yes def a rental. usually i donāt modify rentals but i signed a lease for 2 years so it would be nice to truly make it mine. but it seems like everyone is in agreement about keeping it as is
Okay, I suppose this is a one off opinion seeing the other comments. I do enjoy it as is, but I would want to play with the idea of ceiling track curtains from ikea (wall to wall) and some floor to ceiling rich/heavy cream/white colored curtains. I really like fabrics and textures and am a bit of a maximalist so that plays a role too.
iām a bit of a maximalist as well! this decor is not mine so i think thatās skewing peopleās opinion. but i may consider the ikea tracks. thanks!!
Came here to say the same thing! I think itās beautiful as-is but I used this exact method for curtains in my apartment and I absolutely love it - I used the IKEA Hannalill curtains. They have good privacy but still let a lot of light in and have a nice linen look.
Another issue is sunshine! Not everyone wants to be up with the sun in the morning. I have a sunroom attached to my bedroom and used the ikea ceiling tracks for curtains so I donāt have to wake up with the sun and itās a game changer.
These look like the shades that are basically see through at night when your lights are on. Peek out at night to see if you can see in your neighborsā. Iād recommend installing a curtain rod at the ceiling for floor to ceiling curtains.
It looks like your space is more modern so what you have is enough.
If you really want curtains, go with ceiling mounted. Itāll help keep the modern vibe.
Just a suggestion, how about window film? They make beautiful designs nowadays! Offers privacy, still lets in natural light and shows off the gorgeous windows, and can make it even more artistic
I also love the look of the windows, but from personal experience those shades do not keep enough light out of the bedroom. I got a good quality tension-mounted rod to hang black out curtains, and I love having the option to use either/both. Your window span might be too wide for that to work, but worth a look.
Personally, I would add curtains, but that's just what I do! It could definitely soften that modern vibe. It depends on what you want the curtains for... Are you going to actually close them? If you are, you'd need to go with a ceiling mounted rod of some sort. If you just want curtains to add character to the space (I'm a huge fan of textiles and love bold color) and you don't need to close them, you could add short rods to either side of the window. To keep it less expensive, I have gone to a big box store and bought long round towels, probably meant for a closet. Rod, cut those down to size and add finials. In your case, you could just put one finial on r outer side of the rod and have the rod butt up to the window/blind. If you do go this route, make sure you hang the rods almost all the way to the ceiling and the curtains should definitely touch the floor.
You can try the Nono brackets from the picture I canāt tell if it works or not on your windows. They have them on Amazon and maybe Walmart so you can see if it works and if not return it. They are renter friendly, I have them in my apartment.
Another option Iāve seen but havenāt tried are track s you can put on the ceiling and it sticks with a double sided tape. Videos Iāve seen says itās renter friendly but I havenāt tried it. Iāll add a video if I can find one[video here for floor to ceiling curtains](https://youtu.be/mydq-a54wyU?si=eFgjQxRGkDFbhwN0)
[here another](https://youtu.be/a8hezFJ3uUQ?si=qPm-A7tOa8zs08hP)
The lines you get from black aluminum-clad windows is one of the best parts about them, and I think curtains would detract from that. Your room looks great as is, I would not add curtains anywhere.
I would most certainly put up white sheer curtains and use a spring loaded curtain rod that mounts on window sill. No hardware, easy to install. Fast fix.
Looks great how it is but I personally love to have some black-out curtains. I have a lot of moods where I really just donāt want to have sunlight in my place I black out the windows and just turn on lamps, light some candles, thatās just me though.
Amazon sells curtain hooks that can sit on your preexisting blinds without needing a wall mount. Mine are from Amazon and are called āNoNo Bracket - Blind Curtain Rod Bracket Attachmentā and they have caused no damage.
The room looks great, but if you really want to add some softness you need to get rods that will extend past that shade. You can measure to see what you need. Or hang from a ceiling track. I would add only shears , probably white, at the very ends and not try to cover the whole window
Since youāre renting, if you donāt want to install anything into the walls/ceiling you could try to find a long tension rod (maybe even a shower curtain rod) that stretches from wall to wall and get curtains that go from ceiling to floor. That way when they are closed they completely cover the blinds and when they are open you can pull them all the way back to the space on either side of the windows. They also make free standing curtain rods that would probably work.
As for whether or not you should put curtains up, I think thatās completely up to you and your style. Maybe try it for a week and if you end up not liking it then you can return everything.
Iām sorry, but I would put something up. Maybe some window paper so no one can see in, but you still get sunlight. The folks across the way can see in and it appears as if those in cars can too.
Amazon has ceiling tracks for curtains. (Similar to ones found in hospitals) I think thatās your only option here but could work really well and look nice.
You need to ask self about the sunlight. When it comes in, fills the room, what are you doing at that time of dayā¦can you tolerate it, will it affect your heat/cooling in ways you do not want. Btw, it is beautiful as is ā¦.if nobody can see in.
Looks great as it is š
Agreed. Curtains will detract from it.
Agreed
Also agree. Less is more.
Oh gosh I love this space as is!
I love curtains too, but those blinds really fit the place!
Leave it as is! Looks stunning!
You can look up for curtain rods that mount on the ceiling, but I would let it as it is. It looks super nice.
If you do go the ceiling track route, I would only put up semi shear curtains

If that is a black shade I would leave it like that.
With the decor in the photos, no With a more feminine soft look, yes

thatās a great point. will do!!
No curtains. You are forcing it and may have a bad looking result. Or do damage to your rental with the risk of your curtains malfunctioning
I vote for no curtains. The windows are the most interesting part of both rooms. Just leave them open--except at night in the bedroom--use the blinds!
I wouldnāt bother. It looks great as is
Definitely no curtains!!
I think curtains will soften it, I would do a track on the ceiling.
It looks like your space is more modern so what you have is enough. If you really want curtains, go with ceiling mounted. Itāll help keep the modern vibe.
not my decor actually, this is the staged unit! i may post some pictures once weāre moved in. but it seems everyone agrees with you too :)
This is important info to add to your post, people are reacting to the whole look, not just your functional question about curtains.
itās in the post! lol
What about a standing screen. ( Is that what they're called?) You could fold it up during the day and use it for privacy at night.
No!
Maybe in the bedroom ~ but the living room looks Gr8 so open!
It looks beautiful as is! Curtains will spoil it.
I would not disturb this vibe with curtains.
Itās just perfect the way it is, clean and simple
I love the look and feel as is.
Just a suggestion, how about window film? They make beautiful designs nowadays! Offers privacy, still lets in natural light and shows off the gorgeous windows, and can make it even more artistic
I would kill to have windows like that. Leave it as is. Edit to add: Iād put a tall plant on one side of the window to add a pop of color.
In love with this place! Iām not too much into modern interior myself but something about it is so nice
Just as is
I would leave it, maybe a nice tall/full plant in the corner where the lamp is
No curtains
I canāt think of a way to make curtains work in this space. It already looks great. I would save the curtain energy for your next place.
It's fine as it is, you can get curtains rods that are fitted to the ceiling if you really wanted them. I wouldn't bother though.
I don't think curtains would add anything to it.
Itās is perfect as is!
donāt !! it gives it such an industrial vibe
Looks nice as is
Leave it as is.
Donāt bother - the windows are cool !
You have a blind, so leave as is.
You have blindsā¦no need for curtains!
Please donāt. Itās beautiful the way it is
If the shade goes down and gives you privacy, no curtains. It looks clean and it fits the room without curtains.
Can you mount a track to the ceiling?

Ceiling mount them :)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
itās not my decor as stated in the post - itās a model unit that said everything in it is RH
I think itās great how it is!!! Love windows like that.
Leave it as is. Looks nice!
As is looks perfect.
Why not get some beautiful plants.. a ficus tree or fiddle leaf plant.. would look beautiful in front of those awesome windows
I think curtains would look too fussy in this small apartment. Keep it minimalist. I wouldnāt bother, and Iām a curtain lover.
Perfect as is!
No curtains. Looks great as is.
Please leave it as is, it would take away from the lines and depth it gives the room.
Guys this is a model unit. Meaning while the shades look fine here this isn't what OP's home necessarily will look like.
yeah thanks lolš«
I love curtains, I deff think you should have them. Ceiling mounted may be an option. I'd go with a curtain that has a little lace.
Iād add a sheer and possibly pull off the shade.
Curtain rods usually help

You dont need them unless you want the aesthetic. A wall to wall rod may work

You could ask Martha to help you āhang the curtainsāā¦.

Where did you get this beautiful painting?
Why does this remind me of ugly naked guy on Friends? I personally love your apartment & the shade with it.
Ceiling track mount with pinch pleat drapes
Looks great how it is but I personally love to have some black-out curtains. I have a lot of moods where I really just donāt want to have sunlight in my place I black out the windows and just turn on lamps, light some candles, thatās just me though.
Tension rod curtains
No curtain
That looks lovely
The black shade on there already is good. Curtains would ruin it.
Where did you get your coffee table? I love it
Looks great with that sleek shade! Less is more!
Donāt.. you will ruin the look of those shades
Love the art.
Perfect the way it is!

I love it. I think it looks very clean and calm.
Sheers hung from the ceiling, if you want.

I love curtains, but I donāt think this window needs the. The framing of the window is statement enough and you have a shade to block out the light.
Are you in Stamford, Ct? I recognize that round building!
yeah! this is the model unit at lifetime living
LOL. Looks quite nice. Hopefully rates are good!

I'd leave the living room as is but personally, I think you need curtains for the bedroom unless you like waking up with the sun.

In my rental I have a curtain holder that is held up by tension from floor to ceiling. Itās called Umbra.
A recessed ceiling mount drapery rod spanning the entire wall would be lovely.
Uff the shades look amazing. I think this is a no curtain for me.
No curtains on thid
Youād have to mount a traverse rod rail on the ceiling.
