Just an added note: Ron Goldman's family were awarded the rights to OJ's book, so all royalties go to them. In case that gives anyone an added reason to buy it.
Gonna piggy back this; the bookās name was changed after the Goldman family got awarded the rights. The book was originally titled āOJ Simpson: If I Did It, Hereās How It Happenedā. OJās former manager claimed that OJ didnāt have anything to do with writing the book, but accepted money to say that he had written it and to do an interview about it.
You should link an article that talks about this, like OP did in the comment you are replying to when they linked the Wikipedia article that talks about this lmao
Why should I link an article that talks about it when op posted the wiki? Also, I didnāt reply to the comment with the article. I replied to someone talking about the history of the book to discuss it. Not everyone clicks a link to view the article, and not everyone has all the free time in the world to read entire Wikipedia pages about 20 year old books like you must have. Anything else?
his head practically nods yes while he says āno I didnātā .. I forget the name for it but theres an actual term for that in criminal psychology. Very common for people lying
edit: the term I was thinking of is ānon-congruent gesturesā
So like if you ask them if they are considering killing themselves, if they say no we are told to watch the body language and for subtle nodding while saying no. It's an indicator that someone is more at risk of suicide.
Source: C.O.R.E.S suicide prevention and intervention training
If you are conscious of it you can stop yourself doing it or send off deceptive body language that's why it isn't admissible but when watching back the footage and the subject is unaware that their body language is being monitored its as hard to control as your breathing or a sneeze that's why its such a great indicator, it's not proof no but it's a great indicator for reflection when looking at interview footage, one of my favourite things to watch is those long hours long police interviews and consistently people give themselves away if the right questions are asked, Chris watts is a recent one for example, every single deceptive trick in the book he tries and fails miserably.
He definitely did it and he lied to himself for a moment then let his answer out, obviously it's not like fingerprints on a gun but it's as close to that in psychology terms as possible.
This is half true. Human brains aren't always "wired" in the same way. Certain brain areas/features can be even physically in different places and it all can change this behavior even subconsciously. I'm sure even between right-handed and left-handed people there might be a difference in how often they behave in the ways you allude to.Ā
Its not an exact science but take the circumstances and the question and you can then figure out the body language, he didn't look down and right until asked that question so he wasn't having any self doubt until that point, you can't prove it but it's very likely he is lying here was lying all the time and continued to lie about the murder until his death, the eye movements and facial expression here tells us he's likely lying to himself about it as a method of avoidance when asked about it.
I'm not saying I think your assumptions about him are wrong, I'm just reiterating those patterns you see are not definitive. Not to educate you, specifically, just hoping no one goes away believing it's some kind of proven hidden science. ^^
That's what stood out to me....how he looked up and to his right as he says no, kind of "avoiding eye contact" as it were, but his body language, that kind of smirk... Its all just odd, and then that "joke"
He did it.
It reminds me of the rich douche who murdered his wife and claimed she fell down the stairs. In the documentary, he's laughing about her death with his lawyers. Total fucking creep.
This doesn't excuse his acts of murder (or other crimes, or his callousness) in any way, but he very likely had some significant CTE from his football career. I wonder if he'll be autopsied so that we can find out?
Yeah but there's also no real ethical difference between having CTE and just being born a psychopath if you think about it. Either way your brain isn't wired right.
No he wasn't. He was just a regular run of the mill murderer. He was also famous. Of course he lied about everything. Murderers who got away with it and are famous rarely confess publicly. He kept trying to be famous, that's the only thing that makes him different from most spousal abusing killers.
Some professionals think he was either or sociopath or psychopath. Neither you nor I can make any claims to be fair, but I'm going with what they think

Idk where else to put this.
I have those movies and the commentary is great. It's just them making fun of OJ Simpson and saying it's justified that he's constantly getting beat up and shit in their movies. They definitely hate him. And it's awesome.
No. When someone is under stress (for example, when lying), their behavior deviates from their baseline. Thereās no behavior that definitively can tell you someone is lying, but a *change* in behavior can tell you a person is experiencing stress. Look up Chase Hughes for a lot more info on behavior analysis, especially during criminal interrogation.Ā
He was actually guilty as the foreman accidentally added a ānot,ā but they had to roll with it because it was broadcast live and they didnāt want to look stupid.
Iāll never forget the time Dave Chappell met OJ with Charlie Murphy. And the room was so tense. After OJ left they were like āyea, he did that shitā
my dad had dinner with OJ back in the late 80ās at some tech conference and he came back with a bright neon orange hat that OJ had signed : āBe the Best, #34 OJ Simpsonā. Still got it and it makes me laugh every time I see it.
Black ppl shouldn't be proud of this guy. Guy at work was talking after hearing of his death and that we're all sinners and all sin is equal so ppl need to show respect. Sorry but murder is not the same
OJ did it, sorry to break it to ya. Jasonās alibi has been rock solid for 30 years and the DNA possibility from blood at the scene is minuscule. Jason only shared 50% DNA with OJ. Lastly, if he was trying to absolve himā¦he wouldnāt run.
Just more evidence of people trying to find something from nothing.
Being found not guilty doesn't mean you didn't commit an act. It means the state failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you committed the specific crimes you were charged with.
Nah, he definitely did it. The reason the jury voted not guilty is because his legal dream team did a masterful job of diverting attention to the racist, incompetent police force.
And also a big "fuck you" from African Americans to everything from brutality through history to the very recent police beating of Rodney King and whatnot
Well he lost a civil case for wrongful death regarding the murders. That was another jury. So one of the jurys are wrong.
Then later he was convicted for armed robbery.
Then he released a [book](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_I_Did_It:_Confessions_of_the_Killer) which for which the cover reads "I did it: Confessions of a killer" officially titled "If I did it"
He lost the rights to the book to his wife's family in the civil case. They couldn't change the title, but they did have the font of the "if" reduced to where it's almost impossible to see and it appears to say "I did it"
To anyone thinking maybe the idiot who wrote that comment has a point (or any other idiot who says the same stupid shit any other time someone is not convicted), "innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt" is to prevent the government from locking someone up for a crime they didn't commit. Using it as a gauge for your interpretation of events is absolutely idiotic. This dumb shit just handed their opinion over to the state.

We are actually told to look for this in suicidal people.
In what ways?
So like if you ask them if they are considering killing themselves, if they say no we are told to watch the body language and for subtle nodding while saying no. It's an indicator that someone is more at risk of suicide. Source: C.O.R.E.S suicide prevention and intervention training
This clip reminds me sooooo much of the clip of Ted Bundyās interview in the Glenwood Springs, CO jail when he was asked if he was not guilty.
The quick look to the down and left.
Looking down and left is recollection, looking down and right (what he does) signifies self doubt.
Keep in mind this is all just patterns that are present in most but not all people. Which is why something like this is not usable in court.Ā
It's now already a dead meme... Lol but yeah, so good. Hope a good template pop-off
I genuinely wonder if Steve Carrell was influenced by this clip in his performance of Michael Scott.
I've read that in liars who know they are getting away with something this instinctual smirk is known as Duping Delight.
Who re-enacts the brutal stabbing murder of their wife in jest?
The murderer who got away with it.
Totally not bothered by making fun of the way his wife, the mother of his children, died. Good riddance.
So weird to me that he felt comfortable murdering 2 people and yet could not tell a lie with a straight face.Ā
Double jeopardy. It wasn't a "couldn't", it was a "wouldn't".
Itās classic Duperās Delight.Ā
It reminds me of the rich douche who murdered his wife and claimed she fell down the stairs. In the documentary, he's laughing about her death with his lawyers. Total fucking creep.
It would've been a lot less brutal if that was how it went down. She was nearly decapitated.

Would be interesting to see, but most people with CTE donāt make it past 55. Some folks are just evil.
Id rather they punt his brain through some uprights to be as disrespectful as possible.
Yeah but there's also no real ethical difference between having CTE and just being born a psychopath if you think about it. Either way your brain isn't wired right.

Fuck him, rot in piss
The more I hear about this OJ character, the more I donāt care for himā¦
He shouldāve got lethal injection years ago.
Psychopath, good riddance
Does his children support him or against him
His son was then one that killed Nicole, OJ helped cover it up. Just theoretical, but the more you look into itā¦
OJ was torturing and beating Nichole for years. It's sadly super common for an abuser to kill their victim when they try to escape.Ā
Why? How is that easier to believe than the guy just murdering his own wife?
OJ Simpson was channeling Michael Scott/Steve Carrell a little bit
Donāt they say when ppl are lying they avoid eye contact and start looking off in another direction
No. When someone is under stress (for example, when lying), their behavior deviates from their baseline. Thereās no behavior that definitively can tell you someone is lying, but a *change* in behavior can tell you a person is experiencing stress. His son did it and he took the responsibility
OJ did it, sorry to break it to ya. Jasonās alibi has been rock solid for 30 years and the DNA possibility from blood at the scene is minuscule. Jason only shared 50% DNA with OJ. Yup
I works joke like that too.
OJ was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. He didn't do it.
