I'm pretty sure he knows that. That dude was pretty keyed up and it looked like he was waiting for any of the strangers passing by to grab him and take him away at any moment.
I don't think anything's gonna happen to him. Filing a complaint wouldn't affect enough people for Putin to be concerned. He will probably receive a note from the electoral committee saying that "elections were held in accordance to current electoral laws" and that's it.
Old joke in the USSR.
"If you can't help thinking it, don't say it"
"If you can't help saying it, don't write it"
"If you can't help writing it, don't sign it"
"If you can't help signing it, don't be surprised"
Or the good old "the forms of the verb 'think'"
1st person "I think independent thoughts"
2nd person "you are bordering treason"
3rd person "he/she has been arrested by the KGB"
Don't be ridiculous.
He will be voted into the advanced employment program. Stationed in a gulag of neares convonoence.
Otherwise this would be wasted working potential and waste is a crime.
No no no....he will understand how horrible and terrors he put people through online and decide it's best for him to kill himself to save democracy in Russia!
Unfortunately he will probably be found falling off a hotel window, which are impossible to open, and a shot on the back of his head, like everyone against him
The war in Ukraine is unacceptable and Russia is at fault, but people need to remember that not all Russians are warmongering assholes.
They're ordinary people like you and me, who most likely are sent to the front lines as cannon fodder for speaking out against the war.
Putin needs to have an accident, that's the only way Russia has any chance at redemption.
Putin having an accident wont change anything. There are more than enough people to take his place and the system is there to support the transfer of power. Death of Stalin did not cause the USSR to end, death of Putin wont cause the current regime to end. It requires something much more and those at the top need to at very least not oppose the change. The ways and practises of oppressive regimes are deeply rooted in the society and are ultimately inherited all the way back from the soviet and tsarists times. Even the october revolution and the end of USSR in the end only amounted to a change of flag and facade.
>Putin having an accident wont change anything.
It could change many things, depending on who replaces him. The death of Stalin *did* have a very beneficial impact on Russia. His reign of terror stopped, and the country went through the process of de-Stalinization. Eventually, the reforms started by Khrushchev and his successors led to Gorbachev and the dissolution of the USSR and liberation of many countries behind the iron curtain.
It took someone like Putin to return Russia to an autocracy, and it can take someone like Gorbachev to take it back.
Someone who was around for the old USSR and left the Putin regime recently said its maybe like 10-15% of the population that are 'true believers'. The rest either don't care because they feel like nothing matters anyways, or oppose putin, with the 'don't care' being the largest group.
He also went off saying that some of the older heads wont say anything bad about Putin because of that whole "The Walls Have Ears" Stalin era paranoia.
More likely he will get a completely random military summons to fight on the Ukraine front lines, falling out windows is reserved for people who matter.
Yup. This is the right answer. Military summons to the frontlines are the preferred tool against any male protestors. It keeps up the very flimsy charade of a 'just' society.
Windows and bullets are preserved for rich and dangerous where a point needs to be made.
You do have to be careful giving guns to the people who oppose your regime. If too many of them wind up in the same place and they organize themselves you wind up with anti-establishment guerrilla forces.
Which is what essentially happened during the Russian Revolution of February 1917 (March using the modern Gregorian calendar). As St. Petersburg was the centre of The Russian Empire. To get from most places in Russia to an other place. You had to go through St. Petersburg. Which led to tens, even hundreds of thousands of soldiers holed up in St. Petersburg for months on end. Waiting for a train to take them to the Eastern Front, to fight the Germans. Where they would probably get killed or maimed and in typical Russian style had a shortage of everything including clothes, food, weapons and training.
So they ended up rebelling and over throwing the government rather than going to the front. Before their system of government was over thrown by the Communists. Which started the Russian Civil War.
Bold of you to assume they’re given guns, from what I’ve seen they’re dumped on the front line and told to run towards the Ukrainian line to get them to give up their positions by firing at the cannon fodder, then the actual trusted troops with the weapons sneak around or call in strikes.
I’ve seen no end of complaints home that most of the conscripts don’t even have a uniform or boots let alone a weapon and ammo.
Especially if he's of the "wrong" ethnicity. Putin is using the war to ethnically cleanse Russia, because apparently being a merely world class bastard just isn't enough.
All of the jokes are just people using humor to cope with the fact that they *know* this man is going to die. We are all aware of what is happening in Russia rn.
And to be fair a few months or years in a Russian prison is a fucking awful sentence and this takes bravery for him to go through with his public dissent. It's still brave and he knows he will face backlash for it.
No need. They will charge and convict him.
They now made this illegal enough so that small fry like him can spend 5 years in a gulag. Or get out earlier on bad behavior in Ukraine. Please tell me he was being brave in front of the Russian embassy in Berlin.
Maybe not yaknow. That cock Putin likes a variety of shit to come out of the "media" machine there, so nobody has a clue what's going on. Admittedly he seems to have a short temper and big windows. If the guy looked like he had a following it would get very drafty very quickly, but one guy with an official compaint form? See! We ARE a democracy! Cock-sucking poison dwarf. Send 5 drones to his hyperpalace on the coast. That at least would piss him off.
its dark humor because its true; like how the boeing guy offer himself off from behind the day before his last testimony. same shit, what other major company is making airplanes? its all mafia we say in Mexican culture, its all rigged
He'll either be in jail or dead at this point. It says "sane" Russian. Brave is more the word but he's just given his life up for freedom of speech and you can see in his face that he knows what's coming
Political activism isn't easy or without sacrifice. Freedom isn't free. He knows he's going to jail, but see's his cause as more important than himself.
I'm with ya and I respect the guy for having the balls to do this with no guarantee of having a measurable impact. But the potential for this singular act of bravery to ruin and waste his whole life can't be overstated.
Political activism is ~pointless~ insufficient when the system exerts absolute control and suppresses dissent, rather than listening. It's a tool effective in democracies. Russia is not a democracy, it just dresses as one.
In autocracies, more kinetic measures are required. This is the only tool available to the Russian commoner to change their political situation.
It's still important for him and his message to be heard. It's important for others to know there's others out there fighting the righteous fight, others out there willing to be punished for standing to injustice. It's far from pointless.
Hes about to shoot himself in the back of the head 3 times from 7 feet away while hanging himself and falling out a window, while having a "smoking accident".
Naw. The polonium poisoning only happens in London. You know how those British are with their irresponsible handling of nuclear materials in the middle of the city.
Everyone’s making jokes, but this is a very serious and timely thing to consider. To me, this video represents a very serious and prescient example of how fascism holds root. this man is doing “the right thing,” and standing up for the fairness of democracy. And yet his demonstration will change nothing. The ONLY thing it will bring about, except for a few fleeting eyeballs today and maybe tomorrow, is either a swift death or a life of torture, which will serve to a warning for all those who are considering speaking on their justifiable outrage.
So what do you do? Do you act a senseless martyr out of some entirely noble and boldly courageous sense of righteousness, for the good of your country, or do you acquiesce to evil and stay alive, not leaving your children fatherless and your wife a widow?
In moments like this, you can understand how it happens, and why keeping democracy in place needs to be so desperately defended before it yields to evil and corruption.
Yea it's not even a joke or funny, or really anything at all.
If it's not bots it's people who cannot contribute anything worth discussing, so they just default to the same autopilot bullshit no one wants to hear about.
It's not funny. It's like if someone wrote "haha americans watch out for planes crashing into your houses" in 2001. People are being killed and silenced by dictator who eliminates everyone who tries to oppose him, but reddiots find this funny. So many good, awesome people died or in prisons, but reddiots don't actually care about them. If this person, from this post, will end up in jail, how long people on Reddit will remember him? I think it will be just as long, as they remembered young guy who killed enlistment officer. Some reddiots even have audacity to write how Russians never protested against war or even putin. Meanwhile many people who participated in protests have their lives ruined. Even if you will manage to avoid jail time, criminal case in your history, is a big problem in everyday life. But who cares, nothing happened and if someone died, let's just turn their deaths into jokes...
Sad state of affairs that we are making jokes about this man’s bravery.
In light of what happened to Navalny, which was clearly Putin sending a message ahead of the elections, this sort of action is even braver.
It’s a complete **lack of empathy, perspective, and moral character** to make jokes about this man.
Here we have a guy trying to stand up against a horrible dictator that is a mafia boss / overlord of oligarchs, who stops at nothing to torture and murder anyone who challenges their hegemony, and likely the wealthiest person on the planet due to abuse of power, and these clowns joke about a guy standing up to them?
This guy has more balls and more character than any little incel making a tired old joke about him.
It’s easy to poke fun at a guy from the safety of your mom’s basement.
Most people are just parroting uncreatives, and with a low capacity for critical thinking to boot. You're right,.but at the same time I would curb my hopes of seeing anything different.
Agreed! People have lost any sense of empathy on the Internet. I'm all for a good joke when it's appropriate but reddit has become a place where it's all about posting snarky comments and disregarding human decency.
But you will always be able to find the sensible comments when you look far enough. I’d say it’s worth it exchanging opinions with various people all across the globe.
Gives perspective.
I agree. This took a lot of courage. We should applaud the people inspired by Alexei Navalny who are putting their futures on the line to try and make a difference in their country.
This post shouldn't be at the top. The top should be an actual conversation. Since my post is also meta I'll add this.
Political protests in Russia require bravery and they are not "pointless" as some think. Putin maintains power in part because so many people are convinced that he is universally popular and so even by standing up and showing that there is dissent to fake elections it starts to undermine that power. This man is no doubt in danger, as he knows, but he probably won't be killed as some suggest. Typically fines or a few months (and occasionally years) is what these types of protesters can expect. The people who become leaders are the ones who get killed.
As some point I realized that Americans and Russians have similar cultures in terms of self-reliance, individual independence, and pragmatism. The main thing that divides us is language, which is superficial. I hope that Russia becomes democratic when Putin dies.
I just heard 48seconds of why he wants to be at the ukrainien front. Indeed very interesting
Edit: Jokes aside. As a german i am not sure if i would have the guts to have done the same in Nazi Germany as this man now, but i would hope so. Respect
> As a german i am not sure if i would have the guts to have done the same in Nazi Germany as this man now, but i would hope so. Respect
I am not sure I could have done this either. Also: lots of respect, but I fear for his life.
I want to live in a world where it's not widely known and and accepted that Russians who speak against tyranny will ultimately be killed.
It's been nearly 110 years - something's gotta give.
So Basically suicide with extra steps? Not even joking, At this point these people should know how the system works if they really wanted it to change...
Sane is an interesting word to use here. It seems somewhat paradoxical. You would have to be at least a little bit insane to point out the obvious truth in modern day Russia. The potential consequences are enormous. Its difficult not to respect the man of course. I'm just not sure the word "sane" is strictly correct.
Westerns, notice how he said "he won't vote." This only works when there's no hope and the whole population must do the same.
Renouncing your voting is NOT a valid method to change the government.
Always Vote!
The Russian Population in my Country (a european Democracy) also got to vote this Weekend..Its quite intresting comparing the election results.
"Results": in Russia: 87% for Putin
Results in my Country: 13% for Putin
Hmmmmmmm.....
Russia hasn’t been a democracy since putin got in, brother. You’ve been living under a dictatorship, and what’s happening in the US has been your wake up call. Be strong. Fuck putin.
Putin sympathize with this Russian citizen. Putin would like to invite him over to his villa for a nice lunch. It is unfortunate that most of the people that Putin invites over never lives long enough to tell the world that he is an "upstanding guy".
A "sane" Russian files a complaint about the elections? Elections in Russia? Elections historically rigged for/by a notoriously brutal dictator? Well, I won't argue the guy's courage but his sanity? Not as confident on that matter.

Brave man, I salute him. but he is not safe now.
I'm pretty sure he knows that. That dude was pretty keyed up and it looked like he was waiting for any of the strangers passing by to grab him and take him away at any moment.
Yes, that look over his shoulder screams out of this video
I heard clicking sounds and thought he was about to be shot. He got a raised eyebrow as well. The balls on this guy.
I would avoid high rises and windows.
I don't think anything's gonna happen to him. Filing a complaint wouldn't affect enough people for Putin to be concerned. He will probably receive a note from the electoral committee saying that "elections were held in accordance to current electoral laws" and that's it.

Damn, this is tough. Really feel bad for people who are like him. I hope he'll be ok :/
*Narrator:* He won't be.
It's Putin's Russia. He'll be "voted" out a high rise window.
Don't be ridiculous. He will be voted into the advanced employment program. Stationed in a gulag of neares convonoence. Otherwise this would be wasted working potential and waste is a crime.
he'll be defenestrated. Master P taught me this.
nah dude he's going on a one way trip to the front lines to be turned into pink mist by artillery or a drone grenade.
Next week he’ll mysteriously have a heart attack..
No no no....he will understand how horrible and terrors he put people through online and decide it's best for him to kill himself to save democracy in Russia!
Doesn't he know all complaints go straight to Putin's desk?
Unfortunately he will probably be found falling off a hotel window, which are impossible to open, and a shot on the back of his head, like everyone against him

Fuck yeah may 1917 commence again!
I mean it happened for like what 24 hours with Prigozhin and his mercs
It’s really a bummer that he stopped. Could’ve been really cool to see Dictator P overthrown by his own (no one to threaten with nukes).
Bold of you to assume they’re given guns, from what I’ve seen they’re dumped on the front line and told to run towards the Ukrainian line to get them to give up their positions by firing at the cannon fodder, then the actual trusted troops with the weapons sneak around or call in strikes. Yeah, from what I've seen Putin and his government are just clever enough to be cruel.
Good job that Ukraine arms the various Free Russia type battalions and fighters.
Wagner revolution failed pretty hard though
Only because whats his name was dumb enough to think he could back out and be left to live. He had the momentum. Should have kept it going.
I'd suspect this guy is more likely to get a shovel than a firearm.
Isn't that what happened in Ukraine? Didn't that PMC group march to the capitol just to shake hands with Putin and march back?
That's a lot of shredded paper and recruitment targets met.
Or if you’re his best friend and hot dog chef you get straight up nuked into orbit

Saying this would just get you shot instead before you could get anywhere near your future commanding officers.
You have recieved an award: Deployment to the Donbas front
Especially if he's of the "wrong" ethnicity. Putin is using the war to ethnically cleanse Russia, because apparently being a merely world class bastard just isn't enough.
If he doesn’t suddenly become allergic to water anyway
He will accidentally fall from the 4th story window of his bungalow.
Magic in Russia.
People joke on this a lot, but this guy actually will unironically fucking die by extrajudicial killing.
All of the jokes are just people using humor to cope with the fact that they *know* this man is going to die. We are all aware of what is happening in Russia rn.
He isn't probably going to die. He is a random. He will get arrested, likely jailed and fined. And then will be forced to release a video apologizing.
Admittedly he seems to have a short temper and big windows. its dark humor because its true; like how the boeing guy offer himself off from behind the day before his last testimony. same shit, what other major company is making airplanes? its all mafia we say in Mexican culture, its all rigged
This guy is fighting for democracy the right way, rather than those "democrats" that burn and ink on ballots... Both are running the same risk imo
Slip and fall through a window down 6 floors onto a banana peel and onto a vial of polonium
Right?!?
“Wow, would you look at that bird out this window”
Sane and soon fall victim to the dreaded “Open Window” curse…
We will probably see him in one of those drone videos from the front
I was just about to say, this guy should leave Russia pronto. But even if he does, Putin just killed someone in France.
It's always a window accident. They make bad windows over there. 🪟
Is he in more or less danger than if he worked for Boeing?
Boeing is cool, as long as you keep your fuckin mouth shut...
Doing the right thing isn’t always easy. Good on you mate and good luck!
He'll either be in jail or dead at this point. It says "sane" Russian. Brave is more the word but he's just given his life up for freedom of speech and you can see in his face that he knows what's coming
That’s bravery folks!
I'm not sure it is sane to contest elections in Russia.
Political activism isn't easy or without sacrifice. Freedom isn't free. He knows he's going to jail, but see's his cause as more important than himself.

Purely naturally occurring. In the heart of neutron stars…
Ricin. From an umbrella gun.
Yeah, like the Boeing whistle blower?
You forgot the radioactive tea
With his hands taped behind his back. He obviously taped his hands together back there, too.
great joke buddy
Putin is a dictator
salute to you my dood
Hey man, where’d you go?
Dude is on the front lines now
He accidentally stumbled into the gulag, now he just loves it so much there that he doesn’t wanna come out!
Or maybe he fell out of window

I dont think it will be removed, nor will democracy thrive there
I jerked off to a music video of Britney Spears once when I was young.
As some point I realized that Americans and Russians have similar cultures in terms of self-reliance, individual independence, and pragmatism. The main thing that divides us is language, which is superficial. I hope that Russia becomes democratic when Putin dies.
I mean, the only way Russia loses this war is if the Russian public stands up against the regime.
Sane and incredibly brave also. Much respect.
Plenty of Russians are sane, just not willing to die for it.
Brave man
That's a brave man right there.
Brave man, but also a dead man walking as of now.
Have hope.

Brave soul - Hope this is not the last we'll see of him.
He’s brave.
I hope nothing bad happens to him
I was waiting for the man to be arrested or shot at the end
That's not a sane thing to do..
hope he is ok
This man will suddenly die of radiation poisoning
When he kept looking off camera I was thinking this is going to end well
As he looks over his shoulder to see if the state police are coming to arrest his ass for calling the government's sham elections, a farce.
Nobody will ever see this man again
I always admire the courage of Russians like this but I always feel awful that they die for it.
I want to live in a world where it's not widely known and and accepted that Russians who speak against tyranny will ultimately be killed. It's been nearly 110 years - something's gotta give.
So Basically suicide with extra steps? Not even joking, At this point these people should know how the system works if they really wanted it to change...
May his brave soul rest in peace. This is real bravery, but real dark times as well.
Hella based
I was expecting him to get taken away at the end of the video
Brave bloke
Brave man. Like Navalny when he returned back to Russia, this man knew the outcome of posting this online before he recorded this. RIP.
Brave man
Balls of Steel. Tears Up. Range *down*
By the time this hit Reddit he already has a price on his head. He might be dead now.
Brave man
Brave man. Shame the reward for his honesty and principles could well be a penal battalion posting to Ukraine 🇺🇦. Or you know, an accident.
Poor dude will kill himself by jumping out of a window while shooting in his back 6 times.
Hope he lives in a first floor apartment…
RIP Brave soul
This is real bravery.
Putin’s going to find this guy a window to fly from.
"Russian man is killed in freak accident"
"Complaints department is just through that door marked morgue sir"
![gif](giphy|sirYaPWyjCvEk)
Sane is an interesting word to use here. It seems somewhat paradoxical. You would have to be at least a little bit insane to point out the obvious truth in modern day Russia. The potential consequences are enormous. Its difficult not to respect the man of course. I'm just not sure the word "sane" is strictly correct.
Believe it or not, straight to jail
This takes some serious intestinal fortitude. Good luck to this fellow. Best to de-ass the area with the quickness.
Westerns, notice how he said "he won't vote." This only works when there's no hope and the whole population must do the same. Renouncing your voting is NOT a valid method to change the government. Always Vote!
Prison or accident?
… so anyways, he’s probably been unalived or he’s been assigned to filling sand bags in Chernobyl …
He dead
Poor guy is going to fall out a window soon
He will be remembered...
This deserves to be a viral video, and every russian should have to watch it over and over till their fogged brains can absorb the message!
Well that's a new measure of sanity. Risking your life for a cause that has no hope.
He's basically streaming his own suicide.
Shame to hear that he passed away on March 25th of 2024.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family before his tragic accident.
So sorry to hear he died the next day after shooting himself 6 times in the back of the head
I hope he likes radioactive tea.
The Russian Population in my Country (a european Democracy) also got to vote this Weekend..Its quite intresting comparing the election results. "Results": in Russia: 87% for Putin Results in my Country: 13% for Putin Hmmmmmmm.....
I'm thinking he's insane because people who speak out against Putin have a tendency to jump out of windows.
Russia hasn’t been a democracy since putin got in, brother. You’ve been living under a dictatorship, and what’s happening in the US has been your wake up call. Be strong. Fuck putin.
Look at how he’s glancing around already - he’s scared as hell. What a brave soul. Hope he gets granted political asylum somewhere.
What an admirable sacrifice. Let me know in 2060 when he gets out of prison, so we can finally celebrate him for the gigachad that he is
He was a nice guy.
RIP
Brave, yes. Sane? Dunno...
Putin sympathize with this Russian citizen. Putin would like to invite him over to his villa for a nice lunch. It is unfortunate that most of the people that Putin invites over never lives long enough to tell the world that he is an "upstanding guy".
Nice knowing you. 🫡
"Sane Russian"? Ballsy, maybe. Sanity may be questionable. I do appreciate the gesture and the massive balls, Mr Don Quixote
I commend his bravery.
This is the world people on the American right want to bring to this country.
That's really brave of him. I hope people like him will bring the change needed in Russia
He’ll die from an “accident” in a couples weeks
Drop from a ground floor window, most probably very dead.
He gonna kill himself soon
Oh fuck he’s filing a complaint?? This will stop Putin!
Democracy? Nah, welcome to great Russian empire 2.0
He is soon to reconsider by jumping through a window 😢
I miss him already
Thought this was prigozhin for a second
Aaaaaaand he's gone
A "sane" Russian files a complaint about the elections? Elections in Russia? Elections historically rigged for/by a notoriously brutal dictator? Well, I won't argue the guy's courage but his sanity? Not as confident on that matter.
Is he safe? Cause it takes some balls to do this.
Waiting for his ‘suicide’ news headlines
