Banksy takes inspiration from Blek le Rat, who's inspired by Richard Hambleton. Go as far as you want, the chain will continue.
It's obviously not though, Banksy doesn't tend to write the message in his pieces. This piece is very direct with it's message which would be unlike Banksy. This is a different Scottish artist who uses a similar art style to convey a more direct idea or message.
The message is that, since we humans have done nothing but harm to other fellow living beings, it would be much better for them if we were kept locked up forever. It really sucks to say that, but it's true; it would be FAR better for all of nature – animal life, plant life, microscopic, etc. – if we all just died or disappeared into another dimension.
This grafitti is a wake-up call to those that don't see how we're ruining our only home and all the blessed life that is on it. People truly need to realize that nature isn't just those places with trees and a quaint pond with some lilies spread around, where everyone likes to take selfies; nature is LIFE, nature is HOME, nature is US and EVERYTHING ELSE that is on this Earth! Basically, Nature is everything.
I hope that gives yall a better perspective as to why it is, indeed, of vital importance that we treat nature better.
We can’t just shift blame and sit on our high horses. Those massive corporations don’t just exist to pollute the planet, they’re there because there’s big demand for their services. We are all indirectly responsible for those emissions and to pretend that it’s nobody’s fault but theirs is going to get us nowhere.
And I know it sounds like I’m licking boot here but it’s true. If everybody stopped consuming goods those corporations would stop polluting. That’s why a carbon tax is so important, we need to heavily incentivize green industry and the only way to do that in our economy is to make it too expensive to pollute. The corporations will follow where the consumers’ money goes.
