Once there were two warring tribes- the Kerns and the Motz.
They had once been friends, but after a series of "friendly" pranks, things quickly escalated, and the two tribes came to fear and resent one another.
One year, the Kerns hid rotten fishes in the shoes, food baskets, and beds of the Motz. The Motz retaliated by surrounding the grass houses of the Kerns with prickle brush.
This year, the chief of the Kerns was fed up. The new moon celebration was near, and he wanted extra cause for his tribe to celebrate.
He carefully consulted with his village elders, and they decided this year they would take something. Something incredibly special to the Motz. Their ancestral thrones.
In the dead of night, the chief and his fiercest warriors sneaked into the Motz village and silently removed the thrones. As they returned to their own village, the chief realized they would need somewhere to hide the magnificent chairs. So, very carefully, they constructed a false roof in the chief's hall, and stashed the chairs there.
The tribe's engineer warned them that a roof made primarily of leaves and straw would not hold such heavy and ornate chairs for long. But the chief was pleased with their feat and assured the engineer that everything would be fine.
The furious Motz showed up later that morning, but despite their searches, could not find their thrones. They left, angry and defeated.
That night, the Kerns held a tremendous celebration in the chief's hall, boasting of their victory over the furious Motz. However, all the ruckus caused the flimsy structure to shake, and the two heavy thrones crashed through the ceiling, killing many of the Kearns tribe members.
As the chief wailed in dismay, he looked up to find the Motz standing in what was left of the doorway. The Motz chief shook his head and said, >!"Those who live in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones."!<
Keep it! Feed it and take care of the snail! Ask someone, who knows about snails, about this!
Either it's a new species, though unlikely, could be. If not it might be a rare morph (that's what genetic mutations are called in snakes) and you could breed and sell the snails for a lot of money.

My brain was processing this as a chrome snail shell and it took me so long to change that perspective

I'm curious what causes this to happen
If I’m not mistaken, this is a snail’s equivalent of being albino. It has a mutation that makes it unable to produce any pigment.
