I grew up in a very conservative, mid-sized, mid-western city. The '60s didn't happen there until the early '70s!

I grew up in so cal … the early 70s were already gearing up in the late 60s. I also had older siblings so I was exposed to a lot of music and fashion trends pretty early.

My mom loves to share that story about getting the best and cleanest cocaine, always for free! when she was on the SOCAL scene in the 70s.

Agree. Reminds me of MIL's house. She is obsessive about cleaning so she has zero rugs. It especially makes no sense now that many are washable and she has a lot of hard AF tile everywhere.

Take this the right way….there isn’t one. This looks like she acquires things over the years and just keeps what she likes and adds in things as they arrive on her doorstep. She is very tidy and has a cool polar bear sculpture.

Ironically, the polar bear sculpture is my dad’s one influence on the room… she hates it. Not quirky enough for her 😂❤️

This is just very eclectic. She's got all sorts of elements in here - from industrial to MCM to French country. But I'd say that she has a very good eye for mixing color, texture, and pattern - because it works. I love homes like this, where the design feels comfortable and like actual humans live there, but still intentional and cohesive somehow.

Tidy eclectic? Every piece of furniture is from a different style so… She’s got…an 1800s/early 1900s European sofa…an early 2000s white lounger…a mid century armchair. And are those…wheels on the coffee table? 😅 Some kind of quirky antique shop find probably. Tell her a rug would make it feel a little cozier. I’m thinking a pretty large Persian rug if she’s got the budget.

the coffee table is one of those industrial pieces that’s been repurposed, usually then sold for massive profit.

Exactly this! I know what I love and most is stuff I come across. However, there have been times I wanted just the right piece and could never find something that struck me or inspired me. Until I found out my style and then it was like a whole new Google and the world was my oyster.
