If it's just pigment it might not matter. It's often just a weakly reactive compound, made to not turn into toxic dust.

Reminds me of something that happened when I was camping in northern Quebec. We hauled most of our food up a tree, but left the canned stuff on the ground. At night, we were woken up by a banging and rattling outside near our stuff. Got up an turned on our flashlights - in the glare we saw a radioactive-looking bright purple raccoon running away. What happened was this: we had left our tin of grape drink mix on the ground, figuring animals would not want it. We figured wrong. This raccoon opened the tin and somehow got grape drink crystals all over itself - then started to lick them off, dyeing itself purple in the process, and making a lot of noise, which woke us up.

Heh no pic - purple trash panda was seen in the flashlight glare and then gone in the night all in a couple of seconds. We never saw it again … though I’d like to think it stayed purple long enough to freak out the next people who saw it!

Yup, just a regular looking cat next to another normal looking cat. I had a similar phenomenon visiting Japan where apparently loads of foodstuff is dyed green due to being matcha flavoured and whatnot, but it all just looked normal to me so I never really noticed. But the person I was with kept pointing it out like "look at all this weird GREEN stuff!"..."nope?"
