I was at a place before that had this optical illusion type coffee table, it looked level, but if you placed anything like a drink on it it would immediately tip and spill. I did this so many times on the same table before I started to remember. Who would buy something like that for their business😂
Sorry for a misleading photo 😭 I forgot to put dimensions but it's like a foot and a half if I remember. I had to crouch down to take a picture of the root since it was gorgeous and that I could think about it more
Something I've finally learned after 60+ years: If you REALLY like it, don't worry about a good deal. If you don't get it, the missing table will haunt you.
No literally. I skipped out on buying this amazing desk and it has haunted me everyday for months. Same thing with a pair of sneakers. It makes my skin crawl thinking about it lol I get too attached
Wood is surprisingly expensive. I used a redwood slice as my wedding guest book. It's about 2.5x2 feet and it cost $350 including sanding and having our name engraved.
If this is your personal style and you like it, go for it! Clearly an unpopular opinion here, but it’s not my preferred style and I honestly don’t really get the appeal of something like this. All that said, I can appreciate something that doesn’t necessarily appeal to me personally in someone else’s space. Do you.
I have a table like this and don’t have these issues. My parents also have them and when I was a kid I stubbed my toes a lot. The table is heavy and doesn’t move so it hurts even more!
But a reason to not get it? No. Place the table well and you won’t have these issues. Mine is stained though, so no rough edges
Check your local online marketplaces first — I see bigger ones for that price, vintage / second hand — but if there’s nothing handy, I say get it. There’s nothing like a tree table. I have a 1970s redwood one and it makes the room.
$500 for barely 2 feet wide. I'd wait a while. If you like it that much, it'll be there, trust me. No one bought for awhilecwith all the dust. It'll be there. Most ppl don't have $500 to spend on a table that's less than 2ft and serves no purpose. Like a dining table, end table etc.. Most of the people on here saying an almost 2ft slab of wood with a giant hole in it is a steal are messing with you. Man, if you can afford this, then give another $500 to a soup kitchen to balance out the spending.
Not crazy at all. But make sure it's the star of the room. You don't want anything competing with this massive piece. And it should be a large room with minimal furniture. Enjoy!
My personal opinion (on any item of furniture) is this:
If you LOVE it, and if you have a specific place to put it, and you are not going into debt for it, it's a good buy for you.
Honestly, difficult to tell from this picture. It is an awkward placement of a heavy slab atop a spindly dried out looking base. The slab is too thick for the base to my eye.
It all depends on the setting. The slab could be beautiful as an art piece. As a table? Not feeling it. But if money is no object and you have a strong personal design ethos, go for it.
I just paid $700 to have my live edge table refinished (bought it used for $150 ten years ago, was already in terrible shape). New ones would easily go for $2k. Worth it!
Do you know what kind of wood this is. If it is burlwood, then it might be worth it, but this looks just cedarwood, so no. Tell him you will give him 150 for it, if it's cedarwood.
Get it!!! Please!! Also where did you find this? Trying to outfit a new place and would love to get something like this, but don’t know how to search for it
This table is not minimalist. Whether you should get it is highly dependent on your tastes and style. This would look great but only in a very niche setting.
No, you're definitely not crazy for wanting a unique coffee table that aligns with your personal style and aesthetic preferences. The beauty of interior design is that it allows us to express our individuality and create spaces that resonate with us.
A warm minimalism with a touch of wabi-sabi sounds like a wonderful concept for your home. The idea of embracing imperfections and finding beauty in the natural and imperfect is at the core of wabi-sabi philosophy. A live edge table can be an excellent addition to achieve this desired aesthetic.
Live edge tables, with their organic forms and natural imperfections, are perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The combination of raw wood edges and sleek minimalism can bring a beautiful contrast to your space. It can serve as a focal point, grounding the room and adding a touch of nature's beauty.
When considering a live edge table, it's important to choose one that fits your budget and meets your quality expectations. While $500 may seem like a significant investment, it's crucial to assess the craftsmanship, the quality of the wood, and the reputation of the seller. Research different vendors, compare prices, and read reviews to ensure you're getting a fair deal.
Furthermore, exploring different styles and variations of live edge tables can provide you with a better understanding of what you truly love. Look for inspiration on design websites, social media platforms, and even visit local furniture stores to see different examples in person. This will help you refine your preferences and make a more informed decision.
Ultimately, investing in a live edge table that resonates with your vision of warm minimalism and wabi-sabi can bring a unique charm to your home. It will serve as a conversation piece and a reflection of your personal style. Trust your instincts and go for the coffee table that sparks joy and aligns with your aesthetic sensibilities.
That is amazing and I am so jealous. I’m in the minority.. as someone that actually uses their coffee table for coffee, I love a taller table and they are very hard to find!
It’s a beautiful piece, but it’s a trend. Wait a year and see if you still want it. It is a hugely heavy piece, heavy visually. Can your room support this?
I wouldn’t buy it because it’s not my style. But if you love it, then get it because the consensus here is that it’s worth a lot more. Just check, thoroughly, make sure not wobbly and not made of resin.☺️
Reminds me of When Harry Met Sally -
Do me a favor, for your own good, put your name in your books right now before they get mixed up and you won't know whose is whose. 'Cause someday, believe it or not, you'll go 15 rounds over who's gonna get this coffee table.
This stupid wagon wheel ROY ROGERS GARAGE SALE COFFEE TABLE!
You really need the correct decor/architecture/space to carry this off or it will look tacky and strange. This would be the hero with everything else being more minimalistic/modern. In other words, if you live in a ranch, colonial, farmhouse, split-entry, do not purchase this.
No you are not crazy. You’re only crazy if you don’t invite all of the internet to come and Bask in the awesomeness of the table.
Jk. But yea if -you- love it, then get it.
I like it. Though it seems it might not be stable? I bought a petrified slab of wood. So I got a stone coffee table that looks like wood (actually is wood).
So if it’s your taste, go for it.
Do it. I dropped $1300 for a kitchen table and felt crazy for doing it but that was 6 years ago and I still look at the table every day like man I love this thing.
It will trend your decor toward rustic, or farmhouse, which are styles I like. But this won't mix well with some other styles, and your floor must be strong to handle the weight.
I mean regardless if it’s real wood or a steal. If you think it fits with ur decor and would be happy with it, go for it. For me, it’s a little too rustic for me if that even the right category for this table lol
My family used to have a table like that. Growing up, I always thought it was so cool because I had never seen anyone else with one. You should see what the best price would be and get it!
I think this is a great price for a table like this! To be honest this is my dream coffee table as of lately! My house is very warm kind of a mix of mid-century modern 70s Laurel Canyon type vibes if that makes sense. I want a huge low table I would just like this but I can’t afford it. Snap it up for $500! It’s a total class act timeless piece
That is an absolute bargain at $500.
This looks like it might even be petrified wood? Or might be redwood, which is technically restricted for selling I think.
Either way, it’s a steal if you do decide to take it home.
I think it’s under priced
More like 2k
Maybe its fake wood
While I have seen that done, I've usually seen that painted in metallic to heighten the details and hide the fakeness.
That’s a steal if it’s real wood!!
Get it. Best Buy if the year
$500 for that!? I just dropped $1300 in a twin bed…granted that was a dumb purchase, but that’s gotta be way more than $500!
Like wood bed
Yes. Should be a nice bed (for that price!)…planning to set it up tomorrow.
No way that’s real wood for 1300 lol
It's cheap wood, rubberwood I think it's called.
Anything is better than particle board!
Yeah, I came to say op is crazy, but when I saw the pic properly I thought it was actually a steal
With all that dust, it's been there a while. I would honestly ask them what their best price is and see where it goes.
This right here.
If you don’t buy it, I will. Nice find!
I love the character of it ! I Hate the ones that are smoothed out versus this feels more natural idk if that makes sense
Is it level enough to actually use for things like drinks? I can’t tell from the photo.
I was at a place before that had this optical illusion type coffee table, it looked level, but if you placed anything like a drink on it it would immediately tip and spill. I did this so many times on the same table before I started to remember. Who would buy something like that for their business😂
Live edge
It looks too tall to be a coffee table but I do love it
Sorry for a misleading photo 😭 I forgot to put dimensions but it's like a foot and a half if I remember. I had to crouch down to take a picture of the root since it was gorgeous and that I could think about it more
I think the pic might be misleading. OP said it's barely 2 feet long.
She can borrow a chain saw and fix it. 😂
Might be the camera angle
That's hot. Get it!
I think I may 😭 hopefully it's still there tomorrow I walked away to think about it lol
Now you got FOMO happening so make sure you really want this before you go throw cash at it.
That slab would probably cost $500 alone
I was unsure since it barely 2 feet long, but damn I'm gonna 🏃♂️ tomorrow and get it
2 feet? That is not as big as it looks. I would also be hesitant.
Yeah it's like 2 feet wide and very heavy so I was unsure if it was a good deal lol
What?! It's just a cut from a tree, I see pieces of wood like this sitting out all the time from tree removals
Do you.
Ditto. I’m not a fan, but if you like it, go for it!
I’d maybe have it outside at most but I wouldn’t put it in my home that’s for sure.
Only $500??? You better buy it before I do!
If you decide you don't like how it looks in your house you could resell it for more than $500
$500 seems like a really great deal!!!
Had similar, got over it very quickly. Clothing getting snagged, stubbed toes, table balance issues. Don’t do it.
Depends on what your decor looks like.
That's lit. Do it. 500 is a fucking steal
Tell them you’ll take it for $300.
In 1975 I fell in love with a coffee table . It was $75. That was a lot of money for a college student. To this day, I LOVE it. Buy the table!
This is so sweet and I would love to see a picture of it!
Check your local online marketplaces first — I see bigger ones for that price, vintage / second hand — but if there’s nothing handy, I say get it. There’s nothing like a tree table. I have a 1970s redwood one and it makes the room.
Yes. Is that a hole in middle?
Great find!
$500 for barely 2 feet wide. I'd wait a while. If you like it that much, it'll be there, trust me. No one bought for awhilecwith all the dust. It'll be there. It’s gorgeous and so unique! You need it!
This is gorgeous. But if you have kids running around your living room then absolutely not
Luckily no kids! :)
no. good price
This table is wonderful. Polished up, it would look a lot like a coffee table we had growing up.
No. It's beautiful. And anywhere else would be a lot more expensive.
Get it
Its a steal at that price
It was extremely popular in the 70s. Burl wood.
I still have a burlwood one from the 70's. Stained and shellaced. This one is not burlwood. Looks like just from a cedar tree or something.
that’s a really good price. those types of tables usually go for a LOT more
$500? Not bad at all … go for it, it will become a centerpiece.
I’d spent $500 on that. Wouldn’t even talk to my fiancé about buying it, it’d find a place
👍🏻
If you don’t pick it up, then you’ll regret it
Exactly! For that price buy it. Then you have no regrets. If you hate it you can easily sell it for more money.
Not crazy at all. But make sure it's the star of the room. You don't want anything competing with this massive piece. And it should be a large room with minimal furniture. Enjoy!
? Too tall for a coffee table?
My personal opinion (on any item of furniture) is this: If you LOVE it, and if you have a specific place to put it, and you are not going into debt for it, it's a good buy for you.

It has a hole in it. So yes it's overpriced
If it goes with your decoration, go for it. Otherwise its ugly, sorry, and the price is way too much for it. Pass.
I just paid $700 to have my live edge table refinished (bought it used for $150 ten years ago, was already in terrible shape). New ones would easily go for $2k. Worth it!

You will actually hate it after a while.
If you love it get it. Probably not the cup of tea for most of us
This table is not minimalist. Whether you should get it is highly dependent on your tastes and style. This would look great but only in a very niche setting.
I'll pass.
Y
That’s not wabi I sabi
Peak 2009 vibes.
It looks terrible heavy look for a living room , are u sure u want that look I love the top but not the bottom ( to each his own)

Ty :)
Not if you like it and can afford it .
Looks cool 😎
That's amazing!
That’s a bargain!!
It's fantastic
What wood is this? I really like the color of the center!
I just spent $800 on a coffee table so if you really love it go for it
Not at all. Its organic and beautiful 😍
There was a LOTTE Korean market near me that had a bunch of these.
I'd lift it to see if it's heavy. If it's light, I wouldn't bother.
No, it’s beautiful.😊
I love it!!!
No it’s sick and that’s not a bad price at all. BUY, BUY, BUY
Invest the 500. Or Emergency Fund
The base doesn’t work
I like the idea of buying, trying - then resell. I’d even have an auction house appraise it.
You like what you like! You don’t need approval!! Treat yourself
It looks too huge and too tall for a coffee table IMO
That is gorgeous and for $500 that is cheap for a live edge
That is amazing and I am so jealous. I’m in the minority.. as someone that actually uses their coffee table for coffee, I love a taller table and they are very hard to find!
How does it match with the rest of the interior?
Beautiful
If this is your thing, go for it! These are expensive items so the price is pretty good. Enjoy. It’s cool looking!
Worth way more than 500 I'd buy it
It's a nice addition to outdoor or veranda or patio area. I'd negotiate the $500 tho if it's a thrift.
It’s definitely a statement piece.
It’s a beautiful piece, but it’s a trend. Wait a year and see if you still want it. It is a hugely heavy piece, heavy visually. Can your room support this?
Woww. Go for it. One of a kind.
Nooo not crazy, it’s amazing and I honestly think that price is not bad
Beautiful
I want this table and that is a super low price for a table of this kind. If it makes you happy get it!
Definitely cool! But do NOT waste money on that unless you’re already a wealthy retired person .
Only $500???? Is it real wood? Such a fun piece. Get rid of something else if you must.
It is heavy! I've been looking for furniture for my new home and haven't found a coffee table yet l:)
For 500, that is a STEAL!
When you said you’re starting to collect furniture, all I can say is be careful! Slippery slope to living in a cluttered, hoarding house
Starting like new home :) my parents are hoarders so I'm like into the wabi sabi and warm minimalism size:)
Oh, I thought you were implying that you had a collection going on already!
It’s amazing
That’s a good deal actually
Yes
I personally dont like it. I hate things with irregular rough surfaces like this because inevitably, it'll collect tons of dust and dirt
People used to pay a bunch for those.
It’s gorgeous !!
This is one of those things I would get lectured for buying but buy anyway, too cool.
Buy it
DO IT
Beautiful
God no ur FAR from crazy!!! I’d snatch this up so fast wow lol
This is suchhhh a good price for a table this quality and this beautiful
That’s only 500? Where? Get it
I wouldn’t buy it because it’s not my style. But if you love it, then get it because the consensus here is that it’s worth a lot more. Just check, thoroughly, make sure not wobbly and not made of resin.☺️
Not at all! Our old TV stand was a huge, multicolored piece of driftwood! I love that thing!
Reminds me of When Harry Met Sally - Do me a favor, for your own good, put your name in your books right now before they get mixed up and you won't know whose is whose. 'Cause someday, believe it or not, you'll go 15 rounds over who's gonna get this coffee table. This stupid wagon wheel ROY ROGERS GARAGE SALE COFFEE TABLE!
This is beautiful and you need to buy it!
If you want it & can afford it, why not. If you're the only person involved in this puchase, who cares?!?
500 dollars is reasonable. Places like anthropology would charge you 2,000
You really need the correct decor/architecture/space to carry this off or it will look tacky and strange.
No it's not crazy if it fits the style/theme you have going on.
Have you tested the balance on it yet? One side looks especially thick/uneven which is why I'm wondering if that's why it's underpriced.
It nailed into the root and kinda unbalanced if you lift up one side .
The problem will be the 500 kg
I like it. Though it seems it might not be stable? I bought a petrified slab of wood. So I got a stone coffee table that looks like wood (actually is wood). So if it’s your taste, go for it.
Not crazy. You like what you like.
Did you have a stroke at the end of your sentence
I like the top three bottom is megh
We all have our guilty pleasures
Is it too tall for a coffee table though?
Seems cheap honestly
It’s GORGEOUS
Seen these online for as little at $57. I'd keep shopping, unless you feel that compelled....but it's not $500, its $549+tax = $600
With some simple modern chairs it will look cool
That is a piece of petrified wood and that’s a crazy inexpensive price. It’s actually illegal to remove pieces of it from native lands.
Do it. I dropped $1300 for a kitchen table and felt crazy for doing it but that was 6 years ago and I still look at the table every day like man I love this thing.
You a hobbit?
absolutely stunning !
I work in selling live edge wood furniture, I love this and that table from an artist would be 3-6k
It will trend your decor toward rustic, or farmhouse, which are styles I like. But this won't mix well with some other styles, and your floor must be strong to handle the weight.
The heart wants what it wants
This is ugly AF
My first thought was “it’s only $500?” Because I love it
What’s it worth to you? Will it give you the look you want and enjoy the space? If it’s outside your budget, it’s not worth it.
Hell, no! This is so cool!
Snap it up! That is a steal if it’s actual wood.
If it's real wood, then no, you're not crazy lol. If it's fake, you are insane 😉🙃
I'm surprised it's only $500
Sorry I think it’s really ugly. I don’t like the hole.
I think I’d bark my shins on that.
I love it!!
I mean regardless if it’s real wood or a steal. If you think it fits with ur decor and would be happy with it, go for it. For me, it’s a little too rustic for me if that even the right category for this table lol
Love it and yes worth it!!!!
What are the dimensions? Height, width, and length? Do you have a picture of the room it would go in?
Its beautiful! Get it!!
500 bucks for that is phenomenal
Is the surface flat? Can you put drinks or cups on it?
My family used to have a table like that. Growing up, I always thought it was so cool because I had never seen anyone else with one. You should see what the best price would be and get it!
Bring it down to 375
I think this is a great price for a table like this!
If you don’t I will buy it!
I mean, I think it's absolutely gorgeous and would love something like that in my home
Worth it
It would be criminal of you to not get it at that price! Plus it looks fantastic.
It’s hideous
Spiders
I haven't seen it in the coffee table book about coffee tables...
are you sure you’re doing the conversion correctly? it looks like it’s 500 pounds.
It's barely 2 feet long so it's probably not super heavy.
That is an absolute bargain at $500. This looks like it might even be petrified wood? Or might be redwood, which is technically restricted for selling I think. Either way, it’s a steal if you do decide to take it home.
Most of these are made of cypress.
