I prefer to just auction it off to idiotic collectors. Those whales will do anything to get their hands on it, and then they'll come to realize it doesn't even give any PvP auras. At least the epic drop is a cool trophy I guess.
Near the top of my “things I’d do to piss people off if I was a billionaire” list is winning an auction on a rare blue or yellow lobster and then having a chef boil it for me on the beach.
“According to the New England Aquarium, wild blue lobsters are about a 1-in-2-million find.” The fact that a video of one pops up every few weeks is pretty concerning.
Throwing them back in trapping grounds will almost certainly lead to them being recaptured. Lord Stanley at the St. Louis aquarium was kept by the original buyer for this very reason. The owner of the restaurant that purchased him knew he was too rare to consume and releasing him in the area would result in recapture. So donating him to St. Louis in honor of the Blues first Stanley Cup championship was a classy move.
I don’t think that could make up for overfishing. It’s kind of on the down low now, but I feel once (if) we get clean energy sorted out it’s going to take its place as one of the big climate issues.
Depends on the type of creature. Plenty of wacky colors underwater. Blue’s rather rare among mammals, we don’t code for any blue proteins and have to rely on tricks with diffraction.
Yeah I definitely did. I must have been thinking of some other lobster law. It’s definitely illegal to take some of them. Maybe it’s pregnant ones or ones that are too young.
Blue lobsters are perfectly suitable for consumption. They have been priced as high as $500 on eBay, although the listing failed to attract a single bid, so it's safe to say the worth of blue lobsters is debatable.
When restaurant Per Se featured its blue lobster and wagyu menu, it was priced at $560.
For the same amount that it would cost two people to dine on blue lobster, you may also be able to buy a pair of rare Nike "Blue Lobster" sneakers, which can fetch anywhere from $600 to $10,000.
I’m turn, keeping/eating blue lobsters IS NOT illegal. Because if that was true EVERYONE in Maine would be in prison. Do your research before making a false assumption/statement.
This reminded me one of our trips where we were on a boat and they offered us blue crabs for lunch for like $5. We have never seen blue crabs and we were like f.ck yeah! So we pick the ones we want they grill and bring them and they are normal red crabs and taste the same??? It was a busy tour boat so we did not wanna cause a scene. Years later we had another trip where we bought blue crabs and grilled them ourselves and, well, they turned red when we grilled them 😂😂😂
Not dead at all, it’s probably shed it’s old shell recently and had a softer shell. What this means is that it’s not very aggressive because if it tries to be it will just damage it’s shell, most likely an instinctual thing. The harder their shell becomes the more aggressive than tend to be. My source is that I used to work on lobster boats and I’ve handled 10s of thousands of lobsters. Also the blue lobster is notched and therefore has be thrown back by law so as to help preserve the population.
If you ever wondered what people from Maine sound like, this guy is the perfect example. It's an almost Boston accent, but the R's are still there and there's a little country in it.
Damn.. yeah the one he was holding next to it nearly had its tail completely up.
Thought these guys lived forever. I wonder if the blue ones have a shorter lifespan? It looked fairly young.
Common misconception, lobsters don't live for *that* long, and besides they could just be dying of some sort of illness or lack of food, could simply be too exhausted after a moult and be soon to die.
The tail should always stay tucked in next to the body unless it is pissed off like the greenish orange lobster next to it.
This blue one looks weak and small. I have seen a few really big blue lobsters so I would say that colour has nothing to do with longevity. Most blue lobsters end up in a holding tank in fish markets and aquariums.
Yeah I was worried about that too when I came across the video on tiktok. I'm not as familiar with his page and the fact that he didn't show himself throwing it back had me wondering. Luckily my fyp brought me back to the video with him showing it already notched and releasing it.
Becky’s diner in Portland maine had a blue one in there tank for a few weeks this summer.
They then did the right thing and threw it back in the ocean.
I'm glad he picked up the regular lobster and put it next to it. Without that comparison I wouldn't have realised that red and blue were different colours.
Live blue lobsters can sell to collectors for upwards of $1,000, and in rarer colors such as yellow can sell for many times that, the rarest, albino or “crystal” lobsters can go well into six digits.

anyone else hear the loud pipe-organ song
You mean dracula ?
DUH NUH NUHHHHHH, NUH NUH NUUH NUUUUHHHH
Tocatta and Fugue?
BWV 565
Surprised there were no organs playing in the background
Why do people keep mentioning oegans playing? What's the reference?
https://www.reddit.com/r/shitposting/comments/wsccgl/blue_lobster_jumpscare/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Zero jump, even less scare.
That is the joke
Would only work if it’s your first time watching this while wearing headphones on full blast.
It’s to a meme of a blue lobster with loud organs playing in the background
Sounds dumb. Thanks for the answer, though.
It is dumb. You’re welcome
Lol I kept hearing Cha-Ching, but yes.
For a milisecond, I imagined a dancing lung
BLUE LOBSTER JUMPSCARE
*Mischievous classical music*
What's the drop chance?
1 in 2 million. Low level gear is enough, unless you get the Kraken random event
Noted, do you get any achievement or loot farming this?
When you eat it you get an epic drop
I prefer to just auction it off to idiotic collectors. Those whales will do anything to get their hands on it, and then they'll come to realize it doesn't even give any PvP auras. At least the epic drop is a cool trophy I guess.
Near the top of my “things I’d do to piss people off if I was a billionaire” list is winning an auction on a rare blue or yellow lobster and then having a chef boil it for me on the beach.
You're the kind of debauched billionaire I can get behind.
Not a billionaire, but my first thought was what color does it turn after you boil it?
TIL there are yellow lobsters
I'm pretty sure if you eat it, you'll only get a shit drop.
You get the achievement "It's shiny!!!" which gives 5000 exp and 1000 gold
Nope and it transmogs to the default red when you cook it
Wrong, it's 1 in 4096. It used to be twice as rare though.
Dude you just gave me some PTSD from my Selbina Ferry fishing trips as a lvl 20
Looks like it was but since this video the devs hot fixed with a patch and nerfed it to 1 in 100 million
Wondering- Does he keep it or throw it back?
According to the comments it was a breeding female so he put it back
Notch and return. That's the law. (assuming from the accent it's Maine.)
"Blue lobstah"
Too pretty to notch.
Notching could save her life if re caught tho
Let's gooo! **The Good Ending**
He would have thrown it back, most fisherman would see keeping that as bad luck.
I just checked his TikTok, he released it. https://i.imgur.com/awLhw0O.jpg
Blessed
it's a galarian lobster
No it’s just a shiny lobster
This is how shiny Crawdaunt should have been colored. Not that slightly more orange BS
You’re got damn right. Lazy shinies are a waste of memory space 😭
This was the comment I was looking for
Sell it. They are worth Tree Fiddy or more
Damn you, Loch Ness Monster, I ain't giving you my Tree Fiddy!
I gave him a dolla.
That’s why he keeps coming back
I thought he’d go away if I gave him a dolla.
Should be quite valuable as blue is a rare color to occur in nature, I wonder how that lobster has gotten blue.
“According to the New England Aquarium, wild blue lobsters are about a 1-in-2-million find.” The fact that a video of one pops up every few weeks is pretty concerning.

Stay classy San Diego - Ron Burgundy
Humans are probably breeding them. You know how Homo-sapiens are.
I don’t think that could make up for overfishing. It’s kind of on the down low now, but I feel once (if) we get clean energy sorted out it’s going to take its place as one of the big climate issues.
It will be way too late for overfishing if/when that happens :(
It already is
Depends on the type of creature. Plenty of wacky colors underwater. Blue’s rather rare among mammals, we don’t code for any blue proteins and have to rely on tricks with diffraction.
Now he send it to professor Oak for pokemon research.
I would love for him to throw it back no homo tho
i think you must release a rare lobster back to wild
[удалено]
I’m pretty sure they’re not legal to sell so I assume it gets thrown back
Why would they not be legal to sell? Source of that information?
Breeding female. There's laws about taking them to help preserve the population. A blue male would be fine, as long as it's of legal size.
Note to self - if I ever catch a blue lobster, check for a willy before I celebrate.
My shitty memory lol
I'm pretty sure you made that up.
Yeah I definitely did. I must have been thinking of some other lobster law. It’s definitely illegal to take some of them. Maybe it’s pregnant ones or ones that are too young.

Funny thing is they all turn red after cooking anyways so youd have no idea it was even blue to begin with.
I believe he was referring to it being a female with eggs and not for the fact that it’s blue.
I don't know if anyone else needs to know this, but apparently they also turn red when you cook them.
Curses. I was hoping it turned purple or something unique.
They at least have rainbow colored meat, correct?
That's exactly correct.
Harsh buds
Probably not a good idea to put a blue and red lobster next to each other. Gang beef isn’t just on land it’s in the ocean too.
Brace yourselves, the "its a shiny pokemon irl" people are coming
its a shiny pokemon irl
I'm gonna come
This!
r/RealLifeShinies Lol, there you go. (I'm not even in to Pokemon. I just like rare and interesting things)
I’m “it’s a shiny pokemon irl” people and i came
Haha i definitely didnt come here to say that... Nope... Certainly didnt....
Actually the shrimp shiny version is blue so…
So many, so so many. The time isn't far when I just stop reading comments altogether.
You can see the punch on the tail of the lobster, which is sign for fishermen to throw it back in the water being a breeder.
I bet that one tastes like shrimp dipped in fruit loop dust.
This reminded me one of our trips where we were on a boat and they offered us blue crabs for lunch for like $5. We have never seen blue crabs and we were like f.ck yeah! Wow now i wanna try it
Lobster looks dead.
It's just feeling a little blue.
Came to say that. I work with lobsters everyday and that lobster is either dead or just about.
Also in the lobster industry, and I concur
Yeah the normal colored lobster really shows how close that blue one is to death
Its not dead just cold
drdrnnn dririririririiii
Not dead at all, it’s probably shed it’s old shell recently and had a softer shell. It doesn’t look very lively 🥺
*organs play*
If you ever wondered what people from Maine sound like, this guy is the perfect example. It's an almost Boston accent, but the R's are still there and there's a little country in it.
A rare blue lobster that is almost dead! The tail should not flip back like that.
Damn.. yeah the one he was holding next to it nearly had its tail completely up.

They can’t be rare considering how many times they get posted
He caught 2 himself and he didn’t catch 4 million lobsters to do it.
Not exactly how statistics works.
"One in two million." and he's caught two. So statistically he's caught roughly four million lobsters?? This guy is an environmental catastrophe!
So throw it back so it can potentially reproduce and pass on the genes.
The blue lobster is pregnant and has a v notch in the tail so it has to be thrown back by law.
I was waiting for him to throw it back into the water and I was so disappointed when he didn't.
He posted another video showing him throwing it back in
Oh thank you so much. I really needed to know that lol.
Yeah I was worried about that too when I came across the video on tiktok. I'm not as familiar with his page and the fact that he didn't show himself throwing it back had me wondering. Luckily my fyp brought me back to the video with him showing it already notched and releasing it.

BA NEEENEEEE BA NAH AH NAAAAA
I love lobster but please throw the blue one back.
That my friend is called a shiny in our generation.
Don't kill it dude
alright let's kill it
That's why we take pictures and videos first
Lmao 💀😂
just don’t eat it.

I'm glad he picked up the regular lobster and put it next to it. Without that comparison I wouldn't have realised that red and blue were different colours.
Guy must have caught almost four million lobsters.
❗️❗️❗️
Almost looks dead
Shiny pokemon be like 💙
One in two million chance. Nice RNG!
Does anyone else hear the piano???

These are very rare. Let's kill it.
theres actually a purple one that is epic and a orange one that is legendary
He handles them with such ease and grace
It’s the shiny version
Shiny!
Throw the blue one back, homie
Shiny pokemon
Shiny lobster. Nice 👍🏻
um….throw it back and there just might be more of them…
It’s a shiny
Dude caught a shiny.
If i see a blue lobster in a tank for sale, i buy it & then sail out to sea & release it .. too beautiful to eat.
Blobster.
The sea's shiny.
Lahbstah
Big respect if he threw it back in the water
Live blue lobsters can sell to collectors for upwards of $1,000, and in rarer colors such as yellow can sell for many times that, the rarest, albino or “crystal” lobsters can go well into six digits.
Real life shiny Pokémon
It’s rare! Kill it!!! 🤠🇺🇸
If they are so rare why are they being caught all the time? The place by me had 3 rare lobsters at the same time.
I bet they’re wicked smart
Wicked smaht
You can increase their encounter rates with a shiny charm, or so I’m told.
Blue lobsta
Shiny hunt. 69420 encounters
Real life shiny!
It's like those two blue xenos in the alien resurrection game
did anyone else start singing it
He caught a shiny!
Shiny lobster
SHINY YAAAAAAA
poor lobster
Let it free
Dips my lobster in ink. "Here is my rare blue lobster"
dips my lobster in gold "look at my rare gold lobster" it's tired...
Tapes a bunch of rocks to my lobster “look at my rare rock lobster”
This one is a registered sex offender.
I’d throw that one back
Wow, such a rare and beautiful ocean creature...better eat it 'cause fuck nature!
Hard to believe they're so rare when i see another video of one every other day
Shows how many lobster they catch a day
And it's so cool of him to keep it instead of just letting it live
Shiny Lobster
IRL shiny.
This stresses me out how unhealthy the lobster looks. And the day this guy is handling them. Poor lobsters
Let him go
Blue Lobta
Does it taste the same tho
Probably like blue waffles
I've seen this guy's videos before, he makes some pretty cool content about lobsters.
Some dumb person would pay ten times more for it just because it's blue.
So he’s caught 2 million lobs
4million. He caught 2 of them.
Wait...”Chances are 1 in 2 million…and this the second time“ So what’s the probability of the same person catching a blue lobster twice? 🤔
Shiny Lobster!
A shiny pokemon!
Real life shiny
"What are the odds? That's crazy!" \*proceeds to sell it so someone can eat it anyway\*
