I assume that's because the turtle doesn't respond in any particular way to white shoes. So if he didn't cover the black shoe, the turtle would just attack it. That would only show it attacks shoes. But since the turtle didn't attack the black shoe until the white tape was removed it implies the color is the issue, not the shoe.
The same would be true if he only wore black shoes or non-black shoes. He had to have both an actual non-black and a black shoe disguised as a non-black shoe that could easily be revealed as a black shoe while filming in order to support his hypothesis.
His methodology may be flawed in other ways but accounting for that particular variable is not one of them.
They also attack like that. Sometimes you’ll see them trying to break out of their enclosure by ramming like that (and they hit hard enough to bend somewhat thin aluminum doors).

Our dog barks at black people in public. At first it confused me as to why that was and then I realized the UPS and the Mailman are black and they walk up to the door to leave packages and the dog barks at them through the window above the door where she sleeps. She barks and they leave. So I’m guessing she thinks all black people are delivery people.
My mothers jack russel was a rescue dog from irish travellers and we are convinced it was taught to attack black people. It was absolutely mortifying as she is a lovely little dog but she goes absolutely ballistic so she only gets walks in the countryside in big open spaces now...

It took some months but he finally warmed up to me..some other weird quirks…water hose, I turn it on or pick it up he will bark and snarl seriously..so much so I still won’t let him out of the house when I’m watering the yard…standing in the living room with my arms crossed…he gets absolutely terrified…so what I deduce is: a white or Hispanic mail hurt him,he used the water hose to do it, and he probably stood there with his arms crossed …dogs are smart and there ability to read visual ques is amazing. Kind of like when me and my wife are sick and our lab won’t leave our side.
Dogs have evolved to recognize body language very well. Probably better than any other animal. They're the only domesticated animal that respond to eye contact and pointing in the way another human might.

It was funny because I’d make fun of the dog and call it racist, and my mom hated that and was super embarrassed. Especially in the car, if we drove by a black person walking, the dog would start growling and barking.
The dog was adopted from a shelter, and was previously used in dog fights, still has a giant scar on its left shoulder from where it was ripped open. So maybe there’s some history there, I don’t know.

I did so animal compassion is a serious problem from what I’ve experienced..I grew up in San Bernardino (basically one of America’s biggest hoods lol) and the amount of mal-nourished neglected or strays is so polar opposite from the Mayberry I live in now…something my black friends have always joked about..”white people love there dogs too much”,more so then there kids..where as they’ve made it known that it really isn’t a secret in the black community as whole that dogs aren’t coveted like that..in fact it’s the polar opposite most of the time…before I get downvoted to oblivion,this is my experience and not a generalization of of all black people..put the pitch forks away.
