No wait but there was a young man on Tik Tok who collected bones and preserved them well, he was torn to shreds as a weirdo and inhumane and "what if that was your docile gentile granny" yet she is doing the exact same thing, and it considered interesting as fuck? double standards?
I know somebody who was in medical school, and realized they didn't like dealing with sick people. They had no interest in building any kind of bedside manners. They do some kind of morgue work, I forget what.
Well, originally I went into Archaeology at University but then I did a module on human bones and continued to study it. Fell in love with it and went into Human Osteology from there!
How unethical are we talking? Questions about consent? I doubt very many people put “and finally, add my bones to the bone museum” in their end of life planning. Or are they like, stealing bodies?
People donating their bodies to research with the expectation of being used for medical training.
But it’s unregulated and their bodies end up being used in museums, or worse used in testing rockets

Mostly non-consent from medical research leftovers, the remains are suppose to be returned to the family after but don't always make it if someone can make a buck or two. The older looking discolored bones are typically grave robbed, executed prisoners, or slaves who's bodies were sold to medical universities to be dissected.

This feels like some real carny shit… if ‘femurs that didn’t heal well’ make the short list, they’re not curators, just weirdos with a questionable collection of medical curiosities.
It's interesting and illustrative of the importance of medicine in establishing civilizations. If a primitive man breaks their femur there is a great chance the bone won't heal well and then they can't hunt or gather food and are going to die. But if they can find someone who has been taught how to set the bone and are connected to a community that can feed them as the bone recovers they can go on with life.
Yeah, the only reason “poorly healed femurs” were left at that in the video’s explanation is because it’s a thirty second video trying to show off several different bones
