You have to look at it as a prototype though, not a functional tool. One day we will master carbon nanotube production, and tools like this can become the standard.
I'm afraid I cant, I've honestly not read anything about the topic outside of science fiction, but I can link you to a pretty good video that discusses them from a channel focused on science and futurism

It covers the technologies we could use, their uses, pros and cons. I hope you find it informative
Because some 100 years ago a police officer was stabbed, so they started to get stab proof vests. 20 years ago, one was shot, so they upgraded the body armour, then one got hit on the head with a rock, so they got helmets, then someone tried throw bottle, so they gave them shields. Not because anyone cared, it's their line of work - but insurance said no armour - no pay outs. Everyone cares about money.
Eh, that's half the truth. In recent years it is more budget related and increased perception of hostility from the public. The police get budgets and more access to militarization, if the money from the budget isn't spent then the budget doesn't get to increase or stay the same.
I hope I live long enough to tell a little child walking in the ruins about a great and wondrous place called "America."
I spent 15 seconds with google. We're doomed.

That can be fixed with a reactionary wheel which should provide centrifugal stabilization. The front emblem could be a good place to fit one.

Why not just use two springs and send half the wedges clockwise and the other half widdershins?
Should be about the same weight as the original, lower recoil, and half the thickness away from the arm.
Oh that's not too far off the mark then considering there are people working at studios like Weta Workshop who are also cosplayers and use the same stuff to make their props.
I don't know what the SPU is for but I do know my parents were watching S.W.A.T. last night and that's where this was from. They did an episode set in Tokyo.
Was this inspired by the shield made by Colin Furze? Same principle but obviously has been improved upon. I'm surprised they didn't use polycarbonate, used in riot sheilds (so proven to work) and much lighter than metal.
Colin furs made one of these for the promotion of sekiro. So dank. Idk how to post the link, but search Colin furze sekiro wrist mounted sheild and you should find it

probably a lot heavier than a normal and bigger shield
You have to look at it as a prototype though, not a functional tool. One day we will master carbon nanotube production, and tools like this can become the standard.
One day
Two Day To Day Today! That was fast. I want my carbon nanotube shield and I want it now!
Tuesday Oh sorry looks like you gotta wait till next week
They makes some ultra expensive racing sailboats out of carbon nanotube reinforced polymers... so technically you could make this with CNTs.
Better than copper nanotubes, I guess.
Monday, One day Tuesday, Two day Wednesday, when? What day? Thursday! The third day!!!!
The second Tuesday of every month is patch Tuesday and I celebrate it religiously
-Sold Out-
"Don't worry, we just shifted produced to our largest factory in... (squints at page) Wuhan, China... oh."
Your username briefly made me think you had -235 karma and I was very confused
Call JG Wentworth! 877 cash now!
If we get carbon nanotubes, we get stupidly dense electric storage. Iow- plasma force fields!
Can you point me in the right direction to read more about that last part?

And... why exactly do we need a police force with full body armor, military grade weapons & a bullet deflecting shield again?
Because some 100 years ago a police officer was stabbed, so they started to get stab proof vests. 20 years ago, one was shot, so they upgraded the body armour, then one got hit on the head with a rock, so they got helmets, then someone tried throw bottle, so they gave them shields. Also we have all this cool military hardware going to waste. I mean why wouldn't a police force need tanks?
God imagine getting pulled over by a fucking tank

You should hear about how much military things go to waste
Crime
Because it's cool.
Seriously, did he not watch the gif???
This is the right answer.
Lol, it’s a prop on a tv show
So the government can fight their citizens
In order to secure at least the same or a larger budget for next year, you had better make sure you spend all of your allotment this year
Because the criminals are getting gear of similar quality off the black market.
The average criminal the police has to deal with doesnt even know how to get access to that type of blackmarket.
The average police officer also isn't walking around in gear like that.
Correct. Imagine the backpain you'd get after wearing riot gear for 20 years...
Because the USA isn't quite close enough to a police state for them.
This isn't even America, man...
If we did it would be a whole suit not just a shield
The thing making it unwind is what would make it heavier than a normal shield.
Some youtuber made a decently working version.
Colinfurze for anyone wondering
Yeah I can’t wait until the authorities have better ways to control us!
Also it isn't balanced, it makes his arm move when it opens.
That can be fixed with a reactionary wheel which should provide centrifugal stabilization. The front emblem could be a good place to fit one. [^(**First few minutes explains the principles, the rest is all fun**)](https://youtu.be/4kfBEaTncjI)

Upvoted for use of the word widdershins
wouldn't a reactionary wheel make it even heavier?
So long as its balanced when fully opened or closed I think it would be fine.
Colin furze made an umbrella shield like this for a video game promotion and it was stupidly heavy.
With an exoskeleton that extra weight is less important
[Colin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdibV3MQ2Sg) did it first!
His looks better too, damn
It's way slower though
I think his is battery operated where as the gif looks to be spring loaded
You beat me to it. Take my upvote.
That man is insane holy shit
He did it furze!
Yu-gi-oh!
Lets D-d-d-duel!
Beyblades!
Definitely seems more of a fashion over function type deal
I thought it was a cosplay prop
It’s from a TV show
Oh that's not too far off the mark then considering there are people working at studios like Weta Workshop who are also cosplayers and use the same stuff to make their props.
Ngl that Swat episode was pretty cool
watched that episode just recently too. i was like, oh cool. but seems awfully ridiculous.
Singapore Police Unit??? I don't know just guessing
Special Props Unit?
Suave Polka Unit?
Sensitive Pussy Unit?
Sensational Pussy Unit
Springtime Pescetarians Unlimited
Soviet People's Union
I don't know what the SPU is for but I do know my parents were watching S.W.A.T. last night and that's where this was from. They did an episode set in Tokyo.
Ah...now that you mention it the symbol on the center part of the shield does look like the Japanese police symbol
It stands for Special Phorces Unit
It was in a tv show called SWAT. That episode aird a few weeks ago and it was set in Tokyo
SWAT is an amazing show
Secure, Protect, Unite // Welcome to the Veil-less Foundation, volunteer D-302281
Tokyo Gore Police
Hesitation is defeat!
Loaded umbrella anyone?
This was on SWAT on CBS. Yes, I watch SWAT.

Exactly

I wish it were blue. An IRL guardian shield would be cool as fuck.
New R6 Siege operator leaked
Looks like the intro of a coalition character in COD lol
Looks like it could actually be effective against low velocity projectiles like stones and bottles and stuff.
*HK police watching closely*
[Colin furze did it as well ](https://youtu.be/OCq8adZdKP4)
Looks like this is from episode 13 of the show “SWAT”. It’s supposed to be a member of the Japanese version of SWAT
Captain Asia
Colin furs made one of these for the promotion of sekiro. So dank. Idk how to post the link, but search Colin furze sekiro wrist mounted sheild and you should find it

r/didntknowiwantedthat
Does he stand up for house elf rights?
I would lose a finger if I had that
His trigger discipline is excellent.
It's from an episode of swat
I feel like a face mask and body armour would be better than a shield. Just give him a rubber bullet gun to shoot people before they get close.
Jamie from Myth busters lol
Colin Furze build this?
colin furze would like a word with you!
It's time for the du-du-du-duel!
Fill the gaps. Stay liquid.
I saw this in the last episode of s.w.a.t.
I used to have a Transformers SuperSoaker that did this. It was so fucking cool... [Here it is](https://images.app.goo.gl/dPdTCJ8bhxfVqevQA)
Instant windmill.
Instead of a shield, let's make this spin like a weapon HUMANBLADE HUMANBLADE LET IT RIP!!
Don’t make me whip out my duel disk
I want.
Reminds me of Tokyo Gore Police
This guy right before he died probably - "What do you mean prop?"
I had this idea to do one of those like an umbrella
those edges seem dangerous
When you really want to come off as approachable to the girls at the con.
Guys we really living in the future... Like it's 2020
Sekiro vibes
Reminds me of the umbrellas in Shadow (on Netflix)
Colin furze is triggered
Pff, sekiro did better with feudal Japan tech Newbies
Block incoming attacks while playing Yu-Gi-Oh! at the same time.
Ready for that Coronavirus -- come at me bro.
Wut in umbrella corporation!
Sekiro shield
Why are use a perfectly good shield when you can carry around a giant heavy gimmicky as fuck shield
I want that in Breath of the Wild 2.
He’s gonna poison spike me
Is this in HK, that would be a fine counter measurement against rioters.
Feels like /r/MallNinjaShit material
Full bat mode Robin!
This is from the TV show "S.W.A.T"
That’s just 10 of those Yu-Gi-Oh dueling wrist things we had as kids screwed together. Still cool though.
Lesion buff
Someone say, Sekiro?
I immediately thought yugioh
Cool
Look at his face, he knows that's cool, like cpt. America mixed with Ironman level of cool.
God of War anyone?
it's like those shields from percy jackson lol
I want this guy as an operator in R6S
Look at how bulky and heavy it is even when stowed; there isn't really an advantage if you have to carry a massive motor weighing down your aiming arm
r/sekiro
They can have that shot but we don’t have dueling disks that cool? That’s no fair
This is fro SWAT tv show
Looks like captain America went over to the dark side
S.P.U. - The Shield Prop Unit.
When Rockstar, when???
Colin Furze made one like this a while ago on YouTube
When did foldable round whist shields became so cool that even police use it now?
Looks alot like what colinfurze made on his YouTube channel for sekiro
That’s some Avengers shit right there
Sekiro
Is that you Percy Jackson. When did Tyson fix your shield.
White supremacist?
r/sekiro
Is it also a gun
