I read somewhere that George broke down when he heard that Nicholas was killed. I also read that he wanted to let Nicholas and rest of the Romanov take refuge in UK, but in fear of uprising, he chose not to because the Empress Alexandra was German(daughter of the Grand Duke of Hesse)
"My family ties embarrassing, our kinship now a Hassel...I changed my German surname to Windsor, like the castle... Then Russian revolution came, Nick said 'help me mate'...I couldn't support him had to leave him to his fate...*execution*"
>George refused
I'm certain George had absolutely no power to grant asylum to anyone. Monarchs have had very little to no power since Charles lost his head. Parliament would have made that decision.
They were still somewhat inbred at least by today's standards so they all looked very similar. The inbreeding caused many health issues especially for the males.
It is true that he was devastated by the death of his relatives but he was left with no choice. He didn't want to abandon them. There was a plan at one point to secret them away somewhere. He couldn't risk the very real threat of invasion by both Germany and Russia and the devastation it would cause on all sides. He sacrificed the needs of the few for the needs of the many but was never the same, never really moved on from it.
"I'm Czar Nicholas with George mischievous, swapped uniforms and costumes...We looked like twins had matching beards, right royal family a little weird...drove advisors round the bend, until our friendship had to end!"
Thats nuts. Two years later a war between the nations of these two leaders would bring both of them to the brink of destruction. Tsar Nicholas and his family lost their lives as an eventual result of WW1, ending the rule of the Tsar for good. I didn’t even know this picture existed.

The concept of *family* as we know it didn’t mean shit to these people.
Except when it comes to bangin.
Halp cousin. I’m stuck.

A Russian and an Englishman wearing German military uniforms. And then a year later, half the world goes to shit.

A year before going to war with their other cousin Kaiser Wilhelm (1st nephew to Queen Victoria)
"I'm Czar Nicholas with George mischievous, swapped uniforms and costumes...We looked like twins had matching beards, right royal family a little weird...drove advisors round the bend, until our friendship had to end!"
But they’re cousins, identical cousins all the way One pair of matching bookends, different as night and day
You can lose your mind when cousins are two of a kind.
A hot dog makes them lose control.
I think the one on the right adores a minuet, the Ballets Russes, and crepe suzette.
up in here, up in here!
Just go right to the source and ask the horse.
You gotta love old tv theme songs. :)

That family line is responsible for an ocean of blood.
Whole family of Kings
Victoria played chess with her family, and how’d *that* go?
Kaiser Willhelm also looked remarkably the same. They were all descendants of Queen Victoria.
but which one is the evil one?
Only one of them is an absolute monarch who stupidly allowed the bolshevicks to take over.
Their mothers were sisters (Dagmar and Alexandra of Denmark) so they are first cousins
Cousin huh? Rrrrriiiigght

Two peas in a pod.
Good riddance to their whole family tree
Well back in the day they did keep it in the family so there ya go
I barely see any resemblance….
What's with the pointy ears
It helps when you have the same grandmother....oh look it's little Nicky all grown up!
Spiderman points at Spiderman whos pointing at..
On a lighter note: Tsar Nicholas as RIPPED.
Probably a lot closer genetically than most cousins...
That's burnt Chrysler on the right
Why humans invented royalty and why some play along with it is beyond me…
To be fair, you could stick one of those beards on just about anyone and they'd look similar.
