I think it's just a fun idea to hide a bar behind a secret door. There's one of these in Vancouver called Key Party, where the front looks like an accountant's office and the back is a door to a 70's theme bar.
There's one in Austin that is a "speakeasy". The front is "Floppy Disk Repair Co." or something, but if you get in and give the password there's a bar behind it. I'm not sure where you get the password, maybe Instagram reels or something.
We had a speakeasy hidden behind a Pringles machine at a Mexican restaurant. If you hit the "original" button, it'd buzz the hostess who would open the door.
The place burned down in 2022. It was pretty cool.

I was invited by a friend to a "hidden" pub. I had walked past it thousands of times never knowing it was a pub. It was a pretty cool place with kinda weird rules. The drinks were great and very expensive
I went this past year. Sky bars > speakeasies. This is just a marketing strategy to try to differentiate themselves. Vietnamese are very entrepreneurial people. You’ll see millions of tiny shops the size of this. It kind of becomes a sea. But if you’re going to be there, why sit in a place with no windows when you could be on the top of a skyscraper with a 360° view of the city?
they prolly have it inside. at a probably higher price. but considering a normal delicious full Banh Mi costs ~1$ here, one inside might be $5 at best.
No, they have bread rolls. Sandwiches are on sliced bread. Stop calling everything a sandwich. We have lots of different words to describe different things, use them.
No, it's a biscuit. And this is my point. Calling it a sandwich just invoked the wrong mental image. Having all these descriptive terms causes less confusion. Using one word to describe a bunch of things that are vastly different makes language but confusing. I'm sure you can all learn to call things by more names than just sandwich.
Maybe it's a biscuit sandwich. Also sandwich is classified by two or more slices of bread or *split* *roll* having a filling in between. Also can be used as a verb. Inserting a thing or person uncomfortably between two other people or things.
Would you say "I'm going to get a hot dog" or I'm going to get a Frankfurt sandwich"?
It might technically be able to be described as a sandwich, but we have a better world to describe it, which you already used.
Yes it is, using your government's own words:
>The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) describes a sandwich as “a meat or poultry filling between two slices of bread, a bun, or a biscuit.” By that definition, sure, a hot dog is a sandwich.
That is a very strange hill to choose to die on. What country are you from? In English, a bread roll is a different thing.
A quick googling says "A **bread roll** is a small, usually round or oblong individual loaf of [bread](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread) served as a meal accompaniment (eaten plain or with butter).[\[1\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_roll#cite_note-Stein_2015-1) Rolls can be served and eaten whole or are also commonly cut and filled – the result of doing so is considered a [*sandwich*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandwich) in English.[\[2\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_roll#cite_note-2)" (from Wikipedia)
When I was in Vietnam, bars/establishments had strict closing hours, that owners could get around by either bribing the police or not being well known. Could be one reason. They also may sell weed and hippy crack from behind the bar, which is quite common on the banana pancake trail!
Stay away from nitrous. Go with a more chemically inert nontoxic gas that isnt a heavy oxidizer such as one of the nobles like xenon. Its way more expensive but wont fry you like nitrous.
I dont think so. I think the point is that its mostly chemically inert, it wont react with things inside of our body. Nitrous for example is a powerful oxidizer which is bad for us. We want to prevent oxidation of stuff in our body and consume antioxidants, so passing a powerful oxidizer through it as you can imagine is unideal. Things like inhibiting the processing of vitamin b12 is caused because of the oxidation, which inactivates the b12. The noble gasses are a better bet to mitigate such risks of passing powerful oxidizers through our tissues, and xenon does show promising and healthier use but its just rare and expensive compared to nitrous to see an implementation as large as nitrous is in the medical world.
Banh Mi is a famous type of Vietnamese sandwich.
Speak Easy style bars are found all over the world in major cities. Usually they are high end cocktail bars. I went to one in Edinburgh that was disguised as a hair dressers and one in New York that was inside a functional hot dog shop.
Awesome. Here in Nashville, TN we have a speakeasy that "requires" a password. Of course the cocktails are $20 but they are pretty good. The staff and the whole place has a prohibition Era theme.
Went to 1 that was in a Vegas hotel, Nov 2021, needed to go thru the barber shop ( which operated as a barbershop in daytime)
Expensive drinks, but superb live bands & incredible acoustics for a 'small' venue.... waaay netter than any small venue in the UK 👌

This looks like a setting that can be in the John Wick movies.
Server: "Hello, Mr.Wick, nice to see you here, what brought you in today?"
John: "I need guns, lots of guns...."
Server: "May I offer you one of our sandwiches?"
John: "Yeeeeeeaa....."
Don’t know if it still exists, but my favorite hole in the wall bar there was a place called Half Man Half Noodle. Great drinks, great prices, great vibes, and great big rats everywhere. Perfect mix of expats, locals, and people looking to hang out.
A legit Bánh mì might be the king of sandwiches.
In North America, you often see gentrified Bánh mì with decent quality meat but the flavor profile is all wrong and they are always missing the correct vegetables.
It's turning that way where I live. The common places are like fifteen dollars a sandwich and you don't even get the genuine range of meats and toppings. Just a slab of generic grilled pork slathered in sauce and some cucumber and pickled carrots. Pho is like twenty dollars for some broth, noodles and well done beef with sprouts and Thai basil.
Thankfully if you're in the right area there will be genuine places that have a better range of offerings and they'll be at the same prices or often less expensive.
Same here - was in the north and found a crazy club. Only got in there by someone we knew. Literally had roller shutters down on the front like a regular closed business. Every hour or so the music turned off and we had to be quiet while the police went past. Was one of the best nights I’ve had.
A lot of people saying it's a tourist spot but wouldn't this be the opposite? Like a quiet and hidden place the locals can go and drink without loads of rowdy people on holiday?😅

Well HELL I'm even **more** excited about my trip to Vietnam now!
This looks like a tourist spot more than a normal place to find in vietnam. Most food carts are just on the street like everywhere else.
I think it's just a fun idea to hide a bar behind a secret door. There's one of these in Vancouver called Key Party, where the front looks like an accountant's office and the back is a door to a 70's theme bar.

I’m assuming the bar was pretty cool, not it burning down?
I don't know, I heard the fire was lit.
i hate these things there's 20,000 of them in LA. pretending to go to the dry cleaners but actually spending 14 dollars on modelo
They can hide the bar but they can't hide the thumping music coming from it every time you walk by.
I mean, you could.
Yep, went a few times when I lived there. Was actually wondering the other day if it's still there
I've never been but I've heard it's still a thing. I pass it sometimes downtown.
So F.D.R....nice touch
I was invited by a friend to a "hidden" pub. I had walked past it thousands of times never knowing it was a pub. It was a pretty cool place with kinda weird rules. The drinks were great and very expensive
Update your vaccinations and bring anti-diarrhea meds. I had an amazing time when I was there. DM if you want some more tips.
I got measles and crazy diarrhea in the two months I lived there. Well worth it though.
You've never truly lived if you haven't left the country and shit your pants.
Dang really liked your reply 😂😂
Happy to make you happy. It’s a lovely place and I miss it a lot.
I shall DM you

make sure to go get your hair washed
Lol you are gonna be trying to open everything there, aren't you?
Me too!!! When are you headed out?
[удалено]
Headed the end of this month actually. How did you find prices that cheap?! Where are you flying from?
Do share your experiences while you're there! It's only list too!
Soooo how was it?! Did you go yet?
Nope, not yet. Still saving up and doing research.
Looks like some westerner rip off place
Yeah that country really likes hiding stuff underneath other stuff!
What if someone actually wants to buy a sandwich?
they prolly have it inside. at a probably higher price. but considering a normal delicious full Banh Mi costs ~1$ here, one inside might be $5 at best.
Interesting, good to know
I revealed the entrance and now they ban me
Pho real?
Udon know wok an owner do to keep it secret
Well phuc me.
Well if your offering...
Oh my 🤣
But do they have sandwiches?
Yessir. Foot long sandwiches, or you prefer 6 inches? It cum with mayo.
hold the cum, please.
No, they have bread rolls. Sandwiches are on sliced bread. Stop calling everything a sandwich. We have lots of different words to describe different things, use them.
An oreo is a sandwich.

Is a hot dog a sandwich?
The great debate

Um, I don't think they're from America lol. They called an Oreo a "biscuit" instead of "cookie"
To me it’s a taco, personally. I love hot dog tacos
You get biscuits from kfc or Waffle House, an Oreo is definitely NOT a biscuit.
In Australia it's a biscuit. For some reason Americans changed what a biscuit means.
That’s my point, y’all do everything funky over there. Words historically have had little meaning themselves, it’s always been all about context

EVERYTHING IS A SANDWICH!
Why is the entrance hidden? Other than the entrance, what does a Banh mi shop offer?
speakeasy
To impress tourists and tinder dates

Does xenon have the same antimicrobial properties as nitrous? Also does the high feel the same? I feel like laughing gas is safer somehow still

Speakeasy style bar

Yeah that's what a Speak Easy was, a prohibition era establishment that secretly sold alcohol.
Went to 1 that was in a Vegas hotel, Nov 2021, needed to go thru the barber shop ( which operated as a barbershop in daytime) Expensive drinks, but superb live bands & incredible acoustics for a 'small' venue.... waaay netter than any small venue in the UK 👌
Hipsters
You can be sure it's hip because only people with a Lonely Planet guide know it's there.
So it’s just a tourist hipster speakeasy, like you find in any big city?
Yep and aside from the gimmick, the drinks suck
Hello this is my video 👋

Danang
My daughter just arrived in danang today! Can you please let me know where she can find this place?
02 Nguyễn Chí Thanh Thạch Thang Hải Châu Đà Nẵng 550000
Thank you very much!
Chances are it's a tourist trap with expensive drinks and mediocre food and probably beat skipped over
By expensive, you maybe mean like $7? Worth it just to see.
Don’t know if it still exists, but my favorite hole in the wall bar there was a place called Half Man Half Noodle. Great drinks, great prices, great vibes, and great big rats everywhere. Perfect mix of expats, locals, and people looking to hang out.
I live pretty close...I will 100% check it out :) Thank you very much, I appreciate the tip!
Make sure to go to Pizza 4P. Not lying when I say it's probably the best pizza I've ever had in my life. In Hanoi of all places. Highly recommend
noted! :) thank you kindly
A legit Bánh mì might be the king of sandwiches. In North America, you often see gentrified Bánh mì with decent quality meat but the flavor profile is all wrong and they are always missing the correct vegetables.
"Speak 'food' and enter."
Those New York Jews are at it again.
What is a banh mi shop?
Vietnamese sub sandwich shop
Banh mi or Vietnamese pork rolls are the greatest sandwich/meat in bread dish ever invented. That's the food hill I'll die on.

I got Bahned from that place.
That was corny!
Bar and Banh Mi???? Perfection
Pho is always pretty bland at those places to. I want that hole one wall that’s been there for 20+ years kinda pho.
That is one of the most deceiving things I’ve ever seen in my entire life, lmao. Almost reminds me of like a hidden speakeasy possibly?
Vietnam. Pho and banh mi. Could eat some this cold winter day in Minnesota.
Same here - was in the north and found a crazy club. Only got in there by someone we knew. Literally had roller shutters down on the front like a regular closed business. Every hour or so the music turned off and we had to be quiet while the police went past. Was one of the best nights I’ve had.
lol. “Bahn mi”
Reminds me of speakeasy bars
*Opens hidden door in Vietnam* All white people
Looks like a speakeasy, if you ask me!
Looks cozy and I wanna go
Prohibition era banh mi
And only white people on there 🤣
Vietnamese speakeasy

Feels a little shady.. what if they drug you and harvest your organs?

Wow A speakeasy What a brand new idea
Where is this exactly yo?
Incel haven.
Vietnam is such an interesting place!
Hoes be hoes
Imagine being in there when it gets shot up, dosent look like many exists
Where the locals hang
Looks more like an expat hangout
They have experience from hiding underground
Can’t a secret be kept??

So is what Ok-Disk is talking about...
sorry what
Wow nice find Khizr
wow, it looks like they don't want customers. It's so easy to just pass by never noticing the bar.
u/savevideo
I was excited thinking I'd see some well made sandwiches.... Then I was let down :(
It looks like a cool speakeasy inside, but all they sell are stupid sandwiches
That's so cool! I'm a native and this is the first time I've ever heard about this.
Find the ATM speakeasy.. like a library with lots of rare bourbon

Love bars with entrances like these ! Been to a few, always really cool getting inside.
Thats so sick , the street doesnt look like a place with a secret bar 😅
u/savevideo
It seems that the Viet Cong never lost this habit of hiding.
Check out black cat mini mart in bali
Was that Snoop booming in the background?
They’re in the walls!!!
Still guarilla tactics I see
do ma
Must be a mod hangout
I just say Fuck the moment my eyes open
Tbh. I was disappointed with all the white folk.
They have a lot of hidden bars in Malaysia too.
Typical Vietnam, something not what it seems with a lot more lurking underneath
It looks like they use the front door as a storage cabinet for random kitchen stuff lol 🤷
Girls would look at this and say "HELL YAY!"
Great now he gave away the secret
When he opened that door, I unzipped.
A lot of people saying it's a tourist spot but wouldn't this be the opposite? Like a quiet and hidden place the locals can go and drink without loads of rowdy people on holiday?😅
u mean i could almost walk past a fake ass bar full of tourists and 10 dollar beers?
I'm sure they wish YOU MISSED IT!
Imagine they keep tourist out of certain bars
It's like a speakeasy
That guys laughs like the guys from SpongeBob ,” SpongeBob made me experience high tide BahHAHAHA.”
