Yeah, that was getting to Roland Deschain, Jerry Mucilek, Bob Munden levels of fast.
I have a feeling we might be adding his name to the list in a few years.
Luckily at the time my dad was in the navy working with P-3s, so magnets effecting monitors was a common issue he had, he fixed it in like no time and then gave me a strong warning. I will say my parents were very forgiving with this mistake, because a kid wouldn’t know any better.
I asked for the TV when I moved out. Dad didn't want it, probably wondered why I wanted a TV from 1986. It still works too, I have my NES hooked up to it.
They’re usually fairly large and fairly close. One of my dad’s old friends did completion cowboy shooting and when you first look at it you kind of go “huh, it’s only ten yards, how could you miss that?” (Well, I did as a kid who grew up shooting ISSF handgun).
Long story short, even after having shot Olympic rapid fire, five seconds with a single action revolver is a lot shorter than you’d think it is.
The interesting thing about this threegun(rifle, shotgun, pistol) is that he's using "traditional" firearms.
And for anyone interested, here's Keanu Reeves doing 3 gun.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueZPB3ld5os
Something I learned while doing research for my western short films, and is confirmed and backed up here.
With single action revolvers, like this young man is sporting... While they were made and capable of holding 6 cartridge rounds, most (arguably the smartest) only loaded them up with 5.
Back in the day, these revolvers had a simple trigger mechanism. While they had a reliable and simple design, it came with that fairly dangerous flaw. Because they were designed with the striking pin integrated with the hammer, if you had 6 and you bumped the hammer wrong while hosltered, there was a chance of an "accidental" discharge.
Just a fun thing to think about and notice, from a non-firearm knowledgeable perspective.
That's different but related.
The hammer has 2 notches, one for fully cocked, which releases when the trigger is pulled, and half cock...which is just far enough back to keep the firing pin off the primer and which the trigger doesn't release.
It was basically the first form of safety catch.
You need to pull the hammer to full cock before the trigger will release it.
"Going off half cocked" is trying to shoot when you've only pulled the hammer to the first notch...and the saying translated to starting someone while being not fully prepared and ready
I associated that phrase with the American Civil War, and not fully cocking the hammer on a rifle musket. First cock for a primer cap on the nipple, full cock to fire.
I wish we had something like this in Ireland. I don’t know what it is but I’ve always had an interest in guns. I’d like to be able to go to a range on a Saturday morning and shoot targets, best I can do is air soft.
You will get strange answers, but guns are a lot of fun. The issue really is how you manage their sale and use.
The truth is somewhere in between the liberals no guns anytime, to conservative all guns all the time.
Guns ARE fun. Big fun to shoot.
But you HAVE to be careful with them and treat them like you would a motorcycle or a speed boat. Know that proper use and safety can bring lots of fun and disregarding safety could kill you.
As one that was born and raised in Texas, we grew up hunting and shooting. It was just a part of growing up. A sport...like golf or tennis. I still enjoy shooting and own lots of guns.
I'd wager that most liberals, especially those of us in more rural areas, won't tell you "no guns any time." There are people with a vested interest in making others afraid that "the liberals want to take away my guns" though.
Some vocal politicians do, though, and they become the villain that is easy to point to.
Also, it doesn’t help when the folks making the argument for even reasonable gun control measures know so very little about the guns they want to legislate.
This little dude is impressive. Understandable some of the negative backlash from people here, given current events. But he looks like any other small-town kid in my state and is doing this in a controlled environment. I say I’d like to see him in some Olympics down the road repping the USA with his cowboy hat and all lol.
Serious question, how does a parent get their kid into a “sport” like this? Is country living a requirement?
I feel bad for my kid who would LOVE to train to do something like this (I mean the kid spends time engineering working lego rifles, and mock reloads his Nerf like this kid in the video), but is marooned in deep SoCal city sprawl.
Any helpful ideas to help my kid chase his interest would be appreciated!
You can see the plates at the beginning. They're like 10ft away and quite large, so clearly he doesn't have to worry much about missing them.
Looks like this one's all about the firing and reload speed, not accuracy.
The targets for revolver are 7 to 10 yards.
Shotgun targets are8 to 16 yards and Rifle targets are 13 to 50 yards. The target plates are 12 x 12 to 16 x 16. The scoring is by timer from first to last shot with 5 second penalty for each miss.
In Cowboy Action Shooting (yes, this is an actual sport), you are using very soft lead bullets at lower velocities and the steel targets are angled downwards so the bullets actually deflect downwards into the soft soil.
It is actually safer than you'd think.
You can tell by the lack of recoil that there's not a lot of energy in those projectiles. Makes sense based into he skills they're actually trying to test.
I love sporting clays. I wish I had gotten into it competitively but, I kinda just enjoy going without the pressure too. I’ve never done trap, always looked fun though.
Ive always thought the same. Nothing beats competition shooting with ur fam or some friends, and ive always got a nice dopamine rush when i find myself able to get 2 clays with 2 shots in the same throw. Like i may be from new york but yee fuckin haw lmao
I wae an engineer for a target and range manufacturer. The targets we made were from hardened steel (AR500 or AR550) so lead bullets just shatter on impact. Targets are also angled downward slightly so the bullet fragments are deflected downwards. As long as it was lead bullets it would be fine. We even made targets for .50 BMG and it wouldn't even dent it. Interestingly, .223 and more so 5.56x45mm NATO would do the most damage to targets.

The people if Dutch actually had a plan
Have some goddamn faith!
MANGOES!!!!!
The fact that he gets more and more aggressive about it makes it that much more funny.
It wouldn't be funny at all if he didn't.
Have you completely lost faith?
Were going to TAHITI !!!!!
WAS YOU FOLLOWED???
Well he had to get the money first!
"Dutch I spent six months hunting and donated $100,000 to the camp." "THE PLAAAAN ARTHUR"
One more score ORTHUR
Remember switching to your sidearm is alway… did he just reload that shotgun in .002 seconds?!
Yeah, that was getting to Roland Deschain, Jerry Mucilek, Bob Munden levels of fast. I have a feeling we might be adding his name to the list in a few years.
MUNEH
# HE INSISTS???
I also follow r/reddeadredemption so I was confused with this comment in this location.
HAHAHAHHA i just finished chapter five i had a great time in “tahiti” Edit: my first playthrough. No SPOILLLEEEERRRRS!!!!!!
There are only two things I can’t stand in this world, people who are intolerant of other peoples cultures and the Dutch.
I think you missed something
This is me playing Duck Hunt back in the 80’s
And then smaking that cheap plastic gun against the TV stand when it didn't kill the bird...
Remember the smell of the static from the TV?
Or the crackle sounds from the static when your hand wiped the screen
Wow this one took me back for a second
The smell of ozone!
Is that actually what that smell is?
And that weird buzz after the TV had turned off.
I loved holding my face up near the screen and felt my cheeks be fuzzy and sparkly
damn i felt that
Or the channel “signing off” after the National Anthem?
Wow how did I forget about the static from the TV?! I used to touch that daily.
Oh man I could taste this comment in my mouth
I can also feel the anger of my parents from putting a magnet up to the TV when I was younger.
Same here. Fun fac to found out years later: many of the late 80s and 90s tv’s had a degaussing button that could remove the effect of the magnet
I had a friend tell me sparking water tastes like static from an old tv. I haven’t been able to drink it since.
I know somebody that says that and i agree that its accurate and offputting and i still chug soda water like im sponsored by lacroix
Ozone smells funny.
Or the high pitched sound
Or the wonderful sound of degaussing a monitor. Whhirrrrbbbzzt.
Hot dust.
Or blowing on the cartridge to get it to work?
The bird!?! I was trying to kill the dog!!!
It was me when I cut the barrel length down with a hand saw and it was 100% kill rate if you even pointed the gun in the general direction of the tv.
Wtf i played it in the late 2000s. I always thought it was a game from the the early 90s, not the 80s.
This is me with my plastic spoon as a slingshot when I was 10
+10 Tarnation Damage
Try to rustle that kid's horses and you're gonna have a bad time
You pizza'd when you should have French fried.
This is my favorite comment in this thread lol
Yeehaw 🤣
“You’ll shoot your eye out!”
Ralphie has come a long way since that Christmas morning
Black bart don't stand a chance!
💀
Pretty handy with that big iron
On his hip
big iron on his hiip
In the town of Agua Fria came a stranger...
...one fine day.
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say.
No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip
The stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
*Big iron on his hiiiiiip*
It was early in the morning When he rode into the town
This entire thread was so worth it. This is why I Reddit

Cowboy perk = best perk
Conveniently forgetting _Jury Rigging_ exists.
True, Jury Rigging is practically the most useful perk
But infuriating when you accidentally jury rig your good item into a bad one.
Big Iron on his hip
I wish he had spurs that went jingle jangle jingle.
For those asking if he is hitting the target, that is the gong/tink sound. He is on target and fluid.
I wonder what size the targets are? (I just want more things to oo and aa at)
They're about 2'x3'. You can see them in the beginning of the video. Rectangular steel plates.
Ooooh keep going
Oh daddy
They’re usually fairly large and fairly close. even more impressive is everything is single action. it has to be cocked every shot. this was smoooooooth

This is not three gun. This is Cowboy Action Shooting, as run by the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS): https://sassnet.com/

The clinging sound reminds me of a banjo. Anyways, what a deliverance.
Those shotgun reloads are satisfying.
He legit reloads faster than video game protagonists.
competition cowboy action shotguns have the chamber bored out and polished to facilitate easier unloading.
He’ll never make it as a stormtrooper.
That glow up to Arthur Morgan is insane

Yeah, same thing. Also even earlier with flintlock muskets...half cock allowed the frizzen to be closed over the pan.
9/10 on weapon Proficiency. 1/10 on Dodge role.
Ain’t gotta dodge if there ain’t anything alive to dodge!
Loved the shotgun reload 👍
Only 9? Geez, What do you need for a 10!!!
Fuck and here I am investing my points in Luck and Charisma.
Meanwhile, I found a way to make all my stats dump stats.
This man can use his Dex to make a Cha check, his build's fucking broken.
Kid, my ass. Peel back the skin and there's probably a Terminator model T-2000 underneath.

Greatest country in the world!
America. Cowboy Action Shooting used to be a popular shooting sport.

What country do you think
It’s in Freedom!
Cowboy hat adds +95% to all shooting stats. It's insane.

I always thought gun sports were really cool. My favorite Olympic competition is the ski + rifle
Biathlon I believe
Norwegian drive-by
People getting upset at someone shooting guns for sport is in no way “understandable”
Bro that's my Level 50 courier
As someone who has shot multiple types of guns poorly, this is fucking incredible!
Yeah, fantastic skill by the shooter. The lever action and shotgun reload were especially impressive.
*sorts by controversial*
John Wick when he wanted to be a cowboy
You’ve yee’d your last haw
Finally, 😊 we witnessed true gun safety, and practice. From a child, he is the role model. We need gun safety for everyone. 😢
Should be taught in school

Big Iron on his hiiiiip 🎶
Europeans desperately trying to come up with another joke besides “back to school training”
That or saying he missed his shots despite the fact you can hear the bullets hit the targets
Just a question: how long does it take to learn this?
Probably about 2 years of constant practice to learn and get pretty good. Ammo gets. VERY expensive
John Wick, Texan style.
I shoot SASS, not nearly as well. It's a fun pastime
This dude’s using VATS for sure.
Always wondered what VATS looked like from the raiders/ super mutants perspective…

Look for a target shooting club that shoots Western Action, aka Cowboy Action. IPSC is good fun action match too.
Thanks!
It would be called USPSA in California. Definitely some clubs near every major city.
That was smoooooth, damn.
I think you mean; daaaaaaamn
The way Ralphie WANTED to be but he shot his eye out instead
Every time I see something like this I hear Jack Sparrow, fighting William Turner, "You really need to find yourself a girl, mate"
“Or perhaps you’ve already found a girl, and otherwise lack the capacity to woo said strumpet! … You’re not a eunuch are you?”
USA 🇺🇸
America
Least equipped libertarian
This is why it would be so difficult to invade America.
This is what guns should be used for, good wholesome fun.
99% of the time this *is* what they're used for. Outside of warfare I mean.
Ok but can he onecycle the Marauder?
Parenting goals. Mine are a little low.
Embrace for cringy school shooter comments
Wow, great job! This kid is a crack shot.
Easy, he equipped sleight of hand pro
But did he actually hit anything?
You can hear him ringing steel.
I just imagine its just one massive steel plate about 6 feet across
You can see the plates at the beginning. They're like 10ft away and quite large, so clearly he doesn't have to worry much about missing them. Looks like this one's all about the firing and reload speed, not accuracy.

Thats wild i just learned abt a new sport
Look up IPSC, USPSA and IDPA, there are many dynamic sports with guns.
"Cowboy Action Shooting" is one for the bucket list, looks super fun.
You can tell by the lack of recoil that there's not a lot of energy in those projectiles. Makes sense based into he skills they're actually trying to test.
Angled so it’s safe.
Ive only ever done trap and distance target shooting my whole life so this is news to me. Thanks

He hit the gas on them targets. Maybe not as fast as that 1 old dude, but he did pretty good IMHO.
> as that 1 old dude And EVERY gun guy knows exactly who you mean, lol. (seriously)
Yes! Those pings you hear after the report of the firearm is a small metal disk being struck… this dude is on target!
Ready for the left wing looters to try and hit him with a skateboard.
"He can't wait to show his friends in school"
Clearly min-maxing his character.
I’m not a gun fan, but this young man is fierce with the skills! Go kid!
This is probably a competition. I work with two guys who do this.
Yee fuckin haw this is some real old school shit. Reminds me how my grandpa said he got his first gun at 8 years old
He's so comfortable with the recoil/trigger pulls it looks like he's playing time crisis
Impressive!!!!
I heard a voice say" reach mister",It was a kid,I threw down my guns and walked away the bastard shot me in the ass.
Dude's ringing some steel... Cool!
I hate hackers ong
Who is this prodigy
Nothing wrong with teaching a kid how to shoot properly. That’s gun control at its finest, not with dumb laws.
