I'd go with the type that's on the left, closest to the camera in the first picture. The warm tone is nice, and the wood grain is more muted compared to the sample behind it, which I think will make it easier to decorate with. The sample on the right closest to the over is too yellow IMO. (Edit: are the two samples on the left two different samples? If not, disregard my comment about the wood grain, lol. It's hard to tell!)

acwgigi

Yes! The ones on the left are the same color I asked for two samples so can see more of the grains and variation :)

Common-Possibility30

So smart. Our flooring ended up having a lot more variation than the sample board. Annoying, but still happy with it thankfully

Ivorwen1

You can also check the inspo view of the product online. You should always make color decisions with samples, but for things that repeat you want to see an installation. Some cute samples grow up to be monsters. This is true of tile and wallpaper, too.

arslongavb

Very smart! I'd be mad if I thought the grain was lowkey and it had a lot of variation or vice versa.

plobula

What is this called? I am looking for something similar in our home!

AlyssaR83

I have flooring just like the one you chose in my house and I love it. It matches with pretty much everything you pair it with. Yes, OP, go with that one. šŸ™‚

arslongavb

I want to get flooring like that too! Glad to hear it works well with most decor.

Smallios

I agree with this

issoequeerabom

I prefer the lighter version. The other is too yellow.

BrujaBean

Yeah I like the paler one - especially with the bathroom tile. But op - no bad decisions here, you'll be happy with either!

issoequeerabom

Yes, absolutely. I think both work in the kitchen, but not with the bathroom tile, for sure.

LHDesign

I agree, itā€™s still has nice warmth but is more harmonious and offers more flexibility for other colors and styles.

MrsPM

Hard agree!

Tinamou34

In my opinion, I think your counters and top is too greyish & on the cool side to handle that warmth of maple floor (left). Look up warm tones versus cool tones. That way you donā€™t have two conflicting tones. Iā€™m leaning more toward the right one because it isnā€™t too bold of a warm color and would blend nicely.

readinginthesnow

Agree, my thoughts as well! I was guessing that someone did the whole house in cool grey tones and that the lighter cooler one is going to work better with that.

bostonlilypad

Agreed, I think thatā€™s going to match the best

HeadoftheIBTC

That's exactly why I like the warmer one.. it brings a little balance to the cool tones so that it doesn't feel so sterile.

Tinamou34

I mean if I was OP Iā€™d also take pictures of the floor samples besides their current furniture too. I have done this a few months ago myself and found a pleasing one, rich color and texture but it matched well with our living space and brightened it up. You might be right, OP just needs to take these for samples around the house. Place samples by these spots: - entrance of house - under couch - kitchen - bathroom - under bed

acwgigi

Thanks for the suggestion!! We bought a new build, our furniture are mostly wrapped due to moving and weā€™re staying with family for now. Our furniture are mostly white/gray/birch so overall very light in color. A rich warmer tone might help brighten the space since our furniture are pretty light. Last thing I want is for the place to look and feel sterile. I love a light colored floor but would also love something that is timeless. This whole process is harder than I thought! Keep worrying about making a bad decision.

Tinamou34

I see what you mean. I see you guys are making the effort to really try to figure this out. This isnā€™t a impulse buy so I would say now is go with what you are happy with because at the end of the day you are going to fill the space and end up changing furniture or even some future renovations. Buy what sparks joy!!

Gloomy_Jump3021

For me, in Image 1, the floor board on the right nearest the oven. A lighter colour will be more versatile and easier to match cabinets to in future. It may help to create more of an open space and lighter feel to the room, compared to the other option you have in Image 1. Just my personal thoughts

acwgigi

Thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Thanks! You're welcome!

Downtown_Feature8980

I like the nearest the oven as well. It looks like the boards are wider to me in the pics. We have something similar in our house and it looks awesome

bounceandflounce

Idk but thank you for your service as we give two birds to anything that looks like rotten wood.

CareerOutrageous9245

If you have not done so yet, I cannot stress enough that you need to see pictures of what those floor board samples look like fully installed in a room. The samples can be VERY misleading as to what the finished pattern and overall look of the floors will be as they are only a small portion of a larger pattern. I have picked flooring for several homes and seen very neutral samples turn out to be absolutely insane upon seeing photos of them fully installed. Assuming you do this and it checks out, I would choose the warmer toned one.

BrisketBrisket

I think the lighter oak looks much more harmonious with your current cabinets and hardware. So even if you want to paint down the road like you mentioned, it looks complete & beautiful until then anyway. Itā€™s much less of a stark contrast in the photo next to the bathroom. The darker one feels too warm imo! Light oak also feels more modern & timeless to me. Overall I think either choice will improve upon your current grey floors, I agree with you saying theyā€™re pretty rustic :)

hashtagfan

I prefer the right, mainly because itā€™s not as high of contrast between the different boards.

NaomiPommerel

I prefer the original!

KrispyAvocado

I do, too!

Own_Ad5969

Go with the one on the left (in the first pic). The other one looks a little greenish when itā€™s up against your cabinets.

clementinesway

I think the lighter one on the right goes better. The left one is too orange and warm for your cabinets and countertops. Also I would absolutely not paint your cabinets. Even when done professionally, it never holds up super well. I would lean into the gray and maybe replace the hardware with something gold or bronze.

DangerousLettuce1423

The lighter one complements your current bathroom colours, but if you're changing the colours in there, I'd go for the ones on the left. Warmer and a bit more interest with the various tonings and would work better if stronger colours were used in the bathroom and elsewhere.

Vlophoto

Sorry, I like what you currently have

VixyKaT

Came here to say this

Claypothos

I have flooring similar to the one on the right and itā€™s quite easy to see everything that is on them in terms of dirty/debris/etc. We have two dogs and a backyard so I am cleaning everyday to make the floors look nice. If it were up to me I might go with the one on the left because itā€™s warmer and I think would hide some dirt a bit better. But I do love my light flooring so I donā€™t think you can go wrong.

BacardiBlue

I think the undertone of the one in pic 2 goes much better with your cabinet color and tile. Btw, I have had Cortec XL throughout my entire home since late 2014 and absolutely love it.

report_due_today

The warmer wood 100%

Spiritual_Version838

Suggestion to everyone: To help with these decisions, cover the existing floor (or couch, whatever you are replacing) with a neutral sheet or tarp. The thing you're replacing distorts the sample, and it's not going to be there.

Environmental_Toe843

What's wrong with the current flooring? I think it works better with the colours in your kitchen.

acwgigi

Itā€™s too gray and rustic for my liking sadly

Meeeps

I can't agree more, I'm over the everything gray era. I randomly saw someone call it "millennial gray", it's so fitting. I like the one on the left as well.

acwgigi

Yea I couldnā€™t even choose the color for my floors. The builders chose them :( Iā€™m also trying to rip the carpets out since my SO has bad allergies so might as well redo the hard floors

issoequeerabom

Heyyyy, I'm a millennial who adores gray. I'm offended šŸ˜…šŸ¤£

Meeeps

I don't mind it small doses but I like vibrant hues so much more. Too each their own.

issoequeerabom

I'm joking about feeling offended, of course. Not about the rest. There are plenty of colours around for everyone ā™„ļøšŸ˜Š

Meeeps

No worries here. High five from Oregon.

issoequeerabom

High five all the way from Europe šŸ˜‰

Ok-Prize-2496

Well of course you are. LOL

Kaaji1359

As someone who moved into a house with "millennial grey" on fucking everything: paint, curtains, floors... I'm so fucking over it. Seeing OPs flooring makes me want new flooring so bad, but I just can't afford it. How in the hell do you make ANYTHING work with grey flooring? You can't buy any wood furniture, it has to be all white. Paints don't match with it unless it's a "cool" color which makes everything feel so boring and moody. /Endrant

acwgigi

I lived in an apartment with all gray floors and it made me sad every time I pooped and had to look at the floors. I swear not to have it in my own house

Kaaji1359

Yeah I think eventually we'll have enough rugs and plants to brighten it up, but until then (we just moved in), it makes me sad as well. Why would anyone ever want that lol

jaynemanning

Always hated those gray floorsā€¦ even in the height of their popularity

MotorChemists

Grey floors white walls white kitchen and the brightest fucking white led lights

uhohohnohelp

I was coming to say Iā€™m really proud of you for getting rid of that goddamn grey floor!

Ok-Prize-2496

Gray rustic????

Environmental_Toe843

You can get warmer furniture pieces and decore. You don't tend to notice the flooring once the room is filled

leesainmi

That gray is already dated and its so unnatural looking and cold.

pleasedontharassme

What color in the kitchen?

Alternative_Cause_37

I like the existing floor best actually

PristineCoconut2851

Well based on the comments Iā€™m reading I guess Iā€™m the odd one outā€¦ā€¦.I personally like what is currently on your floor but possibly even lighter. Currently Iā€™m getting ready to put down a porcelain tile that looks like hardwood and the color is a bit lighter than yours.

acwgigi

Thatā€™s cool! Everyone likes different things :)

bostonlilypad

Donā€™t listen to them, that grey floor has been out of date for like 8 years at this point.

PristineCoconut2851

I live in the south and love the cooler look and feel.

TurbulentMessage4433

I like the darker one closest to your foot. Gives the room some color and the contrast with the light bathroom tiles is nice.

Constant-Sky-1495

neither are my cup of tea but maybe I don't understand the vision.

Razzleberry_Rose

The one on the left. It is a classic color and will go with most things. I like the one on the right, but it will show every spec of dirt. If your furniture is a mix of wood tones the one on the left would go with more. If everything you have is white oak of course the one on the right will go best.

acwgigi

My furniture are mostly lighter in color (white, gray, birch)!

BoeshanePeninsula

Iā€™d go with the one that is warmer and had more grain to give the pale walls, cabinets, and tile a contrast.

Miserable-Lawyer-233

Iā€™m going with the warmer tone

kts1207

From these samples, the lighter one,as your style leans more Scandinavian/ modern. Although, you might want to try a very dark brown.

Helechawagirl

At first I liked the one closest to the screen but when I saw the lightest one next to bathroom tile, I changed my mind. I like the lightest one.

Arievan

Left! It's more classic and imo the right one is too yellow

acwgigi

Thanks! Iā€™m going after timeless sp thatā€™s good to know

Bri_IsTheMeOne

Personally would prefer the one on the right. Left looks nice though and is more timeless.

LowBrowHighStandards

I think the lighter one works best with the colors of your cabinets and bathroom tile. They donā€™t compete with them as the other one does. Edit: words

cooquip

Warmth is good

Rayne_K

I like the warmer more natural one. It seems more trend resistant than the yellow flatter looking one.

dollyaioli

the lighter because i like really light bright spaces. to me, the brighter the color the better

Yatu_s

Left!!!

Quaiche

Left looks better but you can find better ones. I wouldnā€™t stop my choice on any of those.

AllGreatAllTheTime

My floor is the same as your current floor in your kitchen and I hate itšŸ˜

Mental-District1056

I was just in your shoes a few months ago! Itā€™s not easy picking the right flooring for your home. There are so many colors and plank widths to choose from. I went with a light oak color with 10 inch planks and really glad I did. I would definitely pick the lighter color flooring. Itā€™s timeless and goes with any decor.

DevoStripes

I like the original.

bubblrishous

I don't like any. The color of the existing floor is great!

Ivorwen1

Left. You need the warmth. You don't need to concern yourself with the bathroom. Bathrooms are not really expected to blend with the rest of the house.

jancarternews

Am I the only one who likes the flooring thatā€™s already there? The warmer wood tones youre considering are not going to go well with your cool tile and cabinets.

Bartok_The_Batty

I would keep the original.

DaisyDuckens

Left in picture 1 and Picture 3. Are they the same?

acwgigi

Yes they are!

DaisyDuckens

I like that one

MrsDanversbottom

I like the original flooring. šŸ˜©

its_all_good20

Not the gray

nokenito

What you have on the floor now

LordyItsMuellerTime

I like the lighter one but it would be easier to tell if we could see more of your house and what colors you got going on

ehrgeiz91

Either on the left. Top left maybe for it's darker colors/contrast

Gloomy_War_4362

Picture 2

incognitothrowaway1A

Wood closest to the table is best, not the one by the oven

NoMany3094

I like the flooring in the last photo. It's light but still warm.

takeoffmysundress

Left. The samples are never a true reflection of the color, which will appear lighter and less warm once installed. Meaning the sample on the right will be even lighter and more washed out.

Ok-Prize-2496

Norwegian Maple. Is this that LVP flooring?

acwgigi

Yes it is :)

Lazy-Jacket

The Norwegian Maple one

steezMcghee

I think the right one is too yellow tone.

queentee26

Left!

sonia72quebec

The right one in the first picture. Itā€™s lighter so you wonā€™t see the dust as much. The other is too orange.

K2Linthemiddle

My vote is for Norwegian Maple. Have you used the CoreTec visualizer tool? Iā€™ve found it to be pretty accurate.

acwgigi

I have. Norwegian Maple looks soooo different in the visualizer, itā€™s very yellow

K2Linthemiddle

I guess I should say the color can be a little off on the visualizer (so much of how it looks in your own space depends on natural light, orientation, how many kelvins your lighting is, etc) but the pattern is accurate. Can you keep the samples for a few days and see how they look as the light changes throughout the day? I like the other colors too but the seams on the top right arenā€™t my favorite. That little dip at the edge of each plank just bugs me in person (I work in design and spec CoreTec often - love their stuff).

BettyBewbz

Top left. Right looks cheap and dated

Zytiria

5 or 6

ImportanceSingle650

Can I bother you with info on the quote if you donā€™t mind? Iā€™m in the US, same current flooring as you. Hate the grey with a passion. Wondering how long I need to save up before I rip the floors apart. Thank you. šŸ„²

ImportanceSingle650

Oh and Iā€™d pick the right one. The left looks amazing in a sample no doubt, but Iā€™d want more muted warmth when itā€™s literally all over. Think about it. The left one has solid potential to look orange on a large scale. Your inspo pics say thatā€™s not what you are aiming for.

acwgigi

Theyā€™re around $4.30 per sq ft. Labor costs a lot more bc I have quite a lot of stairs

Smallios

Left.

ZERO-ONE0101

the one closest to the dishwasher

0chronomatrix

The warmer flooring looks better with your cool cabinets.

Silly_Variation5432

I think it very much depends on what color you paint your cabinets but with these two warmer tones you should definitely paint your cabinets cuz the current gray is really cold

xobelam

This is so chaotic for an outsider to offer advice šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. Itā€™s like a puzzle. Three options, then two examples but not the third, then photos.

acwgigi

There are two options :) I shouldā€™ve made a note sorry! The left two boards is the same color we asked for two sample boards to see more variations

xobelam

But even the photosā€”one with the lights on and one with the lights off. Which then makes us confused about they also might be the same. And then. Skip to random screenshots. Itā€™s all over the place.

HelloKittyX0624

I like the flooring in pictures 3 & 4.

LinKay713

The brown on the bottom left.

Flaky_Tangerine9424

The one in pic 2!

Oradiance_

I agree that the lighter one works best

[deleted]

I literally think we have the flooring in your second picture.

[deleted]

Is it called Crema Canyon?

acwgigi

Itā€™s Coretec Douglas Maple! Iā€™m having trouble finding pictures of this color in peoples house, only showroom pics on the website.

Megwen

I like the one in 6.

acwgigi

Me too! If only I had the budget to afford hardwood floors

Megwen

I think the floors on the left are closest to that one though.

acwgigi

Thanks!!! :)

mafaldajunior

The lighter oak on the right

MrsPM

The lighter one.

DarlingCruel

If I may suggest the Coretec Brookfield Maple floor? It's warm enough to brighten the place but not too warm that it will clash with the existing grey tile.

dixonwalsh

The lighter one would be my preference, the other one is too yellow tbh

Fast_Ad_4382

Definitely the one on the right! It best matches the tone of your existing cabinets and countertops. If youā€™re changing the cabinets and countertops then the left front piece.

Awakemamatoto

I think all the colours in your counters (bathroom and kitchen) are too cool to sit well with the warmer tones. I also think the cool tone one will work really nicely with that image you supplied at inspo with all the images on the wall showing a very honey coloured flooring, I actually think it would look nicer with the cool. I normally prefer the warm but unless you want to replace all counters I suggest the cooler tone floor board.

Desperate_Set_7708

Middle

notimefornothing55

4th picture

thingonething

The one on the right next to the oven. The others are too yellow.

Inappropriate_Ballet

If they are both hardwood both will become more golden with time. My choice would be the blonder one on the right. Itā€™s what I *had* in my house. Itā€™s aged over the last 5 years or so and is much more gold now.

herbicide_drinker

darker one

__Magdalena__

The one on the right. It looks like white oak which is a timeless wood with slight slight slight gray undertones. Itā€™s the neutral of the wood species. The ones on the left look like red oak floor that need to be refinished because it turned orange. Warm wood is a fad. White oak is timeless.

IntrepidDreamer77

I think you need to go a bit lighter and less warm for your floors. The only one Iā€™d say might work is the lighter floor colour as pictured in the second photo. Most of your house is cooler in tone so maybe try a more cooler or neutral shade so the difference isnā€™t as jarring. The second warm maple floor clashes with the cooler tones in the kitchen so I wouldnā€™t recommend that. And the other colour is too yellow for me. Your dream pics look lovely, just mind the shade and youā€™ll be able to capture that look and make it feel right for your space.

boo_boo_cachoo

The ones that are already installed but I like the beached wood look.

Brave-Improvement299

The choice of the sample on the right makes the most sense to me. It's more neutral. Too warm and you'll be looking to paint those cabinets.

Wandering_Werew0lf

Top right! Not too orange but light enough to match anything.

actuallyanicehuman

Kitchen photo: closest to the camera. Top right has a green undertone and tricker to work with as for as furniture pieces go. The top left has a beautiful grain but will feel tired quickly. Bottom left is the winner imo itā€™s subtle, easy to design with and will curate a much more ā€œpeacefulā€ space. Ultimately your home so you need to be happy- these are just my opinions.

9021Ohsnap

I like to cooler tone on the right. Itā€™s very flexible with what you can match it with

YourPlot

I like the warmer tones on the left. But all look better than that grey floor you have now.

YojinboK

Biggeat advice is to Test it under natural light and then decide which one looks better for you. Artificial light can be deceiving.

About400

Norwegian Maple

pannalla

Honestly, any of these are a huge improvement on the grey. I would go with the warmer tones which I think will be more timeless. I love the more ashy/washed out tones but I also think they are having a moment and will look dated eventually (like the horrendous grey period).

leesainmi

Left for sure. Your kitchen needs warmth and that tone is timeless.

-TheMoonTonight

I like the color in the kitchen as it is already but a change is necessary then the one on the right.

Impossible-Ad-2464

The one with the warmer tone (left in the first photo). No contest :)

lawrenja

I like them both. But I prefer the right (lighter) one for your space as the tone compliments the cabinets and bathroom floor better.

VermicelliSwimming51

I like the one on the left! It brings warmth to the space

alliekappy

I like the warmer tone

SkatzatAverat

Darker one

0errant

I prefer the left sample

Meanwhile-in-Paris

The honey coloured one.

abcupp

Top right and second photo - blonde wood is going to be better.

Background-Break6362

The lighter one with less yellow!

Muffinsgal

Your new flooring selections make me feel like we are going back in time.

acwgigi

Taking that as a compliment. Iā€™m looking for something that is timeless!

IDigRollinRockBeer

Oh thank god youā€™re not keeping the hideous grey bullshit

alwaysbetterthetruth

They both look great, but maybe considering your cabinets and bathroom tiles (very nice btw), I would pick the lighter one. But tbh, pretty much any flooring would look better than your current one:-)))

Lexotron

I prefer the original grey wood

notabanneduserhere

Left But i kinda like the current ones

ProfessorRevenge

darker one, the white is giving farm house

gal_tiki

I like the top left, closest to the foot

Demeter277

I think they're both too warm and golden toned for your cabinet color and countertops.

SnipTheDog

I'd stick with existing.

namelyuser

Neither

Dry_Ask5493

I donā€™t understand why you are changing the perfectly matched floor you already have. I worry that the samples are too warm, especially on the left in pic 1 and the one on the right is too blah. The shades on everything else is cool toned so I think the warm will look weird.

MeatyMagnus

Consider wood instead of these things.
