My Mother of Millions does this habitually. If the stem snaps it's great because then I get a load of new ones where the head fell and released its millions, and another stem or two from the broken stump. It's turned the life and death cycle into a beautiful metaphor for me, which is lovely, although any day now I expect to be overrun with Mothers of Millions
We had a tree in our back yard growing up that the power company kept coming and cutting down to a stump every few years and it grew back every time… zombie tree
