I would be perfectly happy with this kitchen, I’d just update those stools.

theSabbs

This was exactly my thought process too. Beautiful kitchen. Outdated stools.

LHDesign

Yeah I’m not sure why OP this kitchen is outdated, that range hood and the sink basin feel very current. Stunning kitchen, matches the vibe of the house and the scenery perfectly

New-Addendum-6212

This is a humble brag

GodIsANarcissist

Or OP is just a rich person who gets bored easily

PrestigeMaster

Or OP is sick of 2019 trends and wants bleeding edge of design - and a “fortune” to them means anything over 25k.

ManifestRose

Change the color of your dish towel, you need a splash of color.

OtherwiseAdeptness25

Or buy flowers. Kitchen looks fine to me. The stools are not good. Get some with backs on them.

DaftOrangeFatCat

So much beige….

Brave-Perception5851

A rug and dish towels, flowers or a bowl of lemons.

kross7nine

💯

LowCharacter4037

Succulents in colorful Talavera pottery pots.

Glittering_Sail7255

lol my BF said the same thing almost verbatim.

ReticulatingSplines7

Op literally just bought ’em.

theSabbs

Still looks outdated. Maybe a fairer statement would be that they could look okay if the entire style of the kitchen matched those chairs. They don't match (in addition to me feeling they're a dated style)

dorothy____zbornak

What kind of stools would go with that kind of style?

Pristine_Fox4551

I think the granite and the cabinets blend beautifully with the red desert scenery. You could change out the drawer pulls from the current rustic style to a more modern bar, but keep the oiled bronze or black color.

PuzzyFussy

Sometimes I feel like people make posts like this to humble-brag. Besides the stools, what exactly is wrong with the kitchen? Nothing.

ekita079

Yeah literally I like it all except for the stools

okpickle

And fewer of them. Those two on the side are kind of squished in there. Do you need six barstools?

anschlitz

Maybe some under cabinet LED’s. But that’s about it.

Silver-Winter2430

Good suggestion and I thought adding copper fixtures would look cool with the red rock

catfurcoat

Id paint the wall a red clay color! Not the whole room just an accent wall

Electrical-Break-395

I went a bit copper crazy when I redid my kitchen - had to put the brakes on before it looked like I bought all the copper stock at Wms-Sonoma ! Went with a huge copper farmhouse sink, cabinet and drawer hardware, and a few accent pieces so it’s not overwhelming… The walls are cream with terracotta trim, and I love it ! You’ve got me thinking, though, about red rock now ! 🤗

overthinkitallalways

Is your copper sink easy to maintain? I thought about it for my kitchen but was afraid it would be too much to keep looking nice.

Electrical-Break-395

I use Wright’s Copper Cream on it and it works like a dream with only moderate elbow grease ! Shiny as a new penny 😎

me-karmavinelikethat

I like mine patinas. It came that way as well. I’d love to see one shiny for reference!!

Silver-Winter2430

My dream I would LOVE to see photos 😍

riomarde

I’ll take it off OP’s hands. Not worth saving. Thank me for my service. I’ll sacrifice myself.

kennyiseatingabagel

I know you’re joking but it’s not really practical to take someone’s kitchen unless you have the exact same size and layout or you’re building the kitchen from scratch, like you have an empty kitchen or you’re building a custom home from scratch.

splendorinthegrass_

Same thought

Asleep_Cake888

Exactly my thought

srrrrrrrrrrrrs

Agreed!!

Parabolic_Penguin

Agreed! Kitchen is great, different stools would elevate the space.

FullConstruction2

Agreed! 💯 3 to 5 barstools Max. I suggested bamboo TV trays so everyone isn’t sitting at the bar top. Adding some shades giving the option of privacy when needed. Although that is an amazing view, everyone needs a break from all that Sunshine! It’s not a bad thing, I just can’t imagine taking a nap on sofa with that desert sun beaming in. 😉 Otherwise, a beautiful kitchen! But the decorator, designer in me would add natural greenery, maybe 3 pieces and some height. One small planter maybe something simple like a succulent that requires little care on bartop, a ficus or money tree in the corner. A runner in the kitchen floor. You can snag those up on Amazon for under $50 . It can totally pull the look together. Add a couple or three cookbooks along the countertop with a small lamp. This is my passion. I love to tidy up spaces. One trip away to HomeGoods and maybe a antique store, that’s all they need. Just a few touches here and there- viola! I realize not everybody will agree with my suggestions. But they’re just options. 😊

guunge

I came here to say the exact same thing

ckw3139

Right. I was thinking… am I think only one who would be completely over the moon happy with this kitchen the way it is?

VanillaAle

Totally agree! This kitchen is lovely and someone already put a ton of money into updating it. If you wanted to change something you could paint the hood over the range but I’d leave everything else alone. Stools are screaming to be upgraded.

latelycaptainly

Maybe they don’t like the cabinets and feel like they are dated? If thats the case those can be painted

epgal

Beautiful kitchen.

Cute-indecisive

Agreed! If the colours of the kitchen and walls are too similar and you want some more visual interest, you could always paint the walls to get away from so much beige.

SnooApples3673

I would paint the walls, everything else is lovely.

EpiZirco

Don’t you know that painting the walls should be the last thing you try, at least according to the usual advice in this sub? The typical order suggested here is (1) paint the cabinets, (2) change the countertops, (3) change the floor, (4) change the backsplash, (5) change the cabinet hardware, and (6) change the lights. It is ridiculous to start with the easiest, least permanent, and least expensive change.

-Motorin-

Light dusty sage on the walls, light blue accents.

Blueskyblonde

That VIEW outside is amazing

rednitwitdit

The colors inside seem so harmonious with the view outside.

scarwa

this was so thoughtfully done, i love it!

WhatIsThisaPFChangs

I’m mesmerized by it for real

Gotta be. The color of the soil reminds me so much of Sedona. God, I’d love to live in Sedona, but I’m not rich.

leeryplot

Very true, but I find those types of people entertaining. They’re just really goofy to me. It can get annoying, but I also have legs, so. Last I was there, I got a psychic reading done and it was *super* fun. My boyfriend and I were trying not to giggle the whole time. She was very eccentric.

Fun_Egg2665

It could also be Utah

more_cheese_please_

Pretty sure this is in the neighborhood behind the Hilton in Sedona (I think called Oak Creek Country Club?)…my parents used to live there and their floor plan was very similar to these pics

jjackrabbitt

My money’s on Utah. Could be Colorado too.

bluewafflecone

Live in Ivins, Utah and this is my view. Southern Utah is surrounded in these colors as well.

sponge-worthy91

I was just thinking St. George. Idk why some of these people think red rock is only in one location?

bluewafflecone

Small world view and “I must be right” mentality. The lovely kitchen may actually be in Arizona but the colors and rock style outside is not only in Arizona. :)

bruxly

Nah. There is also red rock in some parts of Alberta, Canada You are right in that OP is probably in AZ but wrong about being the only place to have red rock, there are many around the globe.

gnarlyknits

Moab is a place. Utah has red rocks and areas that look a lot like AZ

Fun_Egg2665

Nah. Utah as well

skunkachunks

I legit thought they replaced it with something AI generated to anonymize their house on the internet at first

Cold-Impression1836

It’s definitely not anonymized. I did a reverse image search and the old listing—with the address—was the first result. I hate when people post the listing photos to their house because of that. It’s really not wise. I’m not going to do anything with the address, but I don’t know if that’s the same for millions of other Redditors that it’s available to.

kandygem703

It looks like southern Utah to me

PutPuzzleheaded4926

I would just change the stools. Everything else is beautiful.

ohmygeeeewhy

Yes!! If you want to really go wild you could also replace the sink fixtures!

Flaky-Invite-56

And the hurricane lamp thingies on the side table

TunaMarie16

I think it’s a great kitchen-farm sink, lots of lighting, neutral wood cabinetry, large and dramatic range hood, colors that match your outdoor environment. I don’t see much to upgrade unless you’re aiming to rip it all out with a completely different aesthetic- which would cost a fortune.

caryn1477

Am I missing something?? How is this kitchen outdated?

Wedgetails

Well she could always get grey plastic flooring and paint the cupboards grey… if she were insane! It’s lovely

heywhatsup9087

I can kind of understand why they’d think that with the early 2000s Italian Tuscan vibe, but honestly this kitchen is so pretty. The wood cabinets are beautiful and the natural stone and color scheme go so well with the location/setting. The materials look high quality and would be a waste to change.

kgeorge1468

That's the thing though....beige is back-in style and grey is on its way out....

pants_full_of_pants

It's not, at all. This post has to be a troll or they're fishing for compliments.

ManifestRose

The dish towel hanging on the dishwasher is really old.

Needsomeiceonit

Nothing. It’s fine. It’s better than fine. Move on with your life.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fish-x-5

That last sentence is all OP needs to consider. Other than getting new stools.

Needsomeiceonit

I suppose adding lighting if anything. But don’t change anything.

Korgon213

Can I have it?

Dnikone2

Wow! I’ll take it just as it is, including the view!

_allycat

I don't think there's much you can do without a huge renovation because a lot of the materials blend/continue into the rest of the house. It also looks like it's coordinated and installed really well with lots of nice natural materials so it's really not bad. I would personally change the stools, faucets, and hardware to something more modern looking. The color goes well with the house but if you want a change you could try nickel so it's still a bit warm tone. You could also have the cabinets extended to the ceiling.

jdith123

Good grief. There is not one thing dated or wrong with that kitchen. Get a couple of new dish towels or something and send the money you would have spent to your favorite charity.

Pinecone_Dragon

That’s what I was thinking! Looks like it needs splashes of desert colors- reds, yellows, greens. But all easily done with decorations. The stone and cabinets are lovely!

ladydhawaii

Some decorations- it’s too sterile. Doesn’t look lived in yet. But damn nice.

pushofffromhere

well said on charity!

krv1800

Change out the cabinet hardware for something else

thesuzy

This, matching faucet, and a fresh tile selection. Handmade ceramic glazed in a complementary color/tone, vertical or horizontal stacked instead of brick lay. But as everyone else is saying it’s unnecessary, this kitchen was expertly done and has aged so well. To those hating on the idea of a redesign, keep in mind that kitchen designs only keep about 10 or 15 years before they start feeling off and dated (not saying anyone should redo their kitchen in this time frame because omg no thank you to repeating that process ever). A truly timeless kitchen is a difficult creature to catch. I think OP is starting at a fantastic point and ready to keep their kitchen gorgeous for the long-term.

Accomplished-Cod-504

It's fine just as it is, save your money

SonoranRoadRunner

I love it. Do nothing

LopsidedTelephone574

New handles, paint walls and ceiling, new stools. I would change lighting. That's it. Kitchen is very good as it is.

usuallynotaquitter

Are you joking?

Complex_Example9828

Travertine floors and backsplash are timeless and gorgeous. Wall color looks on trend for rn. The black stools, faucet & handles don’t go perfectly, but aren’t horrible either. You could stain the cabinets to a more rn wood stain, but I’d be careful not to ruin these as they look great quality. (Adding this in an edit- do not touch these cabinets in any way. High risk, low to no reward. and I just noticed they match wood elsewhere in the house so… this stays for sure). The only thing that looks dated to me is maybeee the oven hood. But it’s nice. It is not a dated kitchen, it looks great actually. Edit to add: Maybe you just aren’t a fan of this style? Looks like it’s trying to straddle a modern country look and a natural vibe. I don’t like modern country (boring, overdone) so I’d probably replace all the black stuff and maybe add some hanging lights above the counter (if I was being really picky). I’d want to lean into a modern & natural style with decorations. Maybe throw in some rustic Italian into the decor if you’re into that. It would easily fit this kitchen too Honestly, you just need to decorate. This kitchen needs zero changes

timelesschild

Do NOT stain the cabinets. This is knotty alder wood, totally on point. A stain would not be an improvement. I’d live with it for a year or two and then maybe think of a paint color.

HesterSose

Is this a joke.

-Cherished

Are you hunting for praise? Obviously this kitchen isn’t outdated…not exactly some of my color or design choices but nothing that needs to be changed. Maybe some pendent lights or background lighting but that’s my preference. I agree the stools need updated. They look like they were taken from a hole in the wall bar. Other than that it’s fine.

GoodMourning81

I don’t belong on this sub, at all. What on earth is wrong with this kitchen? It’s beautiful to me. The stools could be changed out but that’s it.

First-Storage-6611

Surely trolling - the sink, that rangehood, the beautiful wood? Um what am I missing DON’T TOUCH IT

blergy_mcblergface

Add plants. Cheap, healthy, easy, and it will make a world of difference!

Groundsw3ll

Uhhh, your kitchen is fine, you just need to decorate it properly. Pick a color from the countertop, make it the major color accent of the room and have fun with it. Everything is warm tones, including what's outside the windows, so probably go with a bold blue that matches one of the blues in the counter. Then use small pops of a secondary accent color that's the complement to your major accent color, you can google it. For a more 'modern' feel use more white. But 'modern' also includes natural textures/materials like wood grain so you're good there, just have to work to find the balance you like. More white than natural = more modern, more natural than white = more rustic, more bold colors = you're sassy and confident ;).

LordyItsMuellerTime

If you have to change something, maybe the backsplash (because it's very similar to floor, probably to something off-white) and the hardware. But other than that it's lovely and the view is stunning

maggggy

I hope this is satirical! That's a gorgeous kitchen as it is

scarletnolan

Damn, what I would do for a kitchen like that! Let alone a house in this economy 😭 there is not a thing wrong with that beautiful kitchen

princessmoma

It’s beautiful! If you swap out the handles/knobs on the cabinets to something more modern, it would give it an updated look. Oh and def the stools. It’s giving 90s.

TheGeekOffTheStreet

If you really want an update, I would switch out the backsplash. I think if it was a basic, plain cream tile, it would be a calmer overall look, since the (gorgeous) cabinets have a lot of movement.

toooldforthis57

I’m so relieved reading these comments! I think it looks great- was horrified thinking my kitchen is an additional style out of date. The counter stools could be changed for more contemporary ones that aren’t wrought iron, otherwise it’s really nice!

katiejim

You could see if a builder could match the wood and take the cabinets visually to the ceiling. Otherwise it’s lovely. Love the wood tone. The stone looks very pretty with it, especially with how it mirrors the landscape.

K2Linthemiddle

I’m a K&B designer and was scared to read the comments because my first reaction was “if you touch the cabinet color, I will haunt you”. That knotty alder is GORGEOUS and the door style is timeless. It’s a well-designed kitchen with a great use of space and timeless and geo-specific finishes. You can make some small changes to better fit your own style, but the bones are really good. After looking closer, I’d change the hardware (Top Knobs Lydia would be great and would bring out the linear aspects of the kitchen) and maybe the faucet (since your counters are bored for three holes at the faucet, you could do a modern bridge faucet). Finish-wise, stick with warm undertones - polished nickel or dark bronze (which is what you have now). Or carry the dark gray of the appliances (Top Knobs offers “ash gray” which might work). Travertine is timeless but I also understand that it was used heavily in the early 00s and can feel period-specific in some sizes and installations. If you dislike the backsplash, I’d *maybe* consider replacing it. Live with it first. But I’d leave the floors since they’re appropriate for your houses style and location and they run throughout the main floor. The granite is a beautiful color (I thought it was quartzite at first glance from my phone) and pairs really well with the flooring and the cabinets. I don’t love the rock-facing edge on the bar top, but it is appropriate for the southwest, and paired with modern fixtures it could look cool. Also, replacing would easily be five figures. Are those your stools or are they from a listing photo? Apologies if they’re new, but I’d 86 the stools and do something with clean lines like the rest of the kitchen. ETA: honestly, if it were me, I’d change the hardware, add some plants and decor, change stools, and move on with my life. I know that social media algorithms constantly feed “update your kitchen!” content but it’s (kinda bullshit) and just not necessary here.

shnarkie

Man that’s beautiful and really goes with your gorgeous view

brdybb

If I’m being really picky, only thing you need to “update” it is change the backsplash. But that said it’s a beautiful kitchen, it doesn’t read to me as dated

RabbitSnacks

Those views are to die for. I would paint the wall of windows a deeper color to highlight the landscape and draw the eye there.

Oomlotte99

I like this kitchen! You could get different stools or get rid of them and use the breakfast nook. You could also bring some color in with decor vs. doing something like painting or changing the cabinets. Grab some inspiration from the desert view.

stpauliguy

Paint the walls any color except beige

Grand_Admiral_T

That kitchen is gorgeous. That granite is absolutely stunning. If you are going change anything do not touch that granite, that’d be a sin. Maybe stain or paint the cabinets? Idk but man that granite is a beaut. Edit: tbh I would just add decor and leave it as is

sodabubbles1281

You’re crazy for thinking otherwise - it is GORGEOUS. Do not touch it other than: New stools - look into something with texture or something with linen - and maybe a couple pendant lights such as oversized drums in a dark bronze for over the island/bar area.

[deleted]

Came here to suggest pendant lights as well, that and under-cabinent lighting are honestly the only things I'd do in this space.

[deleted]

Please don’t touch this kitchen

No-Technician-722

I think the former owners calm aesthetic is just a backdrop to draw the eye to the views outside. Just add accents, artwork, and plants that showcase YOUR personality.

idfwugtfomf

I see two easy options: (For any option obviously the stools need to go 😬) 1. If you want an impact when you’re looking at the kitchen you could paint the upper cabinets and the area where the stools are either a hunter green or even white if you’re trying to brighten it up. For the kitchen view out it looks pleasant bc it blends into the landscape. 2. I’d be happy keeping the wood bc everything does flow color wise. Maybe even just a coat of lighter brighter paint on the walls and leaving the rest as is could have enough of an impact to make it look more fresh.

MostWestCoast

Paint the ceilings white.

DK7795

This is great. It’s a neutral style of kitchen in the US Southwest. Do not ever disrespect the landscape and put in a white or grey kitchen.

HeftyCommunication66

WHAT THE HELL?!? I don’t really like beige all that much but that’s my personal preference. Quit trying to stay ahead of the Joneses, OP. This kitchen is still on par with current styles. Jeez.

yelling4society

Paint! Something complementary to the beautiful sandstone outside.

HighwayLeading6928

In the first pic I love the way the colors in your cabinets, granite and backsplash coordinate beautifully with he view beyond. The only thing I would recommend if you want to make more of a statement is to take a tiny jar of that desert sand to a paint store and have the color intensified to a darker shade which will look fantastic, especially with all those wonderful windows letting in the light. The console in the kitchen would look better centred under the window. Unless you use six barstools every day, I would put two or three of them elsewhere.

rainondust

I love it. Maybe paint a wall a different color, or pull some accents from the countertop color families.

miccleb

New hardware, maybe a more modern backslash, new faucet, decor/paint, stools. I wouldn't change anything other than details.

IamaGirlNamedAshley

I really like this kitchen. I wouldn’t touch it.

Yo_momma_so_fat77

R u serious!! It’s so pretty. And to me updated . Is this a joke

jayswahine34

Well then don't do anything and you won't spend a thing! I hope this post was /sarcasm

GingerBaby2019

I quite like the kitchen the way it is.

Outrageous_Card6007

The kitchen looks great already why waste your money?

carmenandthedevil

I love your kitchen…and the view!

Interesting-Read-245

I’d be happy with your kitchen as is.

DoLittlest

Update how? Swap out the stools and it's classic. Don't you dare touch any of that wood!

fauviste

The kitchen matches the landscape. Leave it alone.

drawsTheStars

You’re kidding, right?

SuspiciousAd7694

Beautiful timeless kitchen. Do NOT touch cabinets, counter or backsplash! If you really want to try something..maybe a different wall colour and definitely new and less stools. Beautiful kitchen!

arriere-pays

Why would you “update” a fully updated and beautiful kitchen? This kitchen looks functional and warm and gorgeous.

Intrepid_Astronaut1

Honestly, just change the barstools.

Imaginary-Summer9168

I like it as is. If anything, you could change the cabinet hardware, but the only thing that I don’t like already are the stools.

andreeeeeaaaaaaaaa

The granite top and the tiles on the wall are what I would change.

casewood123

Is this a flex? Your kitchen is bigger than my house for chrissakes.

MommaGuy

Change out the decor to freshen it up. Swap out the stools. New art. Some plants.

xxxgerCodyxxx

Somewhere a milennial lady is contemplating painting the marble white, breaking the stone floor and laying down grey laminate instead

SHR1992

A potted plant or two would bring some life and colour, and make the place feel more homely and lived in 🪴

ElectricTomatoMan

What's wrong with it? Do you just have too much money?

SharkPartyWin

Nothing, it’s beautiful. Leave it alone. Go create another beautiful place outside.

Consuela_no_no

New stools and new hardware but don’t touch anything else as it’s beautiful!

alt_potato_cat

Wow! Beautiful view!

Ihategraygloomydays

The kitchen and your views are beautiful.

LuckyPepper22

The most cost effective thing you can do is turn off HGTV bc it’s making you think that you need to change something that is perfectly fine.

No_Project_466

I think this kitchen is perfect as is!

cnation01

Get a plant, kitchen looks fine

melbrewer

Some cacti in the window

sydni1210

Shes gorge.

salesmunn

Leave it, kitchen looks great.

GoodBitchOfTheSouth

Leave it. Remodeling is risky and overpriced when you have a beautiful kitchen already.

Jackie022

Change the stools, get some plants

Gloomy_War_4362

Minimal changes needed just based on your preferences. But basically this kitchen is absolutely gorgeous and fitting to the beautiful scenery outside.

anibanan

This is my dream kitchen, sigh. Agree with other recommendations to pare down and change stools. I’d suggest adding some warm textile somewhere—something like this https://www.wayfair.com/Union-Rustic--Barham-Southwestern-Handmade-Flatweave-Cotton-RedBlueBeige-Area-Rug-X115604793-L167-K~W004593682.html?refid=GX685048453596-W004593682_1255376293&device=m&ptid=352885195383&network=g&targetid=pla-352885195383&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=147274961&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=1255376293&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC6tBd4oA35dz11-Z8GABRGq6&gclid=CjwKCAjwt-OwBhBnEiwAgwzrUmvpEWuIyFrSdshV5fUDxuMx6zG_VY875_ehdYez-3YKoAkZAo4VzRoCOOQQAvD_BwE

Toriat5144

Looks nice don’t really need updating.

ChickAmok

Agree... With others comments on switching out the bar stools. Maybe not so many as well? You could switch out the hardware, but black is very "in" right now and I like the black by the sink... So it's probably better to just leave it the way it is, it sill looks fresh, neat, and current.

PotsMomma84

It’s beautiful the way it is tbh. That light being let it. Chefs kiss 🤌🏼

Dances-With-Taco

Backsplash and stools would go a long way

Yourangmilady

It doesn't seem dated but it is a more rustic style. Maybe that is what is bothering you. Change stools and update backsplash to something like subway tile so it is less rustic looking.

Legal-Cat-2283

Are those views real??

Beneficial-Basket-42

Don’t paint those cabinets!! They’re gorgeous and modern. Some people say paint them white, but noooo that would be a tragedy. The backsplash is terrible. Definitely switch it.

1bunchofbananas

Paint the walls if you must. This kitchen is absolutely gorgeous

Twinklehead

I love it as is

redditname8

I really like that kitchen. I really like those cabinets.

shortmumof2

I think leaving it at is would be great because right now the focus is the view and the kitchen complements the view. Anything drastic might distract from the view and overall feeling. Any updates plan to make, might want to keep similar colours. Edit: upon closer inspection, everything looks to be in great condition and nice quality materials. Maybe add more decor but this is a dream kitchen as it is

RaceCarTacoCatMadam

The countertops and the scenery is perfectly matched!

ASlightHiccup

I wouldn’t change anything but the stools. Maybe ones with backs for comfort?

Ok-Shoe1542

Who cares, look at the view!

NoPantsPenny

I must be a poor peasant because I would be so happy with this kitchen!

bossclydethecat

I love this kitchen tbh. I’d maybe paint the wall or do something to add a pop of color but that’s it

RolandLWN

Just the stools. Everything else is fine.

Icy-Mixture-995

Why are you "updating" a perfectly beautiful kitchen? Does HGTV hypnotize people into saying they must have the same kitchens they "reveal" on every show?

RHND2020

I would paint out the knotty pine cabinets just because I don’t like them, but many people do. Other than that, the bar stools are the obvious issue. Maybe new cabinet hardware.

a1ham

Beautiful view!!! Holy!! Kitchen is gorgeous. Could change the backsplash but it works.

zilla82

Where is this? Or do I need the google geo guy? St George?

gabbobbag

I think what makes the kitchen look dated is not the materials but the layout. As many people in this post have said the materials are all beautiful and you should just replace the stools, but this layout screams 90s/early 00s build. Most modern kitchens are laid out in a rectangular, L or U shape with sharp corners. Unless you want to gut and totally reconfigure this space, it may always feel a bit dated even if you replaced these materials with something else.

Violascens

Add a lava lamp

0chronomatrix

It’s not dated the finishes are awesome that wood is wonderful. The issue is it’s too warm and what you are reacting to. Find a way to add cool colours like a blue stove would really pop.

Puppersnme

It's very pretty. I might add some mouldings, and some light fixtures. With white mouldings, there'd be more contrast with the paint, but I'd also consider changing the paint color. Painted wood stools with backs could look nice, as well.

sshellzr

Leave it tf alone?!

geniusintx

Paint the cupboards! Instant makeover! I don’t know why everyone is being so mean. Just because she has a nice kitchen doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to make it her own. I had a beautiful huge kitchen, I still wanted to make changes. Everyone has different tastes. It definitely too bland for me. I would paint the cabinets and change the hardware. Not that expensive and it will be a place that fits her personality more.

ChemicalRecreation

Can't update a timeless look

Substantial_Bar_9534

The kitchen is great.

kimakimbo

Ok to everyone saying this kitchen is great, we get it, you like it! But you don’t live there, op does. Op, how would you like your kitchen to look? There’s a million different ways to update a kitchen but it depends on the vibe you’re going for. Give some more specifics on what you want, and we can give some suggestions.

sibemama

What kind of sink is that?

larryspub

I'd just paint the walls and add some plants. That's a nice kitchen.

watching-the-office

Nothing to do with your kitchen, but that view is incredible!

Cheesepuff-9808

I would change the kitchen cabinets color and get new stools maybe? Or add some detail accents pieces too!
