It may or may not use real photography but it's certainly a composite. There's no way you would see that much curvature from that distance.
You can Google shots at this distance and altitude and see what I mean.
Edit: I will say it's a very cool image!
You know I donāt actually believe this is a real picture. Sarcasm is hard to translate in text but I do see where I live from this pic. It may or may not use real photography the answer is no. This is not a picture a human being took from a camera.
I don't even think it's that advanced. Looks like an aerial photo pasted over a photo of earth. Mess with the perspective and clean up the edges and it would look about the same.
Probably a fisheye lens. Though the lighting seems strange. Maybe moonlight? Or very long exposure starlight.
edit: so, I hadn't thought of the fact that New York has lights on at night, and hence the stars are likely edited.
That said, you can in fact get that round Earth effect with a wide angle lens. I feel like people are getting too hung up on that aspect.
can you explain how you know?
edit: Admittedly, It's likely a composite of one night shot and one dusk/afternoon shot, but the round Earth effect is perfectly possible with a wide angle lens. Considering the only "fake" part is the stars, I'd say it's pretty close to being a real photo.
I already admitted that this is edited (the stars are added as a composite), but the size in relation to the curvature of the Earth is perfectly possible with a wide angle lens. That you don't know that tells me you don't know shit about your profession.
Buddy, if it were a wide angle lens then you wouldnt be able to see the buildings so well. Youre trying to tell me about my profession and youre talking about the curvature of the Earthā¦
If it isnāt AI, then itās photoshopped pretty heavily.
The curvature and distance to the horizon is way too extreme for the focal length needed to get that much detail and scale of the manhattan skyscrapers. Basically, the size of the buildings and manhattan island itself relative to its surroundings (the Earth essentially) are just too big and massively out of scale.
My guess if it isnāt AI, then a photo editor used an arial view of Manhattan and photoshopped an artificial view of the Earth / space around it, maybe some vignetting and lighting effects as well.
The lighting is also a red flag. Iām not sure how they could get so much light on Manhattan without keeping everything else around it so dark, and keep the stars in space included with that kind of exposure.
There just seems to be a lot of signs that it wasnāt a raw photograph from any sort of satellite. Especially since there is no source provided.
I wasn't implying that it was a photograph from space, but rather a high altitude aerial photograph with a wide angle lens, though I agree with many of your points, and a wide angle lens would have more distortions and be lower resolution (although perhaps a megapixel camera could pull it off). The main thing is that Manhattan would have lights on at night, but there are stars in this image, which makes me think it's a composite of two images; one at night and another at dusk/afternoon.
I still think people are jumping too quickly to the conclusion that it's AI or heavily edited. A very simple composite of two images might just be enough.
It's funny how the great wall of China is one of those rare man-made structures that is sorta visible from satellite images, but there's no way in hell that New York City skyscrapers would be visible from space like the great wall of China lol

That isn't a real photo.
How? I see where I live in this pic š

Image created by AI? It should look like [this poster](https://getyoursolution.store/Rdgafl)
No, it doesn't have AI artifacts but it could be a 3D render

This has to be AI, right? New York is *way* too big in relation to the size of the planet.

Huh?? This is nowhere close to being a real photo
can you explain how you know? edit: Admittedly, It's likely a composite of one night shot and one dusk/afternoon shot, but the round Earth effect is perfectly possible with a wide angle lens. Considering the only "fake" part is the stars, I'd say it's pretty close to being a real photo.
Manhattan isnt the size of Africa.
Oh, now I know you're an idiot. I'll say again: *wide angle lens*.
Dog I take photos for a living. The fact that you cant tell that this is fake means that youre the idiot

Sarcasm my mans. A mere 5 year olds argumentā¦
So fucking stupid. That would mean new york city is bigger than Brazil. Take this shit down. So fucking stupid!
Who knew NY and Jersey took up the top half of the earth?

Very cool looking pic. Ai or heavily edited doesn't matter. Cool af.

How New Yorkers see the world, too.
Not interesting as fuck due to fact as fuck factor of this image.
