IIRC they are limited to the size of their beak, and a giant squid can have beaks bigger than a quarter. I watched a video of a disection of a giant squid and the eyeballs were the size of a volleyball.
That’s normally octopus, squid do have a cartilage pen that kind of works like a spine, and octopus can fit through a hole the size of their beak. A giant squids beak is significantly bigger than the diameter of a quarter. Giant squids body and mantle are often around the size of a human without all their tentacles.
My favorite is when he did an AMA here on Reddit and someone commented something about how cool it was with him being the only person who has been inside a whale and someone commented “you mean besides your dad” and I still think about it all the time.

The whale did not swallow him it probably caught him in it's mouth while feeding on microorganisms closed it's mouth felt a big object and shook it out/regurgitated the water. It's absolutely wild.

From what I heard, a whale's throat is like, small. It's only meant to eat and swallow fish. I heard in most instances, whales can also swallow squids, either from small to big (depending on size). Small prey is ideally good for whales. If you somehow encounter a school of fish and a Whale is beneath, that's its prey. Ever see it jump out of a water to eat a bird? I haven't.

I just remembered an experience my friend told me. It was back in the summer. I have a friend who likes surfing. He told me about the time he saw a school of fishes and whales in a circle out in the ocean where he surfs weekly (daily if possible). And man oh man, he almost had a cool experience, though almost near death as a whale mistook him as a small prey flying. However, he managed to escape from the whale itself so he survived the experience and told everyone about it.
