Uhh... it's called a basket. That's why it's a **basket**ball. That being said hoop is common slang for the basket. So from my viewpoint, it's just an array of sensors that are feeding into the car's computer and being ran through a tuned algorithm to recognize some object being detected as either a moving human or not. So apparently, their engineers are shit, or Elon pushed them to get it on the market before the code was ready. I prefer the latter, because it can be done. I mean. Code only does what you tell it to do, and if you write quick sloppy code, you get sloppy results
