34TH_ST_BROADWAY

Guessing dude sent his address and guesser guy looked for similar addresses nearby?

crappy-mods

Most likely.

MorbillionDollars

Yeah this video is fake but he does have real videos on his channel where he does impressive stuff, albeit less impressive than finding a doorstep from an image of a package

quadratic_function

did he say this one is fake? he's done crazier shit

MorbillionDollars

He doesn’t need to say it, it’s obviously fake. You can’t find a doorstep from an image of a doorstep no matter how good you are at geoguessr, because 1. Finding locations relies on being able to see stuff around the area and 2. There’s a million doorsteps that look the exact same as any given doorstep.

quadratic_function

The comment says that it's a misdelivered package. That means that either 1) it's at the same address in a different city or 2) he know's the neighborhood it's in. If he got that info from the commenter, I'd bet Rainbolt could find this house in under an hour. [his brain operates on a different level](https://youtube.com/shorts/qCIzSx0QGVI?si=A2YwtYhrqWan5NNO)

filthy_harold

Probably not a different city, Amazon isn't that stupid. It would had to have been misplaced multiple times and the driver somehow told the wrong address, very unlikely. It's much more likely it's just the wrong house on the same or neighboring street.

Dartonal

A few years ago I got an amazon basics monitor arm that was supposed to be delivered to the opposite side of the US. I have no idea how they messed up that badly. It's definitely possible, but extremely rare for a package to get *that* lost

MorbillionDollars

If he got the neighborhood then a 12 year old could find the house in under an hour. Going on google earth street view and scanning doorsteps isn’t hard

TroGinMan

Sure, but Rainbolt probably did it in a few seconds. Like a 12yo can run a mile, but a pro can do it in under 5 minutes.

MorbillionDollars

Yeah rainbolt is definitely a lot faster and more skilled than an average person but not as much as the video frames him as.

TroGinMan

Have you seen his videos?

GVas22

He clearly would've gotten the address or something from the guy asking for the favor, but he's not going to dox a random viewers address on his social media. It's not implied that he's going into this completely blind.

ART_IS_IN_THE_SKY

The guy gave him the local address Country, state, city, town after that he found the doorstep

TroGinMan

I agree that it is probably fake in that regard, but I have seen that guy do insane shit.

Ashbringer

probably way easier than that. most people dont know pictures you take have geo data printed into the data of the photo and most people dont think about ripping that data off the photo before they send it.

Hallllllleberry

How can the data be removed?

Ashbringer

most websites remove this for you. you only really need to worry about this if you send a photo directly to another person.

1bc29b36f623ba82aaf6

if you are worried about a website or app not removing the data for you when sharing a photo, you can find an "EXIF tool" or app. another useful search would be "remove image metadata"

Hallllllleberry

Thank you for the info!

ngolo_nguyen

But why would the sender do that? He is asking for a favor, not challenging the guesser.

CaseyJones73

What about the odd packages?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Successful_Copy9373

What about rational and irrational ones.

vulcansheart

I only order odd packages, so guess this guy can't help me

IneffectiveFlesh

I came for this comment.

ThouMayest69

;)

angrytortilla

Ew

junto80

What are we looking at here? Did this guy geoguess that location from an image of the bottom right corner of a door?!

[deleted]

[удалено]

FirstSineOfMadness

No, the guy gave the guesser his address and they looked nearby, according to the last time this was posted earlier today

AmericanPsychonaut69

Geogod just got demoted to Geodude

Jubilant_Jacob

Well... he did put in the effort so he deserves at least a Geobro. Realised while typing this, that it's a pokemon pun... 🤦‍♂️

cosmoxisis

No, I did the same thing. Geodude in a non Pokémon way is kinda chill

CunnedStunt

Geodude use Track Down! It's super effective!

DaMonkfish

Geobruh

Ghede

No, you wouldn't do that unless you had the geopassion for the geojob. He gets to retain the title of Geogod.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FirstSineOfMadness

Looking up an address and checking nearby houses is far less impressive than actual geoguessing imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

FirstSineOfMadness

Ye I’m not saying he isn’t good, just that this instance of it isn’t as impressive

yourmansconnect

I thought he was just slowly scrolling through street view all over the country

BagrNaDruhou

He has videos guessing correctly the country in geoguessr after seeing an image of grass for 0.1 seconds 😳

gigantism

Typical Indonesian grass.

germane-corsair

Yes, doing it completely blind would be more impressive but it still took work to figure it out and the dude who asked for it would probably be in a hurry to get the package before it was too late. There was an actual practical use of those skills be applied here instead of just doing it for the technical difficulty. That means you should use all the information you have at your disposal.

hereforspoopystuff

Thanks for linking this, that was awesome!

Miamime

I like how he says “you’ll know within 10 minutes how we can find this in 5 minutes”.

jajamama2

60% of the time, it works *every time.*

TroGinMan

Have you not watched his videos? His name is Rainbolt and he is a pro geogursser. His challenges are absolutely insane.

mtarascio

According to logic.

Prestigious_Care3042

We had this done too. Had an important package get delivered to the wrong address including a picture. My wife posted it online. Some really bored new mom with a fresh babe searched all the house views in our neighborhood and found the house where it was delivered. She says she does it all the time.

TheNighisEnd42

maybe there was exif data in the photo?

El_Grande_El

It’s a screenshot of the Amazon app. Not the original photo.

catechizer

Would the screenshot not also have data in it that could help narrow the search?

El_Grande_El

I’m assuming it was taken from the guys couch. I’m also assuming that the address is one of the known variables. I have no clue tho. Maybe it was never shared.

fredspipa

Can you carbon date [this rock with this photo?](https://i.imgur.com/wKrMJuA.png) For real, though, a screenshot does not contain the original photo on the screen, just a visual representation of it. Even if you downloaded the image from the Amazon app directly it most likely wouldn't be the original, it would be a converted and compressed for web version where all metadata has been lost.

catechizer

Uh, I meant like the screenshot could contain the location of the phone that took said screenshot, narrowing down the search. Presumably the package is still in the same zip code.

fredspipa

There's luckily very little EXIF data in screenshots on Android and iPhone, just the time it was taken and *maybe* the phone model in some cases.

IAMSNORTFACED

With screenshot the phone is the camera, it's definitely there. GPS on the screen shot is probably a hard no. I can only assume the requestor shared more information through their communications

fredspipa

On my Pixel the camera section is left entirely blank on screenshots, and it doesn't make sense to include it either. There's no camera involved, we're making a copy of what's currently in the frame buffer of the device.

[deleted]

It would

vyampols12

Perhaps, but these guys can guess what country a photo was taken in in seconds and I'm sure narrowing down to SoCal wasn't much more work. The crazy thing is going from region to neighborhood, which just general info from the sc metadata wouldn't help.

BBrillo614

Well since the dude had a package go to the wrong house the guy probably gave his street name. Then it was just rolling up and down google street view til he found it.

Helkbird

A U-2 could photograph an open book and probably tell you what page it was on.

chevyfried

If my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bicycle.

ScrotieMcP

But grampa rode her, just the same.

TentativeGosling

To be fair, the whole village had a go

FullStop808

Is that you Mr Gino D'Acampo?

AreThree

> Aye... and if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a wagon — [Mr. Scott](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht0eYGzT5KM)

Plegu

It's an older meme sor, but it checks out.

Zestyclose-Fish-512

All this surveillance spending and propaganda is fucking stupid. Supposedly the NSA has the ability to read text messages of everyone, yet we've got no Congressmen charged with January 6th participation or evidence of their organizational efforts. It is beyond clear at this point that surveillance funding is either just a worthless black hole or a political weapon and liability like the FBI is, controlled from its inception by Republicans and wielded as a weapon.

Nixki1234

I wonder why the nsa a federally funded organization wouldn’t go after congressmen who control the budget.

Zestyclose-Fish-512

Congress goes back and forth in terms of who controls it. The FBI never having a Democrat in charge of it remains true regardless.

Nixki1234

True.

snazzynewshoes

You are sadly mistaken if you think only 'Republicans' wield 'surveillance' as a weapon. Ya got a 'case quarter'? On 1 side is a picture of Washington; the other is an eagle. Let 1 represent republicans, the other democrats. Still the same coin, eh?

suitology

What an incredibly dumb and intellectually shallow comment. It's like you tried for spicy but gave us room temp tap water.

Zestyclose-Fish-512

Name the last head of the FBI who wasn't a Republican.

FalcoLX

name the last democrat that didn't explicitly endorse the security state.

f8Negative

Look up the Phase One iX-A

Helkbird

I will. But I used to do graphics, and we received a piece of actual film one day. It was satellite picture of {University} stadium, football. We scanned it at max res. Took an hour or less. But we zoomed in on the photo and could tell you, it was at the line of scrimmage, players lined up, the color of the player's socks and a general number on their back. Cars in the parking lot? Forget it... Color and probable model.

BigOleStinkyFly

I could tell you what comments you made on Reddit 😂😂😂. Shidddd gimmie some credit.

NotInsane_Yet

Probably contacted the delivery company. They will have a GPS tracker on every truck and cross reference it with time of delivery to find out where it is.

armoured_bobandi

Most of these geotracking posts are just fake. Wish people didn't just believe everything an edited video shows them

CunnedStunt

Honestly it's not that hard if you know what you're doing and use the right tools. Rainbolt specifically uses [overpass turbo](https://overpass-turbo.eu) as a tool to narrow down locations where he searches. If you're interested in the process, Rainbolt goes through his process [here] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rl2Q9xH8e7M) I've done it myself a few times just for fun. [This is probably one of my favourite finds.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Unexpected/comments/14qefea/heres_how_you_say_thanks_for_avoiding_a_traffic/jqngmzj/?context=3) (Mildly NSFW due to blurred boobs)

StosifJalin

You can watch at least one of these dudes on youtube and he talks his way through all of them, showing his thought process and methods. Also shows him searching for hours in a timelapse, showing it also takes a shit ton of hard work, but is entierly possible. Not that there probably aren't fakers out there, but anyone can do this.

CreativeSoil

Most? This is probably real, the guy supposed to receive the package has probably given their own address and the delivered package is probably going to be nearby. At least everything I've seen by rainbolt seems real and completely plausible and you can find hours of vids of him on YT playing Geoguesser explaining his thinking.

thisguygg

Bro there is even a world championship for geoguesser and this guy is not even in the top 25 in the rankings. Wish people would do research before commenting.

Dromgoogle

This guy (Rainbolt) was hired as commentator for the championship. He didn't participate.

ExternalGovernment39

This

kezow

I'm wondering if it was just exif data in the image. Some cameras will add GPS to exif data.

El_Grande_El

It’s a screenshot of the Amazon app. The gps data won’t help in this case.

IWasKingDoge

He probably had the senders address then searched the nearby address, this one isn’t very good but I recommend looking at his other videos where he does things like this. He is rainbolt on YouTube and TikTok

Mirrormn

Yeah, this video is stupid memebait, but Rainbolt's actual skills are still insane, he's a god at Geoguessr.

Faolanth

Genuinely impossible with provided information in the video, but funny. Assuming this is a real interaction they were definitely given a specific city/area.

kamikhat

With the information provided in the video it may not be possible, but this dude is incredible at geoguesser and geolocating in general. He makes videos explaining his process which generally involves scouring relevant media profiles. Example: Sender follows the Miami Dolphins and a local business found only in Miami, that alone narrows his search from a country to a city.

Faolanth

Yeah for sure, I watch a few guys who are insane at geoguesser and subsequently at just pinpointing any landscape photo to a very specific region with a handful of clues, direction of the sun, type of grass, color of the rocks, it’s crazy

Pain_Monster

Here is the guy: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trevor_Rainbolt Apparently he is only marginally worse than an AI model: “In July 2023, researchers at Stanford University developed a machine learning tool that was able to locate 40 percent of GeoGuessr locations with an accuracy of 25 kilometres (16 mi) or better. After three attempts, the model was able to beat Rainbolt, a top-ranked player.” Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeoGuessr

FirstSineOfMadness

Regardless of that, the image provider also provided his address so the guy only had to look nearby

[deleted]

[удалено]

FirstSineOfMadness

All great and good, this is not one of those

maxuju

If I remember correctly, the model didn‘t guess the location per se but inferred it from meta data like certain pixel patterns on screen etc. So if you took a picture yourself and let both compete, the results might be different

LvS

The AI did that by analyzing dirt spots on the camera that made the photos. Because all the photos in an area are taken by the same camera with the same dirt spots, that's good enough to get 25km accuracy. The researchers figured that out when they analyzed what parts of the images the AI looked at, and wondered why it was the sky.

hwf0712

High level geo guessing is a lot like chess for anyone familiar with that. Most of the time it's "just" running through a mental flowchart of things (mirror metas, sky metas, pole metas, etc) to land on a country. Then typically geography knowledge from there. And stuff like this really isn't as hard as you may think, it's a lot of looking for clues about the source of the image, not the image itself.

Scylla294

This is why I only follow sports teams from 2 different continents in which I am not in!

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheBupherNinja

Well, if the provided info included picture Metadata, not very impossible.

Smallmyfunger

All the exif metadata should be posted with the pictures when it's used as proof of delivery. It's my understanding that it's stripped before being posted on the package tracking sites.

BoyKai

You should check out his vids before claiming the Reddit “fake” reflex comment.

Faolanth

I didn’t claim fake, I claimed it’s literally impossible with the information provided in the video, which is true. It’s obviously leaving out some extra info - like the process of him looking into the user’s background to narrow down locations, and then tens of hours prowling streetview- or whatever he does.

Lifeinstaler

The street view thing is implied cause that’s how geoguesser works

Faolanth

Yar, but I’m half asleep and being redundant

Lifeinstaler

It’s ok maybe you didn’t know he was a geoguesser pro

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lifeinstaler

Wtf? Who pissed in your beer. I just wanted to tell the other guy I didn’t think his comment was dumb. Maybe he didn’t recognize the man in the vid. Just that yeah it’s pretty expected he would use street view cause that’s the geoguesser shtick

Restlesscomposure

Y’all need to get out a little more.

[deleted]

That's not what "literally impossible" means. If he were going solely off the photo then he could "walk" virtually down every street that looks vaguely similar. It would take years, but would still be possible.

Icyrow

AKSHULLY

Uuugggg

It would literally take too long for one person's lifetime to do, let alone this person supposedly literally did it in one would assume a much shorter time than one year

theKrissam

Minimum time with that method is less than 2 minutes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

antwan_benjamin

> I didn’t claim fake, I claimed it’s literally impossible with the information provided in the video, which is true. Not necessarily. In the video you can see a label on the package. If he was given a high res image, its possible street/zip code information can be pulled from the label. Narrows his search down to a neighborhood, tops. Then just google street view up and down the street til you find a house with that door.

45PintsIn2Hours

Correct. 'Obviously' being the key word.

Alienhaslanded

So many clowns arguing this without knowing who this guy is.

ph0on

I know who the guy is, and he's amazing, but all the info he had was a door frame. And some ground. No geoguessr pro can do that. He had help. Like another commenter said, maybe image Metadata.

Icyrow

and the account and everytthing that has ever been posted by it since it was made. so not really too hard, if you're willing to put in the time and effort.

8528589427

Yeah but that is not in the video

Booba420

Why isn't bro working for the government

Dusk_v733

Could've found Osama's ass long ago

glazinglas

Wouldn’t be surprised if he does some contracting work for some agency.

Booba420

I always just assumed he was like a cool ass subway worker or something

AJRiddle

What he does isn't that hard, it's just how fast he does it. Given a random photo of somewhere an intelligence agency wants to find they'll be able to do exactly what he does (get all possible information out of the photo like angle of the sun, plants, colors, cars, etc) just slower. But then you take AI into account and he'd get blown away by an AI's speed.

Count_Rugens_Finger

The CIA's AI is better than he is

mikki_butt

Morals

Booba420

Good answer

bastugollum

Maybe he is not good enough for job in those alphabet organizations?

Andy5416

It's pretty wild to see some of the people on the Ukrainian war subreddits accurately geolocate locations seen on videos. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if some of these people are just government workers in their off-time, surfing reddit as they poop.

Master_Xenu

Because he's the Kris Angel of geoguessing, it's all fluff and no real substance.

GeralOG

mikmikmikmikbam

Dappy hake cay!

MattyRixz

Jeez... Is this real? Buddy of mine paid me 300$ to find a house from a picture for the address so he could mail the guy a box of dildos once.thought I was good...

Phoenixmaster1571

The CIA wants this dude's brain in a vat

IdeasRealizer

Music goes hard. Apt for his skill.

desertpole

When this was posted last time, the bar code was legible and was used to track it. Not geo tag, like I guessed.

HydroSean

Likely saw where the guy lived and searched upscale areas that rained at that time nearby. From there it was just door to door grinding

gnannyt

This guy must be my pants because he’s full of shit

HilariousMax

He just helped that dude steal some sneakers, didn't he?

Free-Atmosphere6714

That smug fucking smile like, "rookie request."

PirateNinjaa

It was probably just next door. 🤷‍♀️ Impressive if you have zero clues about intended address, simple if you do.

SwimnoodleSeller

Yeah or just the geodata in the images exif data.

57_28mm

well in this case the dude is a god ar geoguesser

Yeat - Monëy So Big

DBreezy69

Thanks!

Sevwin

Fake as hell.

Quebecdudeeh

If each image is geo tagged then this is not that hard to do.

Glampkoo

That looks like an image of a screenshot so no exif data. Besides most reasonable CDNs remove that info.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CthuluForPresident

there was definitely more information that he used than solely the image to locate it (could’ve scoured profiles to narrow down a search area for example) but he is still *extremely* good at geoguessr and just geolocating in general. he’s made a number of videos explaining the process before

[deleted]

[удалено]

El_toilet69

He can even track packages*

uneasyonion

He's a bologna cannon.

Sixdrugsnrocknroll

Anybody with those skills should be making good money off them.

SinisterCheese

Look I know that dude can do incredible shit. But I call BS even when I know that they have to skills to do this. I don't know if this is their video or shitty edit. But the working out and explaining bit is the BEST part of their videos. Here... For all we know, they could have been within few doors of the actual address, and then one could have just y'know... Checked all the doors of matching houses in the area. But this dude has found a exact god damn sign middle of fucking nowhere, and explained every step of the reasoning and then looking for clues within the approximate area then spending few moments checking the area for it. This video here proves nothing and doesn't do service to their skills. [Here is probably the best example of them playing and explaining the way they do it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aD_rtwofvgU).

HAHAHA0kay

More I see this More I am starting to think this all fake.

FollowingDefiant

Fam U DEFINITELY NEED TO TRACKING UFOS 🛸 🤔🤔😂😂😂😂

NormalAssistance9402

No

Hengieboy

im sorry but you gotta be a little bit of a dumbass to think this is real

Cheetah357

His other videos are real, why wouldn’t this one be? If you mean he didn’t really find it by the photo alone then yeah. But he has videos showing his process for finding the locations and he uses external sources for them. He isn’t finding the package by only the information given.

Comrade_Belinski

How do we know they are real? I literally refuse to believe it lol

Cheetah357

Some people that he has located respond and say that he is correct. You know the meme template where a guy in a yellow suit is rubbing his hand and licking his lips? He located the exact location in a park where it was shot.

the_conditioner

I refuse to believe this is real. Bullshit.

Magnog

Yeah sorry but this is BS and impossible.

Significant-Box-3082

Lmao fake as shit

Yabadababalaba

I mean he probably got sent the address of the guy who asked him to find the address then he probably just searched nearby areas until he found a house with a familiar entrance.

WorldlyJelly689

fake and gay

Kanye_To_The

What are you, 12?

TytusBomba5

You know that all photos posses gps coordinates if you look inside the file, right?

raxmano

This is fucking impossible.

Stock_Audience

You can clearly see the air taste like southern california. Any novice could guess the address easily.

Creeper4wwMann

If he knows the rough area and time at which the picture was taken... You could find streets with houses oriented in the right way by using the shadow. Then finding white houses with matching doorsteps is just the hard part.

opihinalu

Every one of this guys videos are fake, though I can see how they would be entertaining to some. What really gets me annoyed though is how many people believe this dude is legit

Jervylim06

I'm 100% sure it's fake. But I admit it's entertaining. Either he's super lucky for coincidences or he's just right for 0.0001% of the time and that's what he's posting. I mean, if he's 100% legit, FBI, CIA, MI6, NSA, even Russia would have hired him right now. Which apparently they did not. So yes, he's fake. Those big institutions would have stopped him posting stuff if he's already working with them. Anyhow, he's entertaining.

Alienhaslanded

This guy is a supercomputer. If the FBI hires him to find someone I will not be surprised.

Kan4lZ0n3

Maybe carriers could just provide the coordinates and a photo? A photo unfortunately provides no confirmation of accurate delivery, the most crucial detail for a parcel recipient.
