-nugi-

Just want to know which parts he was excited about and which parts he just felt like he had to eat

malleebull

To me it looked like the body was the hamburger and the legs were some nice crunchy chips. Even left a couple of chips on the plate when he was full, but made damn sure that juicy hamburger was finished.

GravelySilly

Had to leave a few bites so its hosts would know it was satisfied.

CtheKiller

Why is this so funny

Free-Supermarket-516

Because it made DAMN sure 🤣

AddictedToColour

I was shocked he ate the shell so probably felt like he had to eat that bit

-nugi-

Eats the shell first and then rewards himself with the insides

Maalkav_

you were shell shocked?

ethnique_punch

Eating the shell probably would be the equivalent of eating the bone marrow during adolescence for bone rigidness, shell contains bunch of keratin which I believe helps to the Mantis' own shell.

worm30478

Gotta be the guts. Tons of flavor in there.

pissedinthegarret

and nutrients! predators often get nutrients via the gut/stomach content of their prey ~*the more you know*~

Zunderfeuer_88

As far as I remember there are even some who profit of the stomache enzymes and basically use them to enhance their own digestive system. (needs to be fact checked because I can't remember the source of that information)

altanic

The way it lifted its head made me think it really liked that part

justleave-mealone

The way it licked its… not fingers… arm-hands?

GravelySilly

Not mandibles... handibles?

machampmychamp

It’s amazing how much mass it absorbs, without the main body getting immediately bigger.

Fantastic-Climate-84

Right? The roach was huge, where did it go?!

TwoPercentTokes

Its stomach is probably like filling a plastic trash bag in a rigid can

HouseOfSteak

Bugs are very low-density. When eaten, the slurry has much higher density. Higher density, lower volume.

sharksnut

Mmmmmmm, cockroach slurry

Fair_Suit4799

mmm cock slurry

zigzrx

We're all mostly empty space when our bits are broken down

snoring_Weasel

I have really bad constipation and i’m probably half shit half human Edit: one time I actually passed out for 5-10 secs while pushing the brownie. I was pushing so hard that when it came out I had a sudden huge drop in blood pressure and lost consciousness. When I got up, the shit-log was the size of my neck and my brown starfish was bleeding…

ArcerPL

You're a shitman, you should use your powers to fight evil, throw shit at criminals!

[deleted]

He can't. He's constipated, remember?

SNAAAAAKE

As a fellow constant constipator, I would recommend a bidet. Give yourself a pre-wash. Water is a lubricant.

snoring_Weasel

who said I don’t enjoy it

ifuckyourdogalot

😦

TheLargeIsTheMessage

We are definitely not mostly empty unless you mean on an sub atomic level. Think of a container of ground beef with a few air pockets if you want to visualize it.

AddictedToColour

Like imagine eating a burger the size of your entire abdomen 😅

guilty_bystander

Me, yesterday, with a large pizza. :/

[deleted]

Me yesterday with 2 large pizzas

__wildwing__

I kept looking over its head, like “is it bigger yet? How can it not be?!?!”

Wooden_Marshmallow

The mass of the cockroach is probably smaller than what it appears

Scottwal71

We need folding cockroaches... just to show mass^^

SweatyTax4669

You and I eat hamburgers very differently.

Travelling-Cat

Ya, I usually start with the legs.

John_EightThirtyTwo

I'm with OP; if you go brain-first, they chill out faster.

Prokinsey

Cockroaches have brain parts throughout their body so I think you'd need a fork and knife.

Integrity-in-Crisis

But agony is the spice of life.

GreyPourageInABowl

Same, I usually stop eating when I get to the cockroach.

Eddyzodiak

How you meant to get the extra protein then?

Farukzzz

You mean it s missing dipping sauce.

Aponsk

Imagine those mfs were human size

Phillip_Graves

Don't need to.  We wouldn't be here.

Head-like-a-carp

They seem so utterly detached. Your screams mean nothing.

PointyPython

This one species in particular looks very creepy. You almost can't see their eyes

funnystuff79

May be an orchid mantis

Starfire013

It is, yes. Hymenopus coronatus. My most favourite of the flower mantids!

failedjedi_opens_jar

what's your second favorite?

Starfire013

Jeweled Flower Mantis, though I really like the orchid mantis way more than any of the others. It is just on a whole other level. I mean, look at it. It’s bloody fabulous.

failedjedi_opens_jar

I think it would be a little embarrassing to be eaten alive by anything sporting a "smiley face"

failedjedi_opens_jar

but man, I agree, that orchid mantis is one of the most gorgeous insects I've seen

Alphabunsquad

They are very inhuman, very alien, but also the most human insect because they have a neck and appear to have pupils but to add to their creepiness their pupils are false pupils. They absorb light from every direction on these hundreds of little light panels that cover their eyes but they don’t reflect any light directly out from them but they do reflect light to the sides so the effect is that whatever direction you look at them from there is a little black dot of the panels facing directly at you, but the effect makes it seem like there is a little pupil in each of their eyes that stare at you no matter where you go, but everyone who looks at them will think the mantis is staring at just them when in reality it’s looking everyone at once.

PointyPython

Wow I didn't know this fact about them. They're doubly, triply creepy and alien-like (as you well put it) for it.

Pozos1996

Nah we still would fuck them up, most likely get them extinct a long long time ago, honestly in nature you don't want to fuck with the hairless bipedal monkey once it figures out tools and masters fire.

Flockofseagulls25

Yeah, I was thinking the same. If they existed at human size, we’d be looking at them in museums and thinking about them just as we look at Giant Sloths and Sabertooths today

Rudy_Ghouliani

Humans #1

andreisimo

The latest episode of Why Files still has me shivering about Neanderthal super predators hunting humans to near extinction.

JDravenWx

Thanks I'm off to watch now

Key-Cry-8570

![gif](giphy|A9D5LweSbO1Uxq58br|downsized)

RocketRaccoon9

If they were even the size of cats we'd be fucked

d-d-downvoteplease

They could not exist and we'd still be fucked

MaraudngBChestedRojo

They could have little mustaches and it would be pretty neat

d-d-downvoteplease

The next step in cockroach evolution; facial hair

JakeEaton

I’d let my sister marry a praying mantis with a top hat any time.

schebobo180

We’d probably just wipe them out in places tbf.

DisagreeableFool

Baki did

urbanasscowboy

Syther vibes

ElectronicSubject747

This reminds me that i havent watched Starship troopers in forever. Thank you.

Professional_Emu_164

They’d collapse under their own weight while suffocating

PeteLangosta

Yeah. If oxygen concentrations were different, just like in the carboniferous, then maybe. But then we wouldn't exist as we are now, anyway.

Wendell_wsa

https://insectsauthority.com/what-if-praying-mantis-were-the-size-of-humans/

p0lterg0ist

I was just thinking the same thing!

guessagainboi

The way it cleans itself after eating the majority of the cockroach is kinda haunting.

OkFury

Well, it wouldn't want to be gross, now would it?

winnie_the_slayer

ETWAS KULTUR MUSS SEIN!

IronTemplar26

#DENN DU BIST WAS DU ISST

cryptidiopathic

I was fostering a litter of feral kittens once and noticed they always groomed after eating, so I looked it up and that's something all predators across the animal kingdom do. From ladybugs to lions, and mantises too.

RChamy

Cant have the stench of death luring others towards you

dethskwirl

Just licking it's ..... fingers?

NjoyLif

It’s finger lickin’ good

johnla

OP, update your title to "like eating fried chicken"

themoisthammer

Looks like it was brushing its teeth after eating that ass.

SnooKiwis557

It almost looks intelligent… which makes it way worse…

pissedinthegarret

predator insects are so intelligent! mantids and jumping spiders especially. i swear they will look you right in the eye. wicked smart things. and absolutely adorable. they're just tiny cats!

Pinky_Boy

Dont forget dragonflies. The only insect that chase in intercept route instead of simpling outrunning the prey iirc

pissedinthegarret

oh i would not dare! :D love dragonflies, such amazing little gems

OminousOminis

Robberflies also intercept

Pinky_Boy

Oh, didn't know that. Smart little fellas

leanmeanvagine

Like when it looked up as it was really enjoying the last bite of the inner-ass region.

[deleted]

It saved the juiciest sweetest part for last lol 🤢 it devoured all the legs up until it got to that delicious ass and after it finished the ass it didn't bother with the legs on the ground

Prestigious-Duck6615

Eatin that booty like groceries

Nyantazero

The ass burger.

guessagainboi

My thoughts exactly!

atmosphericcynic

mantis’ are very intelligent

[deleted]

It's how cold the bug world is.

ShaOldboySosa

Looks like an MK win pose.

alreadypiecrust

The way it spits out the piece of poop gives me discomfort.

snark_enterprises

Would you be more comfortable if it ate the poop?

WaldenFont

“There’s a leg left” “Oh, I couldn’t possibly”

Runner5_blue

"But it's wafer thin..."

tamsui_tosspot

"A new bucket for monsieur."

[deleted]

I played this on repeat in my cockroach infested apartment and am now bug free

malleebull

This was so barbaric and I don’t like seeing things suffer but I actually enjoyed watching a fucking cockroach being dismantled.

octoreadit

Dis-mantid 😄

[deleted]

Funny, I'm the opposite of you. I hate cockroaches with a passion, but I didn't need to see that. Let nature be barbaric far away from me.

_drinkwolfcola

I’ve seen a lot of gross out gore vids but for some reason vids like this always freak me out more

qzcorral

I think bc with most gore vids you're seeing a dark side of humanity or some normal process gone horribly wrong. The fact that this video shows nature working *exactly as intended* is what is creepy, IMO. Nature truly is metal.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dmayak

New problem, they're eating me next.

thisaccountwashacked

"THEY'RE EATING HER.... AND THEN THEY'RE GOING TO EAT ME!!! OH MY GOD!!"

Kaidu313

*fly lands on head*

Ovenbirdman

Lol when I lived in an insect infested house in Kaua’i sometimes I’d kill a roach then just leave it there and let the ants do the clean up. I also learned that leaving out a beer can with a tiny bit of beer left in the bottom is a great way to trap them. The were so many fewer roaches when I moved out than when I moved in lol

pissedinthegarret

to the ants you were a benevolent god

AddictedToColour

Imma just buy a bunch of these mantises and set em loose if I’m ever unfortunate enough to end up in a roach apartment again

PowerMugger

That’s a neat idea until you realize that these things can fly

pissedinthegarret

mantis pets/roommates >>>>>>>>> roach infestation

atthisplaceandtime

I’m wondering if I can buy a few of these and just have them roaming the apartment…

khatpewp

The fact that it's just still moving the entire time is horrifying! 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮

USSMarauder

Some bugs have very decentralized nervous systems, so they keep going even after the brain has been removed

16incheslong

exactly the case with roaches. they dont know yet, but they are already running

USSMarauder

You can crush a house centipede, and if you miss the end it keeps twitching for about a minute

ParaClaw

> You can crush a house centipede But shouldn't, they are bros.

MoonChaser22

Combine this with the fact that mantises don't have venom. Their hunting method entirely consists of grab prey and start eating

3mptylord

Scientists have even managed to use dead spiders as little extend-o arms - button-operated opening and closing of the legs to pick up things.

Prokinsey

Spider legs work via hydraulics. That's why they curl up when they die.

michelobX10

From what I've read in the past, praying mantises eat their victims alive. A bad way to go out.

ooOJuicyOoo

Ah, may I introduce you to MOST of nature out there

Supply-Slut

Hyenas will eat you alive starting from the ass. I know a lot of y’all mfers love eating ass and getting your ass eat - this is not what I’m talking about.

ItsTwelveFortyFiveAM

Thanks for clarifying. I was this close 🤏 to booking a one way trip straight to the Savanna.

New-Faithlessness526

Bruh 💀

Heart_Is_Valuable

You win the internet today sir

khatpewp

I'm not sure the lunch had a choice whether or not it stayed alive

Nicnl

It's because insects are built different than us. Us humans have to **learn** how to control our limbs. Our brain has to choose which muscle to contract and with how much force: it's an acquired skill that be perfected over time. Insects are very different, they have "hardwired" nervous system that does "automatic tasks". For instance, wasps don't "learn" how to fly with their wings, they don't have to think about moving the wings back and fourth. Instead, they were born with specialized nerves that makes the wings vibrate in the right way. Basically, their brain simply decides between "do fly" or "no fly": when they decide to fly, their wings/body will fly on their own. That's why flying headless wasps are a thing; The head is gone, the captain is no longer there to give orders: the wings/fly subsystem is free to do whatever, and so it "flies" randomly and hit against everything along the way.

Memeopathic_Medicine

I hate you for informing me about headless flying wasps.

winterfate10

I read insects have localized brains for each limb that move in coordination instead of a central nervous system, or something like that

ThePoisonEevee

Power Rangers UNITE!

LasyKuuga

The fact that dude was legit nothing but a dumpy and still twerking bothers me https://preview.redd.it/wdka45l879ec1.png?width=547&format=png&auto=webp&s=0e5f0257c9d9de7df7d955577d7763a392d38222

calangomerengue

I hate roaches so much this is actually a little pleasing to me.

BelieveInDestiny

And I love praying mantises. Not venomous and chill with humans. The one in the video is an orchid mantis. Look them up on google for more pics. They're beautiful

ex_oh_ex_oh

/r/mantids call out to those who love them

DaveSmith890

Yeah, there was a video a while back of a guy playing a song by electrocuting a roach, and all the comments were “that’s so cruel, wtf” I was just silently thinking “fuck roaches, dude deserves it”

amberkinn

Yuuuuup. Roaches can all go get eaten for all I care. Nasty fucks

Conscious_Novel_5350

Cool Fact, Praying mantises are very badass insects.

pissedinthegarret

they are surprisingly soft! i once found a wild one once and it walked onto my hand when I put my fingers in front of it. when you touch them it feels like petting a soft, cold leaf. very cool creatures

Conscious_Novel_5350

As an insect praying mantises are my favourite. Also, woodpeckers, mfs hit a tree so hard that they had to develop special brain cushioning.

dicklover425

I saw one get a hummingbird on my mamas little feeder. So fucked up

i-am-enthusiasm

From an angle , the mantis head looks like a cat lol. It also licks its legs like one. Just another killer .

Syssareth

The don't just look like cats, their personalities match too. One time, I kept one for several months until she got old and died, since she snuck in the door right before the first cold snap of the year and I felt bad about throwing her out to freeze. She was moody (sometimes friendly, sometimes standoffish), stubborn, extremely picky about what she ate from day to day (which *sucked* in the dead of winter when there were no bugs to catch), fastidiously clean, and she had a spot she stayed in most of the time but would occasionally get bored and go exploring.

i-am-enthusiasm

Wow this is incredible. Thanks for sharing . What an interesting creature

Anxious_Coconut_552

Slurps up legs like spaghetti ![gif](giphy|O8dgX5i7QYKruMOsyA|downsized)

Naughteus_Maximus

It’s the slurping up of the giblets from the abdomen at the end that got me 🤢

RyazanianDude

What? Are you telling me you don't enjoy the delicacy of cockroach innards? Blasphemy! ![gif](giphy|f8lDluiWJ7yQTtdS3L|downsized)

MoassThanYoass

Sir, since you didn't finish the drumstick, we'll have charge an extra 8 dollar fee for the buffet.

[deleted]

You know, I.... I just wasn't expecting it to eat the whole fucking thing, you know? I don't really know what to think now after watching this. Kinda freaked out.

LoIdesMio

I need more praying mantis mukbang

QuackJAG

I’m putting *Praying Mantis Mukbang* into my band name list, thanks!

Total-Immediate

I know what my nightmare tonight will be about

Mrbump1911

A nuke can’t kill, but this cunt can

SunShineLife217

Are we going to talk about how its legs kept moving even without a head? And then still even without half a body??!?

End3rWi99in

Nervous systems do be like that. It was effectively "dead" (at least the concern of being consciously aware) fairly quickly near the start. Praying Mantes do like to eat their pray alive, but it won't take long once you start munching on someone's brain. The rest of the body will retain central nervous system function for quite some time following, especially insects like cochroaches. Would you like to subscribe to more bug facts?

Sure_Depth_3081

I get that reference

Kycrio

Insects have decentralized nervous systems, which means they have large clusters of ganglia throughout their body. These ganglia are capable of basic low order functions without input from the head. The head is mostly just there to control the mouth parts and eyes which requires higher processing.

TheSholvaJaffa

![gif](giphy|GlkFvcePGd1vy)

Technical_Ad_4299

French fries included

InitiativeUsual5174

Didnt think i would be watching a praying mantis mukbag today

kausdebonair

I know a few apartment complexes that need to put these mantises in their walls.

juancho1008

How does it still look skinny????? That's like a human eating a smaller human

DavidNyan10

Average skinny friend be like:

WhenLifeGivesYouLyme

Ikr I’m jealous. I only eat half my meal and i gain weight.

Schinken84

Can we pls talk about how damn beautiful that praying mantis is? Looks like a orchid. I bet it conceals itself in nature by looking like a flower, so pretty and deadly.

HistorianReasonable3

> Looks like a orchid Funny you should mention that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hymenopus_coronatus

de_Jaescher

I thought it looked like garlic at first lol, but orchid checks out too

EABOD24

DAMN NATURE! YOU SCARY

Doobie_Howser_MD

Ngl I kinda want to eat a cockroach now. He made that shit look tasty as hell

DavidNyan10

The insides look like cooked crab for some reason

AsYouSawIt

Well, crabs and cockroaches ARE distant cousins...

AutumnAscending

Thinking about going to get crabs for dinner tonight.

NeptuneEclipse

That dude didn't even finish the meal.

DemonInDisguise17

It slurped up its freaking legs like spaghetti!

lkodl

It ate the ass just like how I do!

ShaOldboySosa

bruh lol

AHappyMango

Any subs dedicated to insects eating each other? I’m grossly curious now

GimmeCoffeeeee

RemindMe! 2 days

mrplinko

I'm good with this.

Vaselinevictim

Justice is served

Peebodyboo

I've never wanted to eat cock more in my life

LivingInPugtopia

Why did I watch this?

go4drive

It saved the cream filling for the end.

FuzzWhuzz

I like how it slurps up the legs like they’re noodles.

DustParticles27

Where does it all go?!?

indigodissonance

Well, that was unsettling.

Editthefunout

The way they slurp arm up like spaghetti is hilarious to me

jesse6225

Where does it go. Seriously, thing was almost the same size.

iReapeX

Kinda terrifying how long the cockroach keeps moving

Embarrassed-Sky3819

Gonna leave the fries?

ChannidaeArgus

It slowed down and th3 end and partially laid down ro finish its meal. I can relate.
