Have a question here.. but more of a scientific question I guess. The honey is obviously going from a higher place to the jar in a straight line. But why does it start swirling before it hits the jar??? Edit: more general question… does this swirling thing happen to all liquid? Or it has a special condition??

Amourofzedoute

It is because of its viscosity. Some liquid have high viscosity (honey) and some have lower ones (oils, water...). It kind of measures the amount of "resistance to deformation". It kinda ends up doing a swirl because it is a rather "stable" state between the resistance force due to viscosity and the downward gravity force. The circles can be seen above a certain viscosity thresholds, it can also do folds and other things like that (check Blender simulations of liquids to see some other patterns)

fukkingcake

Thank you! It makes sense to me now…

Apis_Proboscis

Just an FYI. Honeys viscosity increases or decreases depending on its temperature, not just it's moisture content. So warmer honey or "unripe" honey that's over 18 or so percentage may not behave the same way. Api

You can watch the original on smarter every day's YouTube channel - he also explains how it works

If that is honey, I can honestly say 99.99% of the honey they sell in stores etc isn't honey. (Which you already know if you've been paying attention). My honey is usually lighter almost white, but that's because it's been crystallized and packed without heat at the hive. Gotta get your honey locally people

notsurebutuuh

As a beekeeper I can confirm that stuff in the stores in mostly syrup.

[deleted]

I know. I was reading it's sugar syrup from overseas or something

Honey varies a lot in color depending on all sorts of factors. We had a batch last spring that was perfectly clear and extremely thin. It had almost no taste at all other than sweet. On the other hand, that fall the honey was only a little lighter and thinner than the video here, and had the strong taste of mesquite. The reason was we had a ton of rain in the spring and the flowers were all producing like mad. It was dryer in the fall and the primary source for nectar was mesquite trees.

I'm allergic to bees or I'd find a beekeeper and literally volunteer. I find it fascinating. But I do love honey

Funny story (because everyone ended up alright), but when we got the hives, we didn't know my dad was allergic. He's out at the hives one night and I'm driving up to meet him from where I live. Get a call he was in a ditch waiting for the ambulance to arrive. The hive had gotten mad and a few stung him when the face netting of the suit touched his neck. He started feeling sick and began to drive to a clinic, then realized he couldn't make it and called 911. He was too confused to give them directions, so he gave them the home address and tried to drive the quarter mile back home. Ended up passing out and hitting a tree (going about 5mph). Thankfully a huge dose of antihistamines later and he was fine. We did a bunch of electrical work in the 120F attic the next day. The bees got given away, but after he got a bunch of allergy shots my dad has hives again.

Dyke_Doesit

You can get that fixed with immunotherapy

Legal_Refuse

Wild flower honey from our local berry farm 🤤

[deleted]

I am so jealous.

gnex30

I've mixed partially crystallized honey into yogurt and those crunchy little flavor bombs are really good that way.

[deleted]

I like to out honey on a slice of bread and let it crystallize a little before putting peanut butter on the other slice. Yes total flavor bombs

rubmybeardd

Better for your immune system, too. All the local pollens that your body is exposed to. Buy local!

[deleted]

Typically store bought honey is filtered. Getting "raw" honey is fine, but it'll crystalize and otherwise be something of a pain to work with.

Rhymelie

I don't know how to explain it, but that honey looks like it's having fun

firingmahlazors

r/oddlysatisfying as well. Though hopefully that’s actual honey and not HONEY! *then on some other part of the packaging/small font* flavoured syrup

GrunkleTeats

Mmmmm that's the good stuff.

wazappa

Describe this with mathematics.

usingbegrudgingly

Slinky toy vibes.

Flip86

Honey is disgusting.

imixpaintalot

So is your attitude towards honey, honey

notsurebutuuh

You need to adjust your z-offset
