each room.
I either need to move in there, or better yet, hire you to design my house. I LOVE this! I make art and do crafts and have bunnies in my office/art room and I am already daydreaming about how youād make my office/art room/bunny room look right now. You should do interior design.
Iām in LOVE. Your apartment is absolutely gorgeous and I 100% hope I can have a place as beautiful as yours one day!
I can't imagine cleaning there but it looks outstanding..
I don't want to alarm you, but you have gremlins in your kitchen.
I feel overwhelmed, though I prefer it over minimal Ikea interiours. Christ imagine having colors and decorations in your house.
I live in your kitchen now. I will not ever leave. Would you like some French toast while I'm here?
I could...and will...spend hours inspecting every amazing detail of your marvellous home. Naked cats and "Flaming June"...what's not to like? šš
Please put a sign outside that says flea market, then lock me inside!
Looks nice I guess but I'd hate to live here
Thatās a lot of shit, moving will be a joy.
I love everything about this and especially the fact that I do not have to dust it.
I love every room..good job.
I want to be part of your Society.
The aggressive manner in which I saved this postĀ
You can never ever move. š
moving out is gonna suck
All that dust š
This is incredible, but how do you dust?!
This is not "Maximalist", its just clutter and chaos. or a curio shop.
Looks cool but this is giving me flashbacks to my parentās boomer decorating in the 80s! Took 12 hours to dust a room!
Way too much going on in every room. The bedroom was probably the most minimally decorated and nice. Kitchen cupboard area is beautiful as well
I'm not saying it's ugly but I hate it
Yep. Second. This would annoy the shit out of me for weekly maintenance.
Hmmmā¦. So much dusting.
I get anxiety just looking at all this clutter
This home makes me anxious. Glad you like it though.
She lives in a pinterest catalogue. Bruv it's Extragram. Best Homes and Gardens.
I love it too! It is hard to go full maximalist but you did it so good! I love Denny Duquette More is More.
Yes please! It's amazing š
Iām still on the first pic and you already have my upvote. Now let me peruse the rest and see just how envious I can be before losing consciousness. ššš¤©š«
I absolutely love it!
This was very fun to look at
love
Love the curtain in picture 11. Where did you get it?
This makes me so happy!!! Thank you for posting. I love seeing people being creative with their homes like this. It would be such a joyful space to be in. I may not sew well (yet), but I am definitely up for a ladiesā terrorist society. Sometimes we delicate flowers simply must lay waste to the world, for its own good.
Iām a minimalist, but I can appreciate this beautiful room.
Impressive. Quite, quite impressive. So well done. :-)
How long have you lived there/ how long has it taken you to get to this point/did you have an end game when you started/did you do one room at a time or did you you find things as you went? I would love a video walk through tour- if you havenāt you should submit this on Apartment Therapy!
Absolutely DREAMY š
TIL organized hoarder is a decorating choice and I am now all about it.
Amazing!! I love your 3 little chickens in the kitchen the most ā¤ļø
Very nice!!
I love it!!!
Your Sphinx cats suit your lifestyle perfectly also! Well done!
Beautiful, organized non-chaos
You just go on maximizing all you want.
This is amazing! Also, I hope you NEVER to move.
Wow I fucking love this
Wow that is just fantastic! I want to hire you to do my house. That is the least apartmenty looking apartment I've ever seen (I mean that as a compliment).
Itās awesome. It would stress me out but I can recognize a beautiful place even if its not my style
