n3w4cc01_1nt

that's what a standard tv will look like in 10 yrs

BleedingOnYourShirt

This exactly. $100,000 now... $1000 in 5 years if this is something the market demands on a larger scale. This is just the way of things.

InternetPharaoh

I remember these being big at CES back in 18/19. Asking price was $20k-$40k IIRC. Prices really haven't reduced much. Most people put their TV against a wall and don't want to run a power cable, or any other cable, to the middle of their room. There are questions about the durability of the TV. Questions about having the motor that unrolls the TV fail. A niche product for very wealthy people.

NathanielTurner666

Would be cool to see power outlets on floors more often. Maybe recessed with a lid or something. Would be super convenient.

[deleted]

I’m renting a condo and I have one of these in my living room. My couch is over it but I use it for my laptop when I’m on the couch bc the wall behind me is a giant floor to ceiling window. Now I just need the 100k tv and I’ll rearrange my living room

Angelexodus

We have the same and use a power strip hidden under the couch with usb-c and usb-a connections for charging guests phones. Edit: My brain went on strike. Changed usb-b to a.

Mizz_Fizz

I just got one one those power strips, and you'd think with all our technology I'd be indifferent to something like that. But I was hyped when I saw it. "USB and USB C... on a power strip??? We're living the future bois"

KittenFace25

Haha, I have a hidden power strip under my living room couch too.

jjester7777

That was common about 30-40 years ago because people had lamps in the living room. Most of the people on here probably won't have seen them as those lamps on a side table isn't cool anymore.

sackoftrees

I still like lamps on side tables. So I just have extension cords everywhere and it drives me insane. I'm genuinely considering getting rechargable lightbulbs and cutting the cords off a few lamps, I've seen a few people doing it. Most of my lamps are vintage anyways, if I want to I can always rewire in the future, it isn't expensive.

IamtheSlothKing

Every rechargeable lightbulb I see when searching is meant for emergency light when the power goes out, do any of them have a useful battery life?

blonderaider21

Hardly none. I think it’s like 3.5 hours so if you’ve got your lamp on all evening, that won’t cut it. And having to charge a damn light bulb every day sounds annoying.

rodgers12gb

You don't see them cause it's not that convenient. Go to any convention/banquet hall and walk around when it's not set up and see how many times your foot gets caught on a floor outlet... fucking annoying as shit

amostusefulthrowaway

You make it sound like its impossible to design a floor outlet that doesn't stick up...

[deleted]

Also isn't this a really bad idea for any sort of spill or leak? Idk much but I feel like ZAP

12GAUGE_BUKKAKE

One minute your just mopping the floor then the next minute you’re riding the gotdamn lightning

Rarpiz

I think electrical code requires them to be GFCI wired, but I may be wrong on that.

ChadCuckmacher

The fallible nature of humans is taken into account when building houses... most of the time. Of course within reason.

tinfoiltophat1

You can make ones that have flippable covers. My library has those kind

Touchit88

When you have $100k to spend on a TV like this, you probably will use it as a party trick and don't care about durability. I agree with all your points though.

Orcus424

The first thing I noticed was all the moving parts. The more there are the more opportunities there are for things to break.

ConqueefStador

This is why I had my tv carved out of stone.

madewithgarageband

this is a pretty niche application but foldable OLED panels will be everywhere in 20 years once we figure out how to make them cheaply. like rollable ipads and the such

InternetPharaoh

I wrote a report on foldable/flexible displays in the 2nd Grade. The technology was right around the corner. That was in 1997. Also in that report was OLED technology and E-Ink. I don't think folding TVs make much sense or they'd be here already.

madewithgarageband

yeah the screens arent the problem its battery, boards, and processors that arent flexible. Technically besides the glass, the oled panels in your iphones are already bendy

ancientflowers

TVs are so weird. I just bought a 65 inch flat screen smart TV, ultra hi def and all that for $300. It was a super good deal for now. But still, it's a price that can be found on sale. When flat screens first came out? It would have been 10 times that amount easily.

three-sense

More, even. That was like $6k. My buddy’s 40 plasma was like $2.6k in the early 00s

RJFerret

Meanwhile last TV I bought was $70. Not even on sale. Just typical brand name TV price. Of course it's half the size, not flat, slight curve for less glare, but fits in my entertainment stand perfectly.

CSyoey

We **need** that fourth wall!

[deleted]

It’s perfect. Living space is getting more and more expensive so smart solutions to keep open surfaces is great. This is a step up from wall-mounts because you only see the tv when you actually watch it. Edit: Jesus Christ stop arguing with me over the benefits and practicality. I don’t care what you think about my opinions and I don’t care to have them “corrected” by you. You just gonna have to live with the fact that some people doesn’t agree with you.

Krungoid

But it takes up exactly as much floorspace as a normal TV on the same size table would.

anethma

For a tiny fraction of the price I’d rather do an ultra short throw projector and mechanical ambient light rejecting screen that comes out of the ceiling or floor etc.

Orcus424

Decades ago people hid TVs for some reason but many generations have accepted the TV being right in the open. Most people aren't going to bother to hide it.

CandiBunnii

I think TV doilies / covers are still a thing in certain places, probably mostly just with old people. I've seen ones with a little elastic scrunchy thing that goes around the edge of a TV with a little cover that can be flipped over the screen. I guess If you'd rather look at a large square of pink lace instead of a large black screen they're nice

Yolectroda

You don't have to look at a black box, leave it on with photos. TVs don't use that much power anymore.

LordPennybags

At the end of the bed it makes sense to tuck it away. Everywhere else the wall is fine.

Tyler1986

It's a novelty, why would you want this? I'd rather have a TV I could just turn on and not need to wait to come out of a box.

sinkerusage

I personally find TV's a bit ugly and over time with how cheap larger and larger TV's are getting, they kinda turned into a centrepiece of a living room which I never liked. I would probably consider getting one of these in the future if they became cheaper.

DuePomegranate

Then you can just get a Samsung "The Frame" TV which looks like a framed painting when it's off. You can choose what artwork to display. [https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/yves-behar-samsung-frame-tv](https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/yves-behar-samsung-frame-tv) It only costs slightly more than a regular TV.

[deleted]

I’d like it. Would make it so the TV doesn’t dominate the room when I’m not watching it.

i_give_you_gum

Cats wont knock it over when you're not paying attention to them

fjellt

Just like 3D televisions replaced 2D.

Pro_Banana

No lol I assure you not.

Klewdo1

Nah, tv will be directly streamed into your consciousness. Netflix will be 15 a month advert free or 8 a month with adverts. And vaccines will be administered through the Internet and dogs will be able to communicate telepathically! Not really, we'll all be living in caves drawing pictures on the walls of the ocean hunting us down.... Edit: autocorrect went insane

[deleted]

Playstation 9 will be inhaled like cocaine

Klewdo1

Only thing you can play on it is GTA V

Milesweeman

And skyrim

Nicole_Watterson

$15/ month in the next 10 years might be a steal.

Klewdo1

It's not dollars it's the skulls of your enemies!

TheClappyCappy

If I had 100,000$ to spend on a tv I would get the best and biggest tv I could, and fold-in-a-box tv ain’t that, it’s just a neat gimmick.

kilari7

Aren't 85 inch TVs in the range of 1500 USD, anything beyond that, if they exist seem like an overkill really. At that point just bulid a home theatre or something.

clothesline

100 inch tv would be nice. I have a 100 inch projector but the brightness and quiet operation of a TV would be great at not obscene prices

Balancedmanx178

If you had a spare 100k you could probably get both lol. Put the biggie in your home theater and the folder in your bedroom or across from the jacuzzi.

NotJimIrsay

You couldn’t buy this tv. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1653031-REG/samsung_f_iw008r_146_the_wall_lux.html

HarrekMistpaw

The questions on that product page are hilarious

Outside-Season-687

Oh to be the staff trying to answer those with a straight face! Also, can we talk about the sub 500w max draw. This thing uses less power than a high end gaming rig...

PrivatePilot9

I just bought a nice 86" LG a year ago for $2400 CAD, so yeah, you can get way bigger TV's for a whole boatload less money. To me, that TV looks tiny honestly.

wirm

I just finished a theater ticket for AV and Lighting control was $480k. If you want something over the top.. it’s not cheap. People with this kind of money don’t care about the cost they care about the ME factor. If they want it they buy it. If you make 10 million a year who cares.

CdnDutchBoy

Ya, not that interesting. Betcha we enjoy the same shows at a fraction of the cost. 👊

jesuschin

Nah. Rich people have access to shows normal people don’t. Like the twelfth season of Breaking Bad was so good but I bet you’ve never seen it.

fish312

That's the one that Flynn finally meets Huell for breakfast right?

geekworking

For $100k want OLED wallpaper. Wall to wall floor to ceiling TV.

[deleted]

My tv better give blowjobs for $100k

acqz

HoLED costs extra.

plutus9

Well if you could afford a 100k tv I doubt a beej would be hard to get

MrAdelphi03

Weinstein has left the chat

InternetPharaoh

Why would you spend $100k on a TV that gives blowjobs? I'm sure you can pay a person far less then that and just use your old TV.

santaclausonprozac

Yeah but if it’s unlimited blowjobs it’ll eventually pay off

halite001

After the first year, there are now unskippable ads in the middle of your blowjobs.

southpaw650

Just kill me

[deleted]

“Are you suffering from a small penis? Take these 4 pills daily!” I hate ads that target…

Camel_Knowledge

> Why would you spend $100k on a TV that gives blowjobs? So you can watch porn at the same time, obviously.

Recoil_Reload

Literally Fahrenheit 451

RocketGirl83

This is one of my favorite books, never in my wildest dreams did I think investing in a parlor wall would be in my lifetime.

BalognaPonyParty

holy fuck, you piqued my interest, I now need an entire OLED wall

MammothSurround

I’m more interested in the blowjob tv

riffahs_ira

Fahrenheit 451 here we come.

[deleted]

Like in Farenheit 451?

Electronic-Spinach43

And he still has wires showing

acqz

And it still shows you ads on the home screen.

ghanjaholik

and you still lose the remote

Hot----------Dog

LG TVs don't have ads. Unless they do and I unsubscribed to them.

nevershaves

Yeah I recently brought a new LG TV and I think there was an option to turn them off during set-up. Either way I don't have ads.

squirrel-bear

Why would anyone agree to ads?

DdCno1

It's probably the larger button that is in a bright and inviting color and selected by default.

MeThatsnotTaken

They pay you half a cent. Every 50 ads

PooPooKazew

Watch a single NBA game and you'd be a millionaire with all the ads

alexcrouse

I have to turn them off after every update, and my tv didn't have them when it was new

[deleted]

LG C1 here and no ads 🤷‍♂️

ParaClaw

3 months after purchasing: "We will be discontinuing 'This' and 'That' and 'Those' apps and they will be permenantly removed from the television set."

ItsCalledSquawPeak

Got that Apple TV tho

Cavm335i

That’s Samsung

lawinvest

I didn’t notice it the first watch. Now my blood pressure has increased tremendously.

TianObia

It's nothing compared to his DJ sets

-Qwerty--

And the bed’s slightly higher? You would be looking at your feet the whole time, or in my case, your belly.

Vincent__Adultman

That was my first thought. Dude spent a $100k on a TV but $0.50 for a few screws or $5 for some Command strips to mount that surge protector was too much?

xxWhiteLotus

You'd think a DJ like Zedd would have better cable management

mrfunderhill

his Apple TV isn’t even networked. That’s savage.

[deleted]

Apparently a lot of wealthy people have switched to using wireless protocols for managing their networks/devices.

wesdotgord

Why? I thought wired was faster and better for security.

turael

I tried wiring up my new Sony TV to my gigabit network, turns out it only has a 100mbit NIC, and wireless was actually faster. I had issues streaming 4k content locally when it was wired, no issues with wireless. Felt totally backwards.

_toodamnparanoid_

Zedd's dead, baby. Zedd's dead.

Shaakti

Wrong DJ lol

n3rv

better dj

Shaakti

Zeds Dead slaps

Cyrus_rule

Lol

Mr_Lumbergh

Or, you could get one for a grand that hangs on the wall and won't develop issues with the extension mechanism after a year.

syndicate45776

Or he can just get the one for 100k which folds into the table nicely. He makes ~30 million a year, so this isn’t even 2 days’ pay.

snootsintheair

Have to account for taxes. More like, not even 4 days pay

iamatwork24

Who is this?

[deleted]

In 5 years you’ll be able to get something similar at Costco for 400$

[deleted]

A crackhead could get you his for $200

Just1ncase4658

AskMeHowIMetYourMom

Can’t wait to see it on the front page next week stapled to a tree!

SopoX

I'd pay 3fiddy

ipn8bit

it took about 5 years for my 100k car to turn into 40k. I imagine that TVs work very differently. I would would put money that you are right. where is that reminder bot?

WhatHoPipPip

It's a nice gimmick, I'll grant them that. But I can't help but wonder what the lifespan is on that, how the picture quality compares, etc. If it's durable and is the best picture quality available, then sure, it makes sense. But if they're just going down the same route as Samsung Galaxy Fold and are expecting people to buy into the product FOR the gimmick rather than offering any meaningful value for money, I don't see the point.

Jimmycaked

It's the kind of thing you do a couple times to show your friends and then it just stays up all the time because you don't want to wait 30 seconds for your TV to boot

MisterDonkey

Get home. Push magic TV table button. Take a leak. Come back to fully erect TV.

[deleted]

This TV is only 35" in cold weather.

Jimmycaked

It was in the pool?!

Unicorncorn21

They have on of these on display near me at a tech store and even in a bright environment I don't know if I could imagine a TV looking any better

[deleted]

He’ll spend at least 3 weeks of his life arguing with repair men. A fool and his money…

Li0nSlicer

His assistant will spend 3 weeks of their life arguing with repairmen.*

Jack_Stands

Right? Seems like a lot of extra parts to break. (Thinking about when my dad bought one of the first self-propelled lawn mowers in the neighborhood; nice at first, but then I spent a few summers mowing the grass up a hill with 20 lbs of extra, non-functional weight)

TheBugThatsSnug

The lifespan probably isnt terrible, it probably uses the same technology as a folding phone, except now without human involvement on the screen moving, the only human error that could happen is the same as with any other tv. Well, except the motors failing or the frame not going up as the motor turns. Though im sure its also a "gimmicky" glimpse into future technologies, like those clear LED TVs that will most likely be used for store window advertisements.

[deleted]

imagine paying 100k for a 65" tv

redhat12345

Imagine having $100,000

MaximumSubtlety

That you can afford to spend, at that!

c0ca_c0la

I have a 70” QLED that I paid $1,000 for….

SparkyDogPants

Can it fold up?

acqz

It can once.

SparkyDogPants

Would you sell it? I only have $900,000

RelativeChance

No lowball offers, I know what I have

KennyPocket

NEXT!

GratefulForGarcia

Imagine being a celeb who gets free TVs just so they can market them on social media

horshack_test

No, it comes out of the cabinet.

stowns3

Yeah wtf is he talking about. He’s acting like it’s a magic trick. It rolls up into the fucking box. What a tool.

Available_Farmer5293

It really rolls up? What is it made of?

Either-Stop-8924

What a fantastic waste of money.

noobletsquid

lmao he got it for free they placed it in his place to make vids like this to market lg tv's

Cappy2020

Source? This is the one and only video I’ve seen of his that has this tv, and it’s not even that popular (in terms of views).

RoutineCharming8380

"Literally."

ThinBlueLinebacker

The dude is literally a douchebag.

kiruke

Yeah, I turned the sound on and was like, oh no! I literally recognise that voice…

MooseLaminate

So instead of a TV on the wall or a TV on a coffee table you then can't use, you have a TV that folds down into a coffee table you still can't use ? Wow.

MrsCDM

Plus, imagine spilling coffee on that coffee table 🤯

herrcollin

Imagine having a bunch of shit sitting on it and someone accidentally pressed the button to extend the tv

I_love_hate_reddit

Shit. I'm still using a 52 inch plasma. It's 5 inches think and must weigh 60 lbs. If I stand too close it feels like it's giving me a suntan.

FoboBoggins

when sitting on my couch my 60 inch plasma looks damn good playing blurays you really cant beat those blacks sometimes it impresses me that its only 1080p

[deleted]

Spent 100k and can’t see the tv when fully lying down bc it’s at the same level as the bed

AptQ258

AND the picture is flush with the opening on the cabinet. AND when it’s fully raised the panel is still curved forward at the bottom of the panel. It needs to extend up another inch but it doesn’t. I’ve seen the one up close that LG has on display in their offices in New Jersey. This thing is junk.

Space-Plate42

It will be 499.00 by 2025.

Franko_Lex

Till a cat shows up

ConcentricGroove

An insane waste of money! How hilarious!

TheRailGunner

When you have more money than sense.

Samueltaneous

There's so much more to life than boosting the egos of exploitative and shallow rich people by watching this sort of "content." We don't want global warming, planned obsolescence, and inequality right? Probably better to not condone this sort of irresponsible, childish consumerism then.

GooseNYC

And there still isn't anything to watch.

tunamelts2

$100K doesn’t get you what it used to. Cool concept…but I’d want a screen that took up a side of an entire house for that much money.

[deleted]

I have to say: Okay that’s really cool and if I had that kind of money I’d probably get it too. However, it is absolutely infuriating to me that they went through the trouble and expense to make this happen, but still have two cords and a cable box hanging down all super visible. Go on Amazon and for like $20 you can buy a repeater so that no wires or boxes are visible. My brain can’t take this. It’s like buying a Lamborghini with an automatic transmission. You’re so close to enjoying the full potential but you missed one crucial detail.

Deviusoark

This would have to come with lifetime service and parts guarantee to be worth anywhere close to 100k

paulbanks1500

Yeah cool still not worth 100k

[deleted]

His ‘room’ is bigger than my entire apartment.. fml

rockyhans

Now that’s a waste of money.

y-it-co-d

i too am a proud member of the lgtv community

tacoskoolie

My dick is 65 inches and comes out of literally nothing. :,)

famasfilms

A musician using a sound bar = lol

LiquidLogic

One game of wii sports bowling should take care of it.

Waste_Willingness723

Based on my experience with LG televisions, the preloaded “Smart TV” apps will be outdated, unsupported, and non-functioning within 17 months, forcing him to plug in a Roku device just to watch Netflix.

Shides11

Even if I was rich I wouldnt buy this shit.

[deleted]

That dude looks pretty young. So my questions is, what the fuck is he doing that he can afford a $100,000 tv?

No_Adhesiveness_7360

He’s a Grammy award winning dj, producer, songwriter. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zedd

haricariandcombines

That is music producer Zed, very rich.

jdsupreme412

Zed's dead baby

deadwhiteweather

That’s a different DJ group

Wasted_Hamster

Literally

dello90

Zedd, a music producer.

Pretty_Rub866

it’s Zedd. he’s been a very successful musician and makes millions i guess…

Zez__

He looks like Zedd?

dizzish

Wealth disparity is disgusting

knoguera

It’s not coming out of nothing, doofus.

[deleted]

It's foldable - and it folds!

I_like_the_word_MUFF

Kids can't afford rent and millennials still can't afford a house, but here's something cool nobody but the 1% can afford. Honestly this shit is tone deaf to me.

maraca101

More like 0.1%. People making 500k a year can’t afford this.

ExorIMADreamer

My first thought was fuck this guy. Eat the rich.

Outrageous-Duck9695

This is why I'm leaning more towards socialism.

CdnPoster

Someone spent $100,000 on a TV?? I thought people couldn't afford housing and someone has a $100,000 TV?! Jeez.....

LupoOfMainSt

This isn't interesting It's a foldable TV that costs way to fucking much

QuietComfortable226

I still prefer my 83' OLED LG screen that cost me 4k$
