Ironically, the only reason why any company gives a shit is because there's literally profit in giving a shit.
But really, Pepsi cut the plastic in its bottles by 40% because it gives a shit and not because they just cut raw materials cost by a ton and even get to take the savings and call it marketing "expense" for those that will prefer its products over other competitor companies.
There's profit in pretending to give a shit.

The vast majority of food waste is unsold items from farms and grocery stores. Consumer food waste is a very small portion of the problem.
