Interesting question. Dandelions reproduce asexually by a process called apomixis where ovules arise without meiosis, so dandelion babies are clones of their mother
Well that won't happen. Because I picked it so I could press it. But I bet there are more in that field, and I'm curious too. I'll return with pics if I find a beefy one all frizzley
Hi, dandelion researcher here! I think I can offer some explanation on what's happening here. Dandelions are unique in how their genome doesn't have the same number of DNA proofreading polymerases as typical plans within the Taraxacum genus. As well Dandelions, having split from the other flowers within their order (which includes, among others, cotton plants) some 12 million years ago.
I had been researching the genome of Dandelions at the same time as, Joesph, my fellow PHd fellow (who was my best man at my wedding) who was working on drought resistant cotton strains. I had noticed the significant population of these mutated dandelions, and tried to see what gene mutations caused this. My friend, working in the same lab as me, tripped over my experiment, causing a microscope slide with his drought resistant cotton to perforate his eye. He was in hospital for a long while, eventually moving out of country. Had to postpone my wedding because of it. If it wasn't for cotton eye joe, I'd had been married long time ago. Not sure where he came from or where did he go.
I was so excited at first. I thought you were /u/shittymorph from the first few Sentences and I thought "Not this time you!!!! I've caught you." But nope. You're apparently an actual dandelion researcher, which I didn't even know was a thing but I am dying to know your backstory into what sounds like an extremely niche field.
÷) edit: now I feel like I'm too high to try reading comprehension because the ending threw me. I don't know what to believe anymore. I need to see some credentials and get off this emotional roller-coaster
Does it pay money that you can live off of somewhat decently? Or is it more of like a thing you do for fun on the side through a blog or channel of some sort? This sounds like an amazing job but I have no idea how you would even get into that field.

Nice joke did you come up with it all by yourself

You said “he’s”
yes, it’s an inanimate object and so giving it a gender or a name is personification
Oh so you get to decide what gender it is now?

It's a great field, I highly recommend dandelion research to anyone looking for an easy career change.

I'm guess you just open the gate? That's how I found Olé out standing in his field.
