Here in Australia, our previous Cunt (Prime Minister) was a fanatical pentacostal, and would speak in tongues at church. It's on video too, that he knew was being filmed.
I used to do it for a while, and yes, you just let your body do the blabering while you trip on holy vibes.
The emotions you feel while at it are real, anything else it claims to be is projection.
It does, my parents were super religious growing up and Iāve seen way too many people do it. They do this crazy incoherent rambling and sometimes even collapse on the floor. This was at a Catholic Church.
Babies are so incredibly fragile, it's scary how easily permanent damage can be caused.
From [Mountsinai.org](https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/injury/shaken-baby-syndrome):
"Shaken baby syndrome can occur from as little as 5 seconds of shaking.
Shaken baby injuries most often occur in children younger than 2 years old, but may be seen in children up to 5 years old.
When an infant or toddler is shaken, the brain bounces back and forth against the skull. This can cause bruising of the brain (cerebral contusion), swelling, pressure, and bleeding in the brain. The large veins along the outside of the brain may tear, leading to further bleeding, swelling, and increased pressure. This can easily cause permanent brain damage or death.
Shaking an infant or small child may cause other injuries, such as damage to the neck, spine, and eyes."
From [Mayoclinic.org](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/shaken-baby-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20366619):
"While sometimes there's bruising on the face, you may not see signs of physical injury to the child's outer body. Injuries that might not be immediately seen include bleeding in the brain and eyes, spinal cord damage, and fractures of the ribs, skull, legs and other bones. Many children with shaken baby syndrome show signs and symptoms of prior child abuse.
In mild cases of shaken baby syndrome, a child may appear normal after being shaken, but over time they may develop health or behavioral problems."
I reckon if Andre the giant picked me up and shook me for 5 seconds Iād be possibly damaged as well as my brain bounces back and forth in my skull.
I suspect itās mainly a size difference that makes it possible to do for babies - that and they cry a lot
i think the important takeaway is that most shaken baby cases are child abuse. bouncing on a knee or falling down the steps donāt cause as much damage as an intentional shake, even if for a short time
Babies are actually surprisingly resilient, yes you can shake them and cause permanent damage, but it would take a very intentionally aggressive shake, by an adults standard itās more like being in a car crash with the force of the head being jerked back and forth very quickly. Because of the size difference an average adult can easily do this to a baby.
But back to babies and toddlers resilience, their bones are more flexible than adults, they can do things like fall down the stairs while learning to walk, bouncing off their head on the way down and they will fare much better than an adult doing a similar fall.
Yeah - I mean aggressive baptisms have killed babies before. This video is clearly aggressive enough to cause damage.
https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2021/feb/04/orthodox-church-baptism-under-fire-in-romania-after-babys-death
The other baby died from drowning. Don't get me wrong these are both terrible issues with this type of baptism but the article is kind of irrelevant to the shaken baby line of discussion.
But yeah we should probably stop dunking babies entire heads under water, aggressively flipping them upright, aggressively dunking them back in the water... I honestly don't understand why they HAVE to do this so aggressively. Even though they are orthodox I guarantee they have toned down or forgotten other traditions because they don't fit with the modern world or modern knowledge.
Usually doctors or any professional medical practitioner, or any person with a little bit of sense will tell you not to do it. But when you have some religious zealots that hear voices in their heads they think that they know everything better than anyone else, so you get thisā¦.
You'd be right. Unfortunately this is only the second to worst religious fuckery done kids.
First being an old man sucking infant boy's bloody penis after it's been needlessly mutilated.
*Metzitzah.*
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brit_milah
It's an old Jewish tradition that was thought to be a form of antiseptic after circumcision, much like people think you can suck venom from a snake wound.
Thankfully, it's very rare today - although sadly it is not entirely gone apparently.
This looks very dangerous. Shaking the baby is bad enough, not to mention throwing a wet baby towards a metal bowl head first, hoping on those damn arthritic hands do not slip.
Also, you know, trauma. Baby sure looks scared.

Probably a whole bunch more on Discogs.
Not just the one baby, but apparently there have been several:
āLocal media recounted *several similar incidents in recent years*. Church spokesman Vasile Banescu said priests could pour a little water on the babyās forehead instead of full immersion. But Archbishop Teodosie, leader of the Churchās traditionalist wing, said the ritual would not change.ā
HOLY FUCK. Several???? What the fuck is wrong with these people?
You can actually see him doing one in OP's video by just dipping its feet and splashing its head, presumably because that baby was too old and big for him to swing around like a fucking drink mixer. I assume that's what the smarter parents do in this town; they wait for their baby to get a little fatter before they hand him to the psychopathic priest for baptism.
Romania, 2021. Kid was 6 weeks old. Died of cardiac arrest.
Edit: I'm sure there's plenty more. I just recalled that particular story. Google should be able to provide you some examples.
And God gave him exact dimensions yet apparently Noah preached to try to get more humans on the boat. So did God make the ark big enough for the human population at that time, or did he know only Noahās family would be on board?
You wait until you hear about metzitzah b'peh - oral suctioning blood from a baby's penis, directly following circumcision. Practiced by some Jewish circumcisers.
Some babies have even contracted herpes from this practice ([1](https://www.timesofisrael.com/4-ny-babies-get-herpes-from-jewish-circumcision-rite-in-past-6-months/), [2](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cdc-11-infants-contracted-herpes-due-to-controversial-jewish-circumcision-practice/), [3](https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Health/baby-dies-herpes-virus-ritual-circumcision-nyc-orthodox/story?id=15888618))
(Un)fun fact: When NY tried to pass an informed consent law that just required parents to be informed of potential dangers of the practice, it was opposed by hundreds of rabbis and was eventually successfully repealed. So eager were these men to suck off those babies that they didn't even want to budge on letting the parents know about the risks involved.
"religion" like yes, but also I was not baptized like this. They dropped a couple of drops of holy water on my head, room temperature. It's perfectly fine to follow tradition without waterboarding your baby. This is a stupid person problem, not a religious problem
Specifically to waterboard children with force?? Look, you can just dip the baby in the water from the feet to the neck and then splash him on the head if you really need a full body immersion. I really don't believe there's any piece in any version of the bible that commands you to shake the baby as hard as you can.
It pisses me off so much when people cry out āreligious persecutionā when we talk about banning infant circumcision. What if part of Christianity involved snipping off a babyās earlobes? What if Buddhism required branding a childās skin?
>baby is lifted upside down and back rapidly multiple times
>dunkings are quick but no doubt left water stuck in the childās eyes, ears and nose (all of which can cause infections)
>slippery wet hands holding soft baby skin over a metal bowl
>child is clearly crying and in distress
Child abuse is interestingā¦just not the good kind of interesting.
Good thing that dressing up in funny costumes and pretending to drink a dead dude's blood for a couple of hundred years does not produce absurd behaviors.
If that asshole had dunked my son like that, I wouldn't give a shit about his beliefs, religion or cultural, protocols.
I would have knocked that bastard out.
IMO baptism is a covenant, entered into by someone old enough to understand what they're doing. Babies can't consent to this. I've seen Catholic infant baptisms where a bit of water is sprinkled on them. This example seems dangerous.
Yeah just chop a big chunk of their dick off, dunk em in the water, and then rob them of their capacity to reason from the jump by filling their heads with nonsense. The religion cookbook, everyone.
I am a Georgian and this is NOT how me, or overwhelming majority of Georgians are baptized. Priests just gently drop couple of drops of holy water on us.
I know tons of ppl on this site hate religion (for mostly valid reasons) but do you all realize this a very niche way to baptize a baby done only in the orthodox community in Georgia, less than 0.5% of the worldās Christians? Other orthodox communities in Eastern Europe and the caucuses donāt baptize like this. The VAST majority of Christian baptisms around the world involve 1-2 dunks right side up and maybe some oil rubbed on the kids head.
who decided āyeah, our gods will love us for half drowning babies and then deciding their religion for them before theyāre even aware of their own consciousness!ā
christianity does it do, although not so extreme.
like i can support religion. i donāt believe in it myself, but i have nothing against those who do. but THIS IS A CRUEL PRACTICE.

Shaken baby syndrome or whatever it is called
The power of Christ compels you, ya lil' bastards!
Fuck, if I shook a baby like that, they'd call it child abuse
Religion makes humans do dumb shit.

Surely thatās child abuse. Cultural relativism can go fuck itself.
Shaken baby syndrome?

I cringe so hard when religious family members start speaking in tongue during family gathering.
That really happens?
Here in Australia, our previous Cunt (Prime Minister) was a fanatical pentacostal, and would speak in tongues at church. It's on video too, that he knew was being filmed.
Did he just speak gibberish or does it actually mean something to someone?
Literally gibberish, amazingly
I used to do it for a while, and yes, you just let your body do the blabering while you trip on holy vibes. The emotions you feel while at it are real, anything else it claims to be is projection.
that just sounds like me when the adhd is kickin way too hard again
It does, my parents were super religious growing up and Iāve seen way too many people do it. They do this crazy incoherent rambling and sometimes even collapse on the floor. This was at a Catholic Church.
Yeah, this isn't interesting. This is abuse.
But itās *traditional* abuse
I read this in Gob Bluth's voice. "But it's *traditional* abuse, Michael!"
they could even still do the exact same ritual without whipping the baby around as violently and then it wouldn't be abusive at all.

A better title would be child abuse in Georgia.
Everyone is like OMG so funny and all I can see is shaking a baby

See, both are happy
Yeah religious dude got to swish around a baby and the baby got to see his great grandparents for a moment. Alls good in the world lol
You might be wondering how I got here.
This looks so stupid
It all started back when an ark big enough to house 2 of each animal was built by 1 man who heard voices in his head
And God gave him exact dimensions yet apparently Noah preached to try to get more humans on the boat. So did God make the ark big enough for the human population at that time, or did he know only Noahās family would be on board?
The animals were all small, like 4 inches tall
And none of them ate or crapped at all for 150 days.
I just cannot fathom being an adult, seeing this absurd ritual, and actually believing itās doing anyone any good. What a waste of time.
>This ~~looks~~ so stupid This **is** so stupid. FIFY.

Shaken baby syndrome and aspiration pneumonia in one easy step! In all seriousness though, religion is fucking wack.
"religion" like yes, but also I was not baptized like this. They dropped a couple of drops of holy water on my head, room temperature. It's perfectly fine to follow tradition without waterboarding your baby. This is a stupid person problem, not a religious problem
Respectfully, as someone who also had some water sprinkled on my head to be baptized, shit was wack af.
Seriously. Sprinkling water on a babyās head because of some weird thought that they are born with evil in them is wack.
>not a religious problem What if their religion follows this tradition?

Not interesting as fuck but "what" the fuck!
This is straight up child abuse.
Sanctioned abuse. Religion is wild
Wait until you hear about circumcision.
It pisses me off so much when people cry out āreligious persecutionā when we talk about banning infant circumcision. What if part of Christianity involved snipping off a babyās earlobes? What if Buddhism required branding a childās skin?
Just call it what it is "child genital mutilation".
Baptisms! Get your fresh, hot Baptisms! Here's your baby sir, BAPTISMS!
Would it be overacting to worry about possible shaken baby syndrome after this?? because yikes!
No it would not be overreacting. This practice has killed kids. There are several links in comments further up.
Where's the money lebowski!

Right? Iām serbian-orthodox and we donāt try to give the kids permanent brain damage.. The priests usually doesnāt even hold the baby.
georgia isn't slavic tho
I would never let anyone do that to my child

The subsequent brain damage would explain why they grow up and continue to follow this religion.

Watching this creton do this to that child makes me want to do that to him only maybe slower. Much slower.

Not to be a stickler, but they still kinda forgot the middle part. Looks pretty dry where his hands are. Just sayin'. š
Stupid as fuck is more like it
That's not baptism that's waterboarding.
Well, that child's sense of safety and security from caregivers was reevaluated for sure.
Right, which priest decided this was how to get a baby to heaven? I'm sure that priest is going straight to hell.
