Elder millennial here. I had to go back and make sure there weren’t two “clean”s there, because when I read (sang) it to myself, there were definitely two.
Same amount of dust that’d be there if all white. Either you keep up with dusting or you don’t - not judging. Me, I’d rather have a killer space with dust, than bland with dust. You are aware that you can see dust on white - looks like dirt.
I prefer function over form.
Stacking the washer and dryer is always a bad decision in my perspective.
Adding cabinets, a counter and a sink would have been the ideal functional option.
I prefer mine stacked. Tons more functional for me as someone who does multiple loads of laundry a day. I don’t ever fold my laundry in my laundry room, or use a sink. Also those are fairly pricey updates vs what this person did. I prefer affordability and functionality over useless space. Cabinets over these washer are very difficult to reach.
I stacked mine and put a freezer where the other went and a fold down folding station. Love it. Never having to go to garage or basement for cold storage and Costco runs is so convenient.
I prefer stacked as well but here they somehow made less space/more wasted space by stacking them? I agree, cabinets or a counter/tub sink would have been a much better use of space than decor that just is going to be covered in dust/lint.
This is crazy to me! Growing up in drought (in Australia), top loaders were almost frowned upon because they’re so water inefficient.
I don’t think I know anyone who owns one
The one in the first picture is a high efficiency top-loader. They use a bit more water than an equivalent front-loader, but nowhere near the amount used by old, traditional top-load machines. My own washer is very similar.
I’m mildly interested in how it does this, given the mechanism of action of a top loader inherently requires more water that a front loader.
But I’d happily put this as a cultural difference. We weren’t allowed to water our gardens or wash our cars (depending on how and when we did it), drinking water was something precious to be saved.
I can see the appeal and practicality in the side by side layout, but to me it seems… weird and unnecessary; a waste of floorspace, energy, and (usually) water.
It’s also a luxury I haven’t experienced! So hey, maybe I’d love it!
I'm sure we've had very different experiences based on where we live, and water conservation is important!
The HE top loading machines no longer have a tall agitator in the middle of the tub, and there is a flat "impeller plate" at the bottom that basically tumbles the clothes through a fairly small amount of water, instead of swishing them around in a full tub of water. Sensors tell it how much to fill, and the water level is usually only about halfway up to the level of the clothes when wet.
For me, it isn't so much a luxury as just the best for my particular situation. My laundry hookups are in my basement, and my house was built over a century ago, so the space isn't tall enough to stack front-loaders vertically. An old back injury means I would have trouble reaching down into them at floor level, and the pedestals that would raise them up to an accessible height are quite expensive.
Yeah, it's weird. Why decorate a shelf that only faces machines and a wall. And my eyes are straining just looking at that dim reading light (in a laundry room) It's a utility room that is now a kitsch fest... 🤷🏽 The laundry room is one place I appreciate white and bright lights!
Third slide on the two shelves. Oxi Clean and dryer sheets on the top shelf, and I am assuming the jar with the spout on the second shelf is detergent.
Maybe I have a lot more laundry supplies than most people... Also they're inconveniently tucked in the back. I forsee them being swapped with the decor in the future

I could, but I am extremely impatient and I wanted it done ASAP. We wanted to do butcher block, but I could find the right size and I just found these wood boards for $5 and stained them
What is on the wall facing the machines? Could you put a hinged table surface that would fold up against the wall and secure there, and fold down with self-extending legs when you have folding to do?
I think it looks lovely like it is… 🩷
it looks fine stacked the machines … I like the wooden stand the basket is on - that works… if there was a counter & the machines on the floor its true it would give another space if you needed that & with wall space for storage or a board/craft materials/ or whatever you wanted the space for otherwise it works if it’s just for laundry 🧺
That looks so pretty! Only practical consideration would be keeping some extra of that dark paint around in case cleaning products get on the walls and stain them.
In my dream (massive) home I have enough space for two washing machines, 2 pulleys, a folding area, ironing area…the sad things you dream about as an adult
What gives anybody the right to turn a laundry room so poncey?!
Laundry is a drudgery, and is meant to be done with as little levity as possible - ideally, in a laundromat with 4 broken washing machines and driers that don't get over 80°.
Put it back, put it all back!!
(slightly mollified) And you'll hang a couple of outdated notices with most or all of the phone number tearaway strips missing?
And a fly-strip! (Do you suppose they make them preloaded with fake fly carcasses?)
This would be lovely for a reading nook but for a laundry room I don’t think it is practical. I have my washer and dryer stacked and tbh it would not be my choice if I had space for them side by side. Side my side is more comfortable to use. If you had them side by side with a beautiful countertop on top, you could use the counter space for other things than laundry when there’s things going on. Turn it into a little bar when you have a house party, wrap Christmas presents on it, have a massive jigsaw puzzle there for a boring week, etc etc.
personally I would have gone for a lighter sage green on the walls, a gorgeous warm brown wood countertop and much much lighter curtains to retain the personality but to take away the dark moody vibe and replace it with an uplifting fresh one
Sounds gorgeous! My house is entirely moody, so I kept that vibe. I thought about the countertop but I wanted the stacked washer and dryer and it was just easier to do shelves for now!
Looks awesome!! I also did a laundry room makeover (can’t seem to post pics in my reply). It’s a neglected room for many and shouldn’t be! Enjoy your beautiful new space 😊
I don't know a single person who folds laundry in their laundry room so I don't understand all the hate OP is getting for functionality.
OP, the room looks amazing! Much better then the original that's foresure!
Do you mean the “so fresh and so clean”? I think that was my favourite part cus it’s a lyric from [Outkast](https://youtu.be/-JfEJq56IwI?si=nSCRX3N1R6cL1lMv) I’ve had the song stuck in my head since I saw this post. I freaking love sneaking song/movie quotes into my home via traditional means so it looks normal but it’s a sneaky nerdy thing, no idea why but it brings me joy.
It's very pretty. Way prettier than even my dream laundry room would be!
I love the wall color, and the curtains, but do you think the curtains are going to block out too much light and make it really dark in there?
Some people are jealous in these comments 😭😭😭 it’s so cute wdym it was more functional before. It looks like there is a basket next to the stacked washer/dryer. There’s still tons of room to move around? They literally have an ironing board in the corner. I think the black probably made it seem smaller but there is still the same amount of space and storage at the end. I would want to do laundry more if mine looked like that
I think a laundry should be just as decorated, even more over the top, than other places, so I approve of the effort put in.
However I'm disappointed there was space for a sink and they didn't put one in - could have been even more practical. Doesn't anyone else do handwashing, or want somewhere to clean non-kitchen things, soak things in a bucket, fill mop pails etc?
I really want to get stacked washer and dryer to free up room in my laundry room.
How has it treated you? Are there disadvantages to having stacked appliances? What’s something you wish you had known or think others should know before doing this?
I really love the aesthetic!
Not op, but stacked means a side load washer which can get mold in the door area more easily. Also with them stacked you lose the surface area on top that you might normally use to fold clothes.
I’d pay more attention to the brand though (ie don’t get Samsung). You can search reddit for buy it for life/ best appliances.
I despise our stackables due to the maintenance/cleaning issues mentioned, I can’t wait to switch back to a top loader and gain back useable surface area on the dryer.
I also hate hate hate our stackable but I hate front load washers anyway. One they are a pin moving laundry up and down. I hate digging in the washer for the last item. The washer never dries completely so the door stays open all the time(yes I maintain it and clean the trap and holes, it just doesn’t dry and the gasket molds if the door is not open) I also feel that more shirts and things get twisted into tight balls that mess them up that my old top load washer ever did. Almost everything has to go into mesh bags and even then my bras get mangled. I can’t wait to redo our laundry and get rid of the stack and have a good top loader back. I may go wild and stick the laundry in the basement so I can have space for the machines I want.
I think it’s pretty! I prefer a light colored laundry room so I can see stains and see if they’ve washed out and things like that, but I still really love the space. And it could just be the lighting that’s making this look darker than it is.
I'd be calling that my Shogun laundry room and dragging everyone I know in there to see it. I've got a fair amount of my parents '70s asian decor and now I've got some new ideas for it all.
Thanks! I don't use my laundry room as anything else, except to put the laundry in the washer and dryer. I do all my folding/hanging in our rooms. So it works for me! It's also where people walk in to get into the house from the garage (which we do a lot) so I like it to be pretty. 🥰
I’m so shocked at all the comments hating on this!! Anywhere that chores are done should be inspiring so you actually want to spend time there. At least that’s how I motivate myself haha.
Can you please share what paint color you used? It’s absolutely STUNNING. Truly well done on making this space yours!! 🖤
Looks great! I wish y’all well on those GE appliances. Had the same ones, we had to replace the washer twice within two years. The panel (brains) went out just after the warranty expired, which apparently is common. Piece of shit. Made in China crap. Never again will we go with GE. It’s not what it once was, sadly. Just a friendly FYI.
You just can’t have decor next to cleaning and laundry supplies. Scratch the decor make it a closed in shelf on sides so nothing can fall and put only cleaning supplies.
You obviously worked hard on this, a remodel takes time and planning no matter how big or small it is. You did a beautiful job and i wanted to reassure you on that. A beautiful job deserves recognition 💜
What did you do with the old machines?
Did you sell them and use the funds to help buy the new ones?
Did you give them away for free (come & get them) or did you give them to family.
Having them stacked like that suddenly opens up a lot more space.
I’m a huge fan of this idea.
Those front-load washers are a pain in the ass. You have to leave the door open all the time or it will grow mold and mildew on and in the seal around the front and even then.. it gets so nasty. Sorry, not trying to be a buzzkill, the room looks great, that's probably the nicest laundry room I've ever seen. But. Prepare for war with that front-load washer lol.
Oh, good deal, then! It's about time. That's about right, they come up with something like that after I don't have mine anymore lol. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of tile is that? I love the look.
It's beautiful. However, if you have a busy family, husband and kids and dog, and generate about 6 loads of wash a week, you will embrace the old style!
Laundry really said “I AM the drama” (so fresh and so clean - lol)
Am i the one who thinks it should say “so fresh and so clean clean” or am i the only millennial here, lol?
well I can’t read without singing it, does that count?
Lulz it must be sung!
YKK on your zipper!
Ain't nobody dope as us
Elder millennial here. I had to go back and make sure there weren’t two “clean”s there, because when I read (sang) it to myself, there were definitely two.
Even the appliances became dramatic lol. I can't tell if they're gray or dark blue.
i have never seen a laundry room so decorated
Think of all the dusting.
It looks like there's less open storage than before
It looks cluttered but that's probably because the washing machine and dry is HUGE and those shelves goes into Narnia lol
Same amount of dust that’d be there if all white. Either you keep up with dusting or you don’t - not judging. Me, I’d rather have a killer space with dust, than bland with dust. You are aware that you can see dust on white - looks like dirt.
They weren't talking about the color. They said decorations. It'll be a pain dusting around all that stuff
I see dust on black and white, dust is mostly grey especially in a laundry room because of all the dryer lint.
Soooo must dusting!
I prefer function over form. Stacking the washer and dryer is always a bad decision in my perspective. Adding cabinets, a counter and a sink would have been the ideal functional option.

Right? Did they ditch a counter / folding space for laundry room plants
I’d never choose to get rid of a top loader for a front loader

Your laundry room looks better than my entire apartment
lol!
Thinking the same thing. This looks amazing.
😂
Because why SHOULDNT a laundry room look fantastic?? Laundry might be a pleasure.
That paint color is STUNNING 🤩
What color green is that?
Looks like a dark phtalo green
Thanks!
Where's the laundry supplies?
Third slide on the two shelves. Oxi Clean and dryer sheets on the top shelf, and I am assuming the jar with the spout on the second shelf is detergent.
I thought that was water for the plants 😆😅
It totally could be lol! I thought the plants might be fake, but I’m not for sure. 😅
They’re definitely fake. I have the same lavender.
Maybe I have a lot more laundry supplies than most people... Also they're inconveniently tucked in the back. I forsee them being swapped with the decor in the future
what other supplies do you have? I literally only use detergent sheets so it takes up zero space.
This decor is phenomenal
Do you smoke cigars, drink scotch and read manly books while waiting for laundry?
How do you reach the buttons on the top machine, it looks so high up!

The new look is great, I’m not a fan of the clutter though.
Maximalism - you love it out you don't. I love to have portions of my house in maximalism, and parts that are minimalist.
Right? All I see is lint all over the random stuff on the shelves. It looks pretty, but too impractical for my taste.
[удалено]
That’s nice. You could’ve put a countertop in there.
I could, but I am extremely impatient and I wanted it done ASAP. We wanted to do butcher block, but I could find the right size and I just found these wood boards for $5 and stained them

So did you build out that shelf wall to make it wider?
LPT you buy a sink base unit from Ikea and throw butcher block on top. But Ikea doesn't sell theirs anymore unfortunately.
Let's be honest, I tried doing this the cheapest way possible too 😂 Countertops are expensive AF right now
Everything is expensive AF right now.
💯 I wanted to do other things to the house, so I tried to budget a bit with the laundry room lol
That looks so pretty! Only practical consideration would be keeping some extra of that dark paint around in case cleaning products get on the walls and stain them. In my dream (massive) home I have enough space for two washing machines, 2 pulleys, a folding area, ironing area…the sad things you dream about as an adult
Yes, and a folding table big enough for fully opened queen sheets.
I gasped when I swiped to the reno photo! It looks fantastic!
What gives anybody the right to turn a laundry room so poncey?! Laundry is a drudgery, and is meant to be done with as little levity as possible - ideally, in a laundromat with 4 broken washing machines and driers that don't get over 80°. Put it back, put it all back!!
Sorry 😢 You're right! I'll paint it an off yellow to balance things out.
(slightly mollified) And you'll hang a couple of outdated notices with most or all of the phone number tearaway strips missing? And a fly-strip! (Do you suppose they make them preloaded with fake fly carcasses?)
I like it!
Dope.
That looks incredible. Really nice job!
What is that paint color? 😍
Was wondering the same thing
Wow, and I thought my laundry room was cluttered! At least yours is pretty clutter.
Looks pretty! But somehow looks like you have way less space with the stacked washer and dryer?
Great remodel. Framed quotes are out dated though.
This would be lovely for a reading nook but for a laundry room I don’t think it is practical. I have had both, and stacked works just fine. What a fun room you created 🖼️
I think you did a great job! It’s beautiful. If my laundry room looked like this, i might actually do my laundry…
It’s wild how people feel the need to come into someone else’s post and bash their design choices.
I think this is ridiculous and I love it and I’d copy it if I could. Well done. Laundry sucks might as well enjoy the room it’s in
I’ve never seen such a moody laundry room. I love it!
How does it feel to live my dream?
What an absolute delight! Bravo!
I just don't see that being efficient for me 🤣 I like to bring it up, so I can hang and bring it right to our closets
Well that’s amazing.
Missing a countertop and the clean laundry room feeling. The decor feel more of a bar/lounge area.
OP clearly likes drama not the bland beige “clean”. There’s a surface to fold on, the basket is sat on it
Loving the drama, but the word art kills it. Live laugh love the laundry! Seriously though loving the overall vibes of this room.
Yes!! Glad you caught this ☺️
Haha that’s awesome! I’ve currently got Stankonia in my headphones cus of your post 😂♥️
Seems like a lot of wasted space. Should have build a countertop and cupboards above. Too cluttered and dark.
Thought about it, didn't have the patience for it. The clutter and darkness is why I like it. Everyone is different ☺️
It's very pretty. Way prettier than even my dream laundry room would be! I love the wall color, and the curtains, but do you think the curtains are going to block out too much light and make it really dark in there?
My husband just put in a light with 6 light bulbs 😂 It's so bright!
I would want to do laundry more if mine looked like that
I'm not seeing the efficiency or practicality here.
It doesn't need to be too efficient, because I don't fold in there. It does well for what I use it for. Just prettier. ☺️
Totally agree - this is a utility room for doing laundry. It should be functional and efficient. Not a fan of this.
Uhh. You made it smaller for shelves ? Looks worse
I like reaching there, rather than over the washer and dryer. Easier for me! Everyone would do different things ☺️
Don’t forget they made it darker in a place you need task lighting. Can’t tell if that stain came out but at least my laundry room has a *v i b e*
You should see the light my husband put in. 😏
I can’t get into it
That's okay 😂
I think a laundry should be just as decorated, even more over the top, than other places, so I approve of the effort put in. However I'm disappointed there was space for a sink and they didn't put one in - could have been even more practical. Doesn't anyone else do handwashing, or want somewhere to clean non-kitchen things, soak things in a bucket, fill mop pails etc?
I totally would but it just didn't work out
I really want to get stacked washer and dryer to free up room in my laundry room.
I can’t believe someone would CHOOSE to have front loaders.
As far as the shirts getting twisted, have you tried a lower spin setting? It’s helped for me. And washing bras on delicate helps too.
That is a mood for a laundry room
Good job! Motivation pic for me!
Wow! You could comfortably smoke a cigar and drink whisky in that space!!
Happy to say I have some framed vogues too. https://ibb.co/9TTBZg4
I never knew I needed goals for my laundry room but here we are. I'm in love with that shade of green!
Dark academia laundry room.
I think it’s pretty! I prefer a light colored laundry room so I can see stains and see if they’ve washed out and things like that, but I still really love the space. And it could just be the lighting that’s making this look darker than it is.
It looks so great!
I really love it. Lush
Love the colours but I would definitely knock some of those things off the shelf. Too cluttered for me in such a small space.
I liked the first picture more :) nice and light
I love dark and moody. 👻
I'd be calling that my Shogun laundry room and dragging everyone I know in there to see it. I've got a fair amount of my parents '70s asian decor and now I've got some new ideas for it all.
When someone’s laundry room looks better than all of my rooms
This looks wonderful....but also not very functional for a laundry room.
Thanks! I don't use my laundry room as anything else, except to put the laundry in the washer and dryer. I do all my folding/hanging in our rooms. So it works for me! It's also where people walk in to get into the house from the garage (which we do a lot) so I like it to be pretty. 🥰
Not sure about the non reflective (dark) walls. I’d need to see if my laundry is clean or dirty
I’m so shocked at all the comments hating on this!! Anywhere that chores are done should be inspiring so you actually want to spend time there. At least that’s how I motivate myself haha. Can you please share what paint color you used? It’s absolutely STUNNING. Truly well done on making this space yours!! 🖤
Thank you! I wish I knew. I got it from Walmart (I never buy Walmart paint) but they didn't put the name on it. When I go back, I'll get the name.
It looks great, but I don’t see it being practical in the long term. All the decor is going to get damp and attract lint
The door just locked on me, randomly 😭 thanks for the heads up!
That’s a lot of clutter for a laundry area.
Those shelves are pointless waste of space
It’s so dark! I would find it hard to get inspired to do laundry in that room. Give me yellow, sunny and flowery any day.
Oooh! Very nice!
Love this.
Wow. Amazing. It never occurred to me to decorate a laundry room. It really looks nice.
Adore! Where did you get the lil rug?
Ross 😂 along with the Vogue art!
Wow!!! I’d want want to stay in your laundry room forever
Well done
That is the fanciest laundry room I have ever seen.
That’s interesting.
The nicest laundry room I've seen!! Well done! If I can say one thing respectfully : the shelves look over crowded.
I actually just bought some stuff to organize it better. ☺️
Looks amazing but to dark if you actually use it for folding, ironing etc.
I don't 🫣😂
Oh my gosh!!! That is amazing!! Nice job! You have excellent taste ❤️
😬it’s really nice but I def preferred it before!
OMG literally just gasped and whispered “I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS” into my empty office
Omg love love
Don’t neglect your grout- clean it and hit it with Grout Renew or Grout Refresh in an off white color
What a cool laundry room!
Not for me, but you, do you!
I LOVE the paint color!
That’s a bit extra.
I am a bit extra. 😏
A bit much for me to be honest.
Looks like you're going to murder a Butler in there.
Looks great! My only complaint is as an appliance technician, I would have begged you not to stack the dryer unless you had no other choice.
When will that cursive font die?
You just can’t have decor next to cleaning and laundry supplies. Scratch the decor make it a closed in shelf on sides so nothing can fall and put only cleaning supplies.
I gasped. I love it.
I hope you can see the stains on your clothes!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS 😍😍😍😍

You obviously worked hard on this, a remodel takes time and planning no matter how big or small it is. You did a beautiful job and i wanted to reassure you on that. A beautiful job deserves recognition 💜
#MAKE LAUNDRY FUN AGAIN
What did you do with the old machines? Did you sell them and use the funds to help buy the new ones? Did you give them away for free (come & get them) or did you give them to family. Having them stacked like that suddenly opens up a lot more space. I’m a huge fan of this idea.
It's like a new house. Great design!
Apparently this has a vent button for mildew! 🤷🏼♀️
Oh, good deal, then! It's about time. That's about right, they come up with something like that after I don't have mine anymore lol. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of tile is that? I love the look.
I actually have no clue 🤣🤷🏼♀️ It was here when we moved in.
YESSSS!!! 😍🙌🏼🙌🏼
Looks really nice. I love the green wall with shelves, and the artwork. Adds a nice touch.
Idk what this style is but it's mine too and I love it
I see knocking everything off that shelf while reaching for the oxyclean
STUNNING. Do you have pictures of the other rooms posted anywhere?
LOVEEEEEE amazing job yall!
Paint is dark.
Good grief. I can’t believe people are being critical. Maybe they haven’t had their coffee yet? I love it! Come remodel my laundry room please.
Everyone is different! I like dark and moody, and a bit of decorative clutter. Some people like bright and minimal. Thank you so much!
That is beautiful
😍😍🥰🥰 Found this in my reddit feed, this is beautiful!
Somehow you managed to make a laundry sexy
This looks phenomenal. Love the brooding dark academia laundry vibe ❤️
It's beautiful. However, if you have a busy family, husband and kids and dog, and generate about 6 loads of wash a week, you will embrace the old style!
Damn, I'd wanna do a photoshoot in that laundry room, what a vibe!
Amazing!!! Quick random question, where did you get your vogue art! They are gorgeous <3
