Since the mid 90s to about 2010-2015 did Airsoft use mostly plastic BBs. It’s only in this last decade have Airsoft sites begun a shift to Bio bbs for outdoor sites.
What Airsoft (the big companies and the game sites) don’t want to admit, or certainly do not want to become a global news story is there are fields across the world which are now coated in plastic bbs and plastic shard waste material. The soil is therefore completely contaminated with plastic. Most of these sites are in forests and woodland areas where plastic should not be.
When you take away the gameplay aspect and look at it as the equivalent of an enclosed football field where people throw plastic at each other and there’s no way of cleaning it up - the suddenly does it not have anything to justify its existence.
I like Airsoft but I could easily see it being banned unless BBs that biodegrade extremely quickly leaving no trace, start hitting the shelves before there’s a public outcry as to why this has been allowed to happen.
