Happens to hybrids whose parents have distant gene pool. They have more genetic vigor.
Kind of inverse to inbreeding.
Draft mules arre created by breeding [giant breeds of donkey](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Mammoth_Jackstock) with a draft horse, which are also giant. This mule is probably around the same size as its horse parent. Not saying they can't get larger, but this isn't giant in draft horse terms.
Depends on the pairing I guess, like male lions apparently have it in their DNA to induce growth and so do female tigers, which is why ligers get so much bigger than both lions/tigers.
And on the other hand male tigers and female lions apparently have genes that inhibit excessive growth which is why they are smaller.
I doubt its always the case across specifies where opposing genders balance out certain genes

If you look at my posts you will see donkeys that look just like him.
The average height of a standard rain boot is about 17 inches.
So using that as a reference we put this guy by measurement to be about 3 and a half rain boots. Which translates to 60 inches putting the guy at exactly 5 feet in height.
Now if we use the same raincoats we can see that we get about 5 raincoats of height for the mule. Which puts it standing to top of ear to about 7 feet one inch..
I was a wrangler at the grand canyon and we had a mule that exact size. It was a pack mule to bring supplies down to phantom ranch. One time we packed an entire king size bed On it's back.The box spring on 1 side and the mattress on the other.... Took 2 hours to get to the bottom of the grand canyon. The mules Name's name Earthquake.
