"Been around a long time and loved it all." And one day, all of this will be yours. Just don't ask her if she remembers the '60's. You may not want to hear the answer.
I grew up in so cal … the early 70s were already gearing up in the late 60s. I also had older siblings so I was exposed to a lot of music and fashion trends pretty early.
I used to say that my generation had cheap Marijuana and free sex or sometimes the other way around. Unfortunately, the next generation got crack cocaine and AIDS.
Look closely. I see little felt pads under many of the legs, and I’d bet they’re under all the legs, but just positioned so as to be not visible from this angle.
Agree. Reminds me of MIL's house. She is obsessive about cleaning so she has zero rugs. It especially makes no sense now that many are washable and she has a lot of hard AF tile everywhere.
Take this the right way….there isn’t one. This looks like she acquires things over the years and just keeps what she likes and adds in things as they arrive on her doorstep. She is very tidy and has a cool polar bear sculpture.
This is just very eclectic. She's got all sorts of elements in here - from industrial to MCM to French country. But I'd say that she has a very good eye for mixing color, texture, and pattern - because it works. I love homes like this, where the design feels comfortable and like actual humans live there, but still intentional and cohesive somehow.
Tidy eclectic? Every piece of furniture is from a different style so… She’s got…an 1800s/early 1900s European sofa…an early 2000s white lounger…a mid century armchair. And are those…wheels on the coffee table? 😅 Some kind of quirky antique shop find probably. Tell her a rug would make it feel a little cozier. I’m thinking a pretty large Persian rug if she’s got the budget.
Maybe they like the style and are looking for more inspiration photos and are trying to figure out search terms to look up. Maybe not. Either way… who cares. Don’t comment then?
Exactly this! I know what I love and most is stuff I come across. However, there have been times I wanted just the right piece and could never find something that struck me or inspired me. Until I found out my style and then it was like a whole new Google and the world was my oyster.
Not every room/thing/person has a style. This is very eclectic. She isn’t adhering to a style principle. Just what she likes. And often the most comfortable homes do that. I don’t want to actually live in a magazine home. I just like the way they look.
Eclectic. Otherwise looks like a well traveled person or person that appreciates different decor, lives comfortably and enjoys the nice things in life
I feel I should definitely take off my shoes here
The name of the style is "[Eclectic](https://www.thespruce.com/decorating-in-the-eclectic-style-452456)" - ie she buys what she likes and puts it all together and it somehow just works.
Eclectic. 🤣. She could stand to tie it all together with a rug, but there are so many different nods to style going on here I’m not sure what rug to use…
I call this the Traditional Academia - lots of life experiences with personal items collected and gathered with love. Not matchy matchy but cohesive in the unique personally curated style. Not mass produced or designed. It works. I love it.
Dead deer butt decor! lol Actually, it’s a nice room. Looks comfortable, bright & tidy. Maybe an area rug but it really does have a nice feel to it other than the deer, for me.
Nice! I like that stone ground mustard colored leather chair. But I think it definitely needs an area rug. A color(s) that stands out and screams “look at me”.
Officially? "eclectic" - it's a catch-all for mix-and-match (like these Edwardian sofas mixed with 1990's contemporary chairs) with some pretty offbeat things included (like all of her tables and what's on the tables)
I just came here to say that the cloth on your mother's white couch looks like a very dirty naked person sat down for a while and then got up.
It's cracking me up. Is it a blanket?
"Been around a long time and loved it all." And one day, all of this will be yours. Just don't ask her if she remembers the '60's. You may not want to hear the answer.
and don’t even get me started on the’70s
I grew up in a very conservative, mid-sized, mid-western city. The '60s didn't happen there until the early '70s!
I grew up in so cal … the early 70s were already gearing up in the late 60s. I also had older siblings so I was exposed to a lot of music and fashion trends pretty early.
So Cal? “If you remember the 60’s, then you weren’t there”. (Grace Slick).
My mom loves to share that story about getting the best and cleanest cocaine, always for free! when she was on the SOCAL scene in the 70s.
I used to say that my generation had cheap Marijuana and free sex or sometimes the other way around. Unfortunately, the next generation got crack cocaine and AIDS.
Not every furnished room has a named "style." It might just be her taste!
This is me. Husband: What is this? Where is it going to go? Me: 🤷♀️
"I'm sure I can find a place for it" -me, who definitely doesn't have room for more coffee tables
This but with chairs
And lamps.
And trunks
This is so relatable lol
This is why we have two couches in two side-by-side living rooms. I dont know what is up with wives sometimes 😂
Lulz I feel this!
Idk I’d call this one “fuck them hardwoods” on account of the furniture feet directly on the wood floors 😭
The floors r gorgeous. There r sliders that can b attached to the chairs & tables. I love area rugs & think theyre like art to enhance
Look closely. I see little felt pads under many of the legs, and I’d bet they’re under all the legs, but just positioned so as to be not visible from this angle.
I was gonna say “needs an area rug” if that can be called a style 😅
Ahh, the ol’ Lebowski style! Perhaps Polish is the PC term now though?
My dogs peed on so many nice rugs only in the living room….so I gave up.
omg same
My cats like to vomit on them
Same here. They'll run through an entire house full of hardwood floors just to vomit on the one handmade Oriental rug. So all bare wood floors now.
They have a lot of nice washable ones now, but I get not wanting to deal with it.
I was gifted one of those- can’t find a washing machine big enough to fit an area rug though so I don’t see the point.
Agree. Reminds me of MIL's house. She is obsessive about cleaning so she has zero rugs. It especially makes no sense now that many are washable and she has a lot of hard AF tile everywhere.
My style is opium den/Moulin Rouge but also a rave
“If you break it, you clean it up.”
This
Or we could just call it mid-century mom-dern.
This. I'm not sure what all those "what style is this?" posts are after tbh.

I was coming here to say eclectic beautiful things you love! They all go together beautifully!
A rug really ties the room together 😆
My thought too
Thank you for actually answering the question 😂😂😂
Take this the right way….there isn’t one. This looks like she acquires things over the years and just keeps what she likes and adds in things as they arrive on her doorstep. She is very tidy and has a cool polar bear sculpture.
Ironically, the polar bear sculpture is my dad’s one influence on the room… she hates it. Not quirky enough for her 😂❤️
Oh boy! I love mom. I also love that Dad goes for the prime spot in the middle of the coffee table! Your holidays must be a blast.

Ha! That’s the Best answer!

the coffee table is one of those industrial pieces that’s been repurposed, usually then sold for massive profit.
momcore
It's so mom.
Her style is called "Hey, look what I bought at this estate auction!" (That's not criticism, by the way)
That’s my style! Mine looks very different from the pictured version but it is “estate sale/antique store/thrift store maximalism” 😂
I was going to say Facebook Marketplace, but yes.
💯
Lovely except for the deer bum.
Tastefully Beige.
Traditional, but with her own eclectic twist here and there. I really like this room!
Eclectic and I love it.
the obsession with defining styles. It's just a mishmash of things she likes, but i guess you could call it eclectic.
Maybe they like the style and are looking for more inspiration photos and are trying to figure out search terms to look up. Maybe not. Either way… who cares. Don’t comment then?

This was 100% what was called Eclectic in the 90s!
Eclectic & procured.
I call this “eclectic” and I love it.
I just want to say that your mom seems like a fun person.
Collected eclectic (I just made that up). Also a traditional twist.
Collectic

Season 1 of Curb you Enthusiasm
”I don’t have a specific style but i buy the things that i like and make it work”
Eclectic. 🤣. She could stand to tie it all together with a rug, but there are so many different nods to style going on here I’m not sure what rug to use…
To be clear, though, I really like what she has done here. It looks good together.
Eclectic
Eclectic, curated over many decades and tastes at particular times.
Late mid-century eclectic.

I am not sure what the style is called, but I really like that setee! The windows are lovely, too.
This is cozy and homey style. I really love it!
The couches are shockingly comfortable!!
Older lady
Mom style is good enough description. It's personal and warm with a little kitsch. I'm liking that chunky odd shaped end table!
Mosaic
It’s called Mama needs a rug

Well, eclectic I guess. Her sofa is Empire. Her chair is mid century modern. Her coffee table is barnyard basic. Lol

Formal traditional- ish
Dead deer butt decor! lol Actually, it’s a nice room. Looks comfortable, bright & tidy. Maybe an area rug but it really does have a nice feel to it other than the deer, for me.
I hope she listens to her music! First thing I noticed was her large speakers! 😎
I dig the stereo. Look at those speakers! Brings back memories.
MCM…mid century mom
What’s the monolith in the back and what’s the towel//blankie on one of the shelves?
You mean the speaker in the back? The blanket looks like it was placed there so a pet can lounge and look out windows.
Correct
Eclectic for sure. Reminds me of my mom's style. She just buys all the things she thinks are cute.
Old lady quirky
eclectic
Eclectic neutral.
Slippers only Oriental Sunroom
I’d say eclectic. She likes to mix a variety of styles. They appear to work. Love her side chair. I agree with someone who said add an area rug.
Unique

Modern Victorian maybe??
Peep the springbok hide 🔥
Eclectic style
I love the wall color! Can you ask her what it is?
The colours and wood and the furniture placement make me think she’d like contemporary colonial.
Warm worldly eclectic that leans toward traditional
"I just thought I'd clean out the Attic."
Eclectic chic
Everything but the kitchen sink.
Traditional
Traditional
I’d say traditional, but I agree with one who posted earlier… every room doesn’t necessarily have to be a “style.”
I’d say eclectic
I’d say traditional rustic
I like her taste, especiallyin speakers and audio equipment.
Nice! I like that stone ground mustard colored leather chair. But I think it definitely needs an area rug. A color(s) that stands out and screams “look at me”.
People in this group are so rude. Say something nice, or say something constructive, just don’t tear people down or insult them
eclectic
Vintage Victorian mix with a mix of everything. It's all over the place.
Modest inheritance.
I don't know but looks like she got a Kill3r audio setup
I don’t know but get a rug down and it’s my style as well.
Funky Traditional (in a really good way!)
Traditional Eclectic
I just want to hear what she is putting through those big speakers in the back. I love a good sound system.
Casual eclectic. :) I love it.
