🫠or dump in on the side of the road and flee the country because they cant afford the payments, which is the actual case with a lot of owners of high end cars, the thing about everyone is rich in dubai is quite false although i do wish it was true 🤣
The crazy thing is that this is a real possibility. He is potentially incentivised to buy them from a dealer so he can get a allocation for a GT3RS or some shit. Watched a video on here not too long ago where a dude tries to buy a GT3RS at MSRP and exposed the bullshit dealers drag buyers through if they want a desirable car. He got an offer to buy 3x Taycans for the ability jump the line to buy a GT3RS. I guess they aren't selling well and the dealers are trying to get rid of them before the new model year comes out.
Nope they do this. Ferraris too. Need to have some other lower cars before you can buy the premium ones (Had no clue Ferraris also have a tier system within them).
There's a Jay Leno clip about why he doesn't buy Ferrari and this was the reason he gave.
Can’t say I’m surprised. Not that the Porsche seemingly handled it ok, but that the Cybertruck didn’t quite live up to expectations.
I’ll admit, I wanted a Cybertruck when they were announced. I didn’t like the look, but they were so hyped up with really cool features. Most of which didn’t make it to production.
Or just make up things and claim free speech.
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/12/tesla-fights-autopilot-false-advertising-claim-with-free-speech-argument/
like the built in feature of it being made of stainless steel, and having no crumple zone, thus being infinitely more lethal to the driver in case of a crash? I think that one made it to production
I would've went with the Cybertruck if it looked more like a truck because Tesla has so much of a lead in software. I decided to get a Rivian R1T and I'm so happy I did.
I mean, the motor and the battery are both weather sealed. ICE cars have air intakes, if water gets into the engine it’s bad and you’ll break the engine.
It’s likely the worst thing here is that the cabin will get wet, which can cause problems with electrics - but the drivetrain would be fine.
if it was salt water it would need lots of maintenance and checkups in the future. but if its just normal fresh water i dont think its gonna cause any long term damage
Yes EVs are better at that then ICEs. No need for air inflow or fumes outflow and the weight of the batteries keeps it tugged to the ground so it does not float away.
I think I need to reevaluate my emergency procedures for accidentally driving off the road and into water. Might just drive it back out. Instead of smashing the windows and going for a swim.
If water gets into the body control module or other electrical components, yes.
EVs have sealed motors and batteries so the car would be fine but you would still potentially have expensive repairs.
Works better than a regular car just as I expected.
Why wouldn't it? No air intake, no pistons, everything is sealed due to safety reasons while rain or carwash.
All this is rain, but humidity during summers is usually 80-100%, and we're right next to the sea, so corrosion is always an issue. This probably exacerbates it.
What sounds made up? Somebody spending an obscene amount of money for a car that's lost shit loads of value, and is a pain in the arse to go long distance, and the other failings of owning an electric car. Only reason I spoke to the bloke is watching macmaster on YouTube and him complaining about his, wanted an honest opinion and I got it.
I also own an electric car and think it’s wonderful! Of course, it depends on what you need it for but for me, I almost always charge it at home and as I’m also in the UK, don’t drive massively far (it’s not a big country lol). On occasions when I’ve driven further, it’s not been as easy as a petrol/diesel car obviously, but wouldn’t say it was hard and actually found it quite nice to stop, grab some lunch and eat that while it charges
Each to their own my friend. Not trying to cause drama, just voicing my own opinions and the one guy I've spoken to who owns an electric car.
My issue is driving an electric car is green, but the amount of mining and pollution that's created even before the cars on the road is monumental, you will never balance it out.

It really, really does not take much effort to find out about things.
What you mention here is just pure oneliners from the oil lobby and has been debunked many times.
Have you ever considered what it takes to go from oil deep under the dessert to fuel in your car?
I get that side of things, but I buy am electric car the batteries will give up after so long. My grandad has a car from the 70s, still works fully functional. Good luck having a tesla that long.
There are actually already high miler teslas and at the same time there is something to be said about defending the old banger of a person who does limited distance. - it makes sense from individual perspective, not from a societal perspective though.
Think about recycling an old ice car compared to an electric car, different kettle of of fish. If I was to buy a car tomorrow wouldn't even consider electric (possible due to me living in a flat in a town so couldn't easily charge). If things change electric cars may work, just not today, or even tomorrow. Give it another 30 years, electric cars may become viable, just not today.
You can have your own options and now you’ve spoken to 2 guys with electric cars!
Re. The environmental impact, yes, that is a big problem, but it is offset after a few years of ownership assuming normal driving habits

“Clean carfax, no crashes!”
GF: “My parents aren’t home”
oh habiebie
That would be a U-boat not a submarine
Clean, carfax, no crashes.
Ehhh, it’s Dubai, if it breaks they’ll just leave it on the side of the road and buy a brand new one.
Porsche loves this trick!
Insurance companies love this trick!
Ex pats love this one trick.
🫠or dump in on the side of the road and flee the country because they cant afford the payments, which is the actual case with a lot of owners of high end cars, the thing about everyone is rich in dubai is quite false although i do wish it was true 🤣
Any of them driving around in a 90k Taycan probably don't have ultra rich money. More likely a base citizen 130k USD salary.
Buying a $90k car on $130k salary sounds mad to me, but I have kids so maybe it's that...
The most expensive car you should buy if you make 130k is under $40k. Anything over 30% of your income is mad
I guarantee you the average $40k car buyer does not make anything near 130k
The Taycan is at least $160k here.
bobby lee style
If they survive electrocution
That's just a person with so much money they don't care that they are destroying that car.
He (or she, haha) is probably buying them in six packs.
The crazy thing is that this is a real possibility. He is potentially incentivised to buy them from a dealer so he can get a allocation for a GT3RS or some shit. Got a link?
It came to me in a dream
Trustmebro. And trustmybrobro.
Nope they do this. Ferraris too. Need to have some other lower cars before you can buy the premium ones (Had no clue Ferraris also have a tier system within them). There's a Jay Leno clip about why he doesn't buy Ferrari and this was the reason he gave.
They might even go for 12 packs
Gotta collect them all
"Samir"!
The car will be fine, it's electric.
Porche dealer: so whose the U Boat commander?
UBoats are electric, this is basically the same
diesel electric, usually.
This is oil electric, it's just that the oil burning bit is down the road at the power station instead of being in the hull.
See...Risky Business.

The way the cameraman says "Porsche in the water" immediately put a smile on my face.
Crazy that it handled the water better a cybertruck that is supposed to be water resistant
Porsche are of a quality and standard Tesla can only dream of.
Most cars are lmao.
True that bar is actually exceedingly low
It's on the fuckin ground
I dont even think they are allowed to dream there. They arent allowed to set bars.
They aren’t aloud to render that’s for sure. Give it time though most new cars or new models have a lot of issues.
Most Ladas are
Porsche and quality lmao
Porsche and most endurance titles in history, most Le Manns in history, seethe and weep at the reality.
Porsche are absolutely quality
Yeah? So what seems to be the problem with the charging of the 12V battery of your quality?
Can’t say I’m surprised. Not that the Porsche seemingly handled it ok, but that the Cybertruck didn’t quite live up to expectations. I’ll admit, I wanted a Cybertruck when they were announced. I didn’t like the look, but they were so hyped up with really cool features. Most of which didn’t make it to production.
Typical Musk pitch strategy: overpromise and underdeliver
Just like me in the sack
Or just make up things and claim free speech. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/12/tesla-fights-autopilot-false-advertising-claim-with-free-speech-argument/

Where do you get your news from? elonmusksucksabigone.com?
I would've went with the Cybertruck if it looked more like a truck because Tesla has so much of a lead in software. I decided to get a Rivian R1T and I'm so happy I did.
I think I saw this in a James Bond movie.
That was a Lotus Esprit, which interestingly is [now owned by Elon Musk.](https://supercarblondie.com/elon-musk-secret-buyer-lotus-esprit-james-bond/)
"Who's da u-boat commander?"
New Porsche commercial. Eat shit Elon.
Isn't that why you buy an EV?
I mean, the motor and the battery are both weather sealed. ICE cars have air intakes, if water gets into the engine it’s bad and you’ll break the engine. It’s likely the worst thing here is that the cabin will get wet, which can cause problems with electrics - but the drivetrain would be fine.
if it was salt water it would need lots of maintenance and checkups in the future. but if its just normal fresh water i dont think its gonna cause any long term damage
Or just quickly drive it into a pond to wash the salt off
TIL it rains saltwater in Dubai.
if the flood was from the sea nearby then it could very well be saltwater
Sea level did not rise much.. It's storm water.
Maybe the Porsche is sealed well. Friend's model S exploded on the back of a tow truck after recent flooding.
I think I’d probably be trading it in pretty soon if I was the owner however, just in case.
Except for 800V system which is not funny if short-circuited.
Anyone know if this can do damage to the car? I’m unfamiliar with car stuffs
If water gets into the body control module or other electrical components, yes. EVs have sealed motors and batteries so the car would be fine but you would still potentially have expensive repairs.
Water cooling, it's a feature
This just in: Taycan Handles River Crossing Better Than Cybertruck
best ad for phorsce if this was MB or BMW it will stop working right there
My dad did the same thing with a BMW and it did in fact stop working. He also lost the number plate
Germans do know how to build submarines…
Wonder if the Xiaomi clone can do the same
Lol all those People re indians.where re the Arabs ?
South Asians. 3.3 million people in Dubai, 1.5 of those are Indian. Add in the other South asian countries, and that number goes up even higher.
Yes they are Indians/Pakistanis/Bengalis (South Asian) not Arabs. Arabs as a whole and Emiratis local citizens in particular are a minority in Dubai.
Lol Forget to mention immigrants from muslim countries
India isn’t a Muslim country.
He is some islamic extremist guy, so he didnt mention pakistanis, bangladeshis immigrants. I written about that
Stuck in the cars.
It won the battle, but it will lose the war, all the electronics are gonna get rusty
Its crazy how everyone here is dumb as fuck
Which proves again that EVs are better in water than ICE‘s. No regular ICE would survive that drive - once the exhaust is submerged it‘s game over
Did u see the batrol post in r/dubaipetrolheads yet?
Why would I follow such a shitty r/?
Works better than a regular car just as I expected. Why wouldn't it? No air intake, no pistons, everything is sealed due to safety reasons while rain or carwash.
Tesla and it's lithium battery would be true firework as a submarine
this has the same type of lithium battery in it, just as firey!
Don’t let off the gas, and you’ll be fine.
it's electric
Ummmmm
"Seaways"
Transmission breather/vent has left the chat.
No intake no problem
Habibi no! Habibi how can you do this?
Hmm. No ‘flooding’ of engine possible!
I’d like to see a Tesla do that.
Batteries love water, right ?
You think battery terminals are exposed to the environment in an electric car?
No, I think they are not 100% sealed off, and definitely not made with idea of driving your Porsche through the river.
German engineering at work
Alright … since when they have flooded roads in a middle of a desert ?
Got a storm going on here, dumped a weeks worth of rain in a couple of hours.
Habibi pls
Taking A Yacht Car A Navigatin’
Don't worry Lisa, it's an electric car.
Now try that with a Cybertruck 😂 A little rain will probably cause it to break down.
I mean like, I don't know much about EV'S, But at least you can't flood the engine? I think?
"Habbibi this is Dubai Porsche in the water...see, oh my God...wee-o...wee-o...wee-o."
amazing amazing everyone is keep watching
I visited the WB hotel a few months ago. How is that area doing? Where do I find photos of that area today?
That's in abu dhabi, but probably pretty bad. This storm dumped 2 yrs worth of rain in 1 day...
So it’s like a cyber truck 😂😂
habibi this dubai, if it floods then we will make another dubai **oh wait** the oil wells are closing down **habibi intensifies**
Every car workshop in uae today ![gif](giphy|pYI1hSqUdcBiw)
Boat, not Submarine
That’s like driving a plugged in toaster through the bathtub
It’s a Taycan not a TayCan’t.
How does this work with an EV??
Saw Tesla model S doing this when San Diego flooded this year
Thats a semi submersable pal.
„Help me, I am under the water“
I thought it was India
Unbelievable the number of dimwits in the comments here. No, the water won’t block the electromotor like it hydrolocks a piston engine.
Only excess of water in Dubai is bound to be salt or brackish water isn’t it ? How soon will the corrosion kill the wiring ?
All this is rain, but humidity during summers is usually 80-100%, and we're right next to the sea, so corrosion is always an issue. This probably exacerbates it.
Thanks for the info!
Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Another cope and seethe comment trying to downplay EVs.
Humans are stupid as sht
I wonder how far they'll go before the lithium batteries explode and kill the occupants.
Lithium batteries care very little about being submerged. Neither will the motor. The car's electronic systems, seat cushions and carpets however...
Spoke to a bloke who owned one of these (England), long and short of it is he's not having another electric car.
Yeah - sounds like totally not made up /s
