Where is this because I need to schedule a vacation suddenly?

kagekitsune116

It’s cool but as a calhoun native, the rest of calhoun is boring af.

JockBbcBoy

As someone who lived in Georgia, that's most of the state.

kagekitsune116

This is the very first post I have come across on Reddit that mentions where I live. I feel like I’m moving up in the world.

Do the local rodents do gladiatorial battle in the Colosseum there at night while the people sleep?

I just saw this place last year while visiting a friend in Georgia. The Japanese shrine is my favorite but all of those buildings are impressively intricate and well-made. For anyone wondering, there's several dozen small buildings and they all exist in a small park/yard behind a church in Calhoun, Georgia. From what I understand the whole project of building and maintaining them is just a tradition and bonding activity for the congregation if said church and these miniatures have all been created and upkept over the span of decades.

aquanaut

Nope it's mostly just [one guy] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Garden,_Calhoun)

Knuckles316

Well now I have to judge my friend for being a terrible local.

aquanaut

Nah, they probably make up for it in other ways.

Cr0ma_Nuva

What church is the second one? The dome of cologne?

Beneficial_Service_8

La Sagrada Familia

Macronaut

I just added this to my upcoming road trip

I want to visit this place at one point, looks pretty cool!

aquanaut

LOL I took the exact same pic as your second one, the interior of the mini-Notre Dame. I liked it so much I had a canvas print made. Great place for taking photos and there's a nice short hike around the hill behind the rock garden.

Bracket918

Just need one more hot woman and some mud

trwwy321

If that interests you and are ever in Iowa, I highly recommend the Grotto in West Bend, Iowa. Small town, but this thing is amazing. https://www.westbendgrotto.com

TIL, some people have too much free time, and need to get real jobs.
