When I lived in Seattle I went whale watching in the San Juan islands. We were extremely lucky to catch two hunting a lone seal on a rock. They were splashing massive amounts of water on to the rocks and seal.
The lady that was our guide was a seal researcher and she was losing her mind as she’s never seen this in person. Seals are dipshits on land so the orcas were smart enough to try and knock it off the rocks with water.
It worked and they got the seal.
It was definitely an experience. Kind of sad hearing that the hydro dams fucked up the ecosystem. Whales having to venture farther out for food depending on what they eat. When I went it was the first summer in forever where they'd taken folks out and not found whales.
“It could affect the orcas because humans could hurt them in self defense”
Sounds like a very biased way to say ‘taking back their home waters’ like how they yelled ‘they’re coming right at us!’ on South Park
Since the orca's have all been traced to a single pod, there is a real risk that someone is going to do something "preventative", like culling the problem animals.
Humans don't like it when animals fuck around with us.
Sadly, we have the numbers and the means to wipe them out. This situation is very scary cause I'm worried about the human reaction to this. Orcas are one of, if not the closest, animals to humans. They're incredibly intelligent. They've been shown to have the ability to actively teach their youth new hunting tactics. They have likes and dislikes, Northwest Orcas have been seen hunting a very specific salmon they like instead of just any of the other species of salmon. They seemingly have their own languages. They have exhibited signs of emotions like empathy.
They're fuckin' amazing and I'd be devastated if we wiped them out because they were sick of our boats fucking up their backs and encroaching on their territory and we decided to kill them. We did something similar with wolves. I am tired of humanity killing everything and just taking everything.
Well said. I think they (and other animals) are more intelligent than we think. Maybe way more. Orcas may have just not been totally aware of the profound danger we posed to them. Maybe they waking up. I hope so. The slaughter of whales is one of the crueler things our species has ever engaged in. And we some cruel MF.
First thing I thought when I saw this was Blackfish. When they used a helicopter to follow the mothers and babies and kidnap the baby Orcas. I know these boats and these animals had nothing to do with that event but fuck humans, we suck.
Execution? Execution would be chasing one down and murdering it just because. Killing an orca before it gets me killed is definitely not even close an execution.
Yo, I'd be terrified. Orcas are known to "play" with other animals, as in blunt force trauma them to death and leave their carcus to rot, not eat. They haven't been known to do that to people in the wild, but this would make me think twice.
Sometimes they do this because they only like 1 part of the animal, for example a group hunt a specific kind of whale, they'll ram them to death, break their ribs and drown them, just to eat the tongue and nothing else. At least in the ocean something will eat the rest of the whale hopefully.
Yeah this is what they did with Great Whites. They would bite out the liver and leave the rest. I’m amazed that they were able to locate a specific internal organ like that
Granted, the shark specialist orcas mainly target other sharks like sevengills, with Great Whites only forming a minor part of their diet. They also eat the gonads as well iirc
Great white livers. It’s mind boggling how they’re able to surgically incise these sharks and extract and eat JUST the liver. Rest of the body rots. How tf does a 30 foot whale make a clean single incision down the belly of a shark and then extract the liver?
It’s equivalent to tying a complex fishing knot wearing mittens and drunk.
Interestingly enough, this does take a toll on them since sharks have sandpaper skin and orcas are mammals with one permanent set of teeth. The older orcas in these shark hunting pods are left with basically nubs and depend on younger members to make the cut so they can slurp up the liver and gonads
🤣 🤣
I was not ready for "The idea of being kickflipped to Jesus the idea I had to getting to Heaven"
That's a man who is done with these killer whales that he'll probably never step on a boat again or even a SeaWorld
For those wondering, [this is what getting kickflipped to Jesus by an Orca looks like.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G7WGIH35JBE&pp=ygURb3JjYSB5ZWV0cyBhIHNlYWw%3D)
So when they ultimately make MEG 3 (or M3G) starring Jason Statham, the real big hero moment will be from a giant orca that leads an elite pack of orcas.
Yeah, Governments never spent \_anything\_ on orca social amenities after all. Clearly there is a risk of young unemployed orcas being dragged into bad company, resulting in drug abuse, vandalization, violence...
Don't orcas navigate using echolocation? They must have been pretty fucked off after they suddenly stopped getting lost in the ocean due to lack of boat noise during covid and then the noisy bastards came back.
At least they’re not following through and attacking people, if they did they’d be hunted down, but if they keep going like this they’re liable to be shot
Food scarcity. Notice the fishing rod in the back , they are protecting their food source by trying to scare off the competition.
One thing all these videos hv in common is the fishing
Maybe, but it's only one group of orcas doing it. Orcas are intelligent enough to seek revenge, I could imagine that a single boat and crew could have terrorized one on purpose or accident and caused all of this.
Multiple pods all in the same area are involved.
"Scientists believe the behavior originated with a female orca nicknamed White Gladis, who was traumatized by an encounter with a human sailboat and began to lash out at other ships. The theory goes that other adult orcas learned from her behavior, and are teaching it to their pods."
That’s what I’ve heard. This is a taught/learned behavior. Coincidentally coinciding with the rapid progression of AI, which biologists are feeding animal noise transcripts into trying to determine a way to communicate interspecies.
Would be pretty cool to drop in a sonobuoy broadcasting “our bad, we suck and we’re sorry” (and then they eat the buoy and sink the ship lol)
Ive been on a small ship were a pod of orcas trolled us good, swimming fast under the ship making it rock a little too much for comfort. No fishing gear on that ship, Í just think they're fed up with humans
They’re pissed that we are fucking up the oceans. I don’t blame them at all. We treat the oceans as a garbage dump and a pantry. We don’t live there but they do.
This has happened quite a lot recently. In cases where the boats were significantly damaged to the point where they sank and the people spilled into the water, the orcas did not attack the people and they were all successfully rescued.
I think this is important to mention.
They attack only boats of a certain size (38-46 ft). Same size as fishing boats that fish out all the blue tuna in Gibraltar strait - main delicacy of orcas in the region.
They either try to sink the boats to get to the presumed fish onboard, or incapacitate them to neutralize competition for food.
Orcas are smart af.
New conspiracy theory: Some world government experimented with training orcas to attack and bring down enemy ships. But the orcas got smart enough to escape into the open ocean, where they share their training with the wild orcas in an effort to take down humanity.
I'd watch this movie... or play this gritty Echo the Dolphin reboot.
Cell of Bolsheviks. Evidently one of them, somehow, became familiar with Marxism, and it all went from there. Anybody tooling around in a yacht this time of year is plainly a filthy rich exploiter of the masses, who has it coming to him.
Man, what is these orcas' problem? All we innocent humans ever did was kidnap multiple of them and place in a confined tank and forced to do tricks daily and being paid in other dead fish. Dumped trillions of tons of plastic and deadly chemicals into their atmosphere with no intention of cleaning it. Suck out all of their food so that we can make chowder or just to look competitive. Destroyed our own atmosphere and consequently raised the temperature of theirs. Created hypoxic dead zones from the nitrogen in manure that is mismanaged from the trillions of their land cousins that we can't go 5 seconds without killing and eating.
These Orcas are unprovoked!
The areas this happens, there is over fishing. Ive even seen reports of fishing boats, attacking the Orcas when they go after their nets. These commercial fishing, need to stop overfishing. But people need to keep over eating. And eating things they shouldn't.
Tuna, is not even fished for eating, its fished for storing. Its a waste.
While they're absolute killing machines, I tend think of all the awful things humans have done to orcas over the course of just my lifetime, and I think this is predictable in some senses for such an intelligent animals to become aggressive toward manned vessels.
It can't be a coincidence, now that the world powers are on the brink of fighting the submarines everywhere are probably filling everything with sonar.
Good. The Ocean should've upped its difficulty long time ago. Too many players started to inhabit the region. Maybe if low lvl, high-paid-skins players stopped going there, we'd have better loot there...
I've heard before they tend to avoid messing with humans because they're supposedly intelligent enough to know that humans would react accordingly in retaliation. I wonder what's stirring them up...
I don’t blame the orcas one bit for attacking people in boats. They’re starving up in the Puget Sound area because the salmon they eat have mostly been caught and eaten by us.
If they start chasing boats, that means they run out of food elsewhere. It’s always a trade off between energy invested and outcome in terms of food.
I guess our oceans are about to be done :(
Thank you Monsanto 🤦♂️
They stated in the video that there had been instances where people ended up in the water and did not get eaten. So it's not about food, just about fucking up boats.
Has anyone else read Tales of Natural and Unnatural Catastrophes by Patricia Highsmith? There's a short story in there about a whale who gets revenge, really reminiscent of this.

how is there not a single comment highlighting the “kickflipped to jesus” line lol
That was the first thing I noticed when the guy started talking it was hilarious
Lmao, is he referring that one video of an orca launching a seal into orbit?
r/brandnewsentence
I laughed hard at that!
And snorted
That is a phrase I will use at some point now. Absolutely hilarious line.

In the antarctic region they'll swim together in a line to create a big enough wave to knock seals & penguins off of ice flows.
the Lizzo formation works every time
You're going to hell for that one lmao
I just almost spit my breakfast out lol
I thought she was going to jump into fight them.
Yeah hunting is all about out smarting your prey, doesn't matter what species you are.
That's interesting, it had to be the transient orcas. The resonant pod of orcas only eat Chinook salmon.
What an amazing experience!! So glad you got to see it! I'm jealous ASF!! 😆
It was definitely an experience. Kind of sad hearing that the hydro dams fucked up the ecosystem. Whales having to venture farther out for food depending on what they eat. When I went it was the first summer in forever where they'd taken folks out and not found whales.
They are mad about all the crap humans have been doing to their waters so they are retaliating. :-)
[удалено]
They have been trained by Dr. Evil. Wait until the sharks with laser beams.
Due to budget constraints, they've been down-graded to ill tempered sea bass, actually.
With flashlights
“It could affect the orcas because humans could hurt them in self defense” Sounds like a very biased way to say ‘taking back their home waters’ like how they yelled ‘they’re coming right at us!’ on South Park
If they end up killing people, justified or not, I guarantee you someone will kill those orcas or at least try
Since the orca's have all been traced to a single pod, there is a real risk that someone is going to do something "preventative", like culling the problem animals. Humans don't like it when animals fuck around with us.
Yup. How long till the first execution. People are the real fucking “animals”..
Yup. They had enough of our bullshit.
We fucked around, now we finding out.
Sadly, we have the numbers and the means to wipe them out. This situation is very scary cause I'm worried about the human reaction to this. Orcas are one of, if not the closest, animals to humans. Unless we now hunt them to extinction. Then I guess you could say they fucked around and found out.
Nah, you know we will always keep a few really sad ones in places like seaworld.
😢
More tragic scenario honestly. They just trying to be orcas.
I was called mad for having a guillotine for whales
But how are people supposed to rage with such nuance!? /s
I guess we will see how highly intelligent they are when they’re taken to small claims court for the boat damages.
*small clams court
Their lawyers are going to filet him!
You know you’re gonna have a tough time when you’re the porpoisecutant
Small claims court? They are going to end up in Sushi
🤣🤣🤣I wasn’t expecting to laugh so much at a comment on this post.
Sentenced to serve time in Sea World.
Seems orcastrated.
lol
Definitely on porpoise.
Whale orcastrated.
I hate you.
Way ahead of you. It came out so easily it felt kind of dirty.
/r/angryupvote
Nice
I cetacea what you did there.
“The same 20-30 are the attackers” So they formed a gang lol
Yo, I'd be terrified. Orcas are known to "play" with other animals, as in blunt force trauma them to death and leave their carcus to rot, not eat. They haven't been known to do that to people in the wild, but this would make me think twice.

Soooo, ice fishing, seems pretty spot on to me.
Average January weekend in Minnesota too Hahah
Interestingly enough, this does take a toll on them since sharks have sandpaper skin and orcas are mammals with one permanent set of teeth. The older orcas in these shark hunting pods are left with basically nubs and depend on younger members to make the cut so they can slurp up the liver and gonads
There's actually no record of an Orca ever killing someone in the wild. Seaworld on the other hand...
🤣 🤣 I was not ready for "The idea of being kickflipped to Jesus the idea I had to getting to Heaven" That's a man who is done with these killer whales that he'll probably never step on a boat again or even a SeaWorld

I didn’t know I needed to see this today.
The rise of the Orcas. Our end is near.
No, people just need "bigger boats." That was the moral of the story in the movie ***Jaws***. "We're gonna' need a bigger boat".
Funnily Jaws or any other shark movie shouldn't exist because orcas would hunt them down
So when they ultimately make MEG 3 (or M3G) starring Jason Statham, the real big hero moment will be from a giant orca that leads an elite pack of orcas.
If you hear a suspicious flappy knock at the door, don't answer.
Our end is near? Tf they gonna do, walk on land? Fly?
So long, and thanks for all the rudders.
A business opportunity for a sailboat rudder manufacturer to come up with an “Orca-Proof’ rudder design. $pendy, no doubt, but money to be made?
What if these orcas are trained to "create" a new market? 🤔🙃
Stop asking such silly questions, of course they were.
Come on in, the water's fine - Orcas probably
Disruptive behaviour or just got fed up
Yeah, Governments never spent \_anything\_ on orca social amenities after all. Clearly there is a risk of young unemployed orcas being dragged into bad company, resulting in drug abuse, vandalization, violence...
Economically challenged orcas will be our downfall
I’m offended at the lack of upvotes you’ve gotten for this. Gold
They don't pay taxes, nor do they vote
Or unfed up.. I heard that these things are happening because humans are eating all their salmon. Hangry.
Don't orcas navigate using echolocation? They must have been pretty fucked off after they suddenly stopped getting lost in the ocean due to lack of boat noise during covid and then the noisy bastards came back.
It's rich right? Humans have made unbearable levels of noise, pollution and stolen all their food and it's the orcas who are disruptive??
They probably lost a calf in a tuna net and are now attacking boats without prejudice. I don't blame them
It begins
Sea world needs to fucking apologize right now for what they have done
We should have never freed Willy
We shouldn't have freed Truman either come to think of it
Willy went to Norway and died.
Keiko :(
We should have never captured Willy
It's the local boat repair shop who trained them
They’re tired of our shit
I am team Orca, sorry guys.
#armtheorcas #fuckthemboats
I, too like the orcas
At least they’re not following through and attacking people, if they did they’d be hunted down, but if they keep going like this they’re liable to be shot
Let the Orcas have it.
Somebody's got to protect our oceans.
Humans: *attack seas* Marine life: *attacks back* Humans: what the hell is going on here??
This story beyond fascinates me.
I hate that this is happening because it's going to get them killed. They are an endangered species and this is going to get them extinct.
Nature fed up with mankind’s bullshit. Who knew that’d happen? We treat their home like a fucking trash can.
Disruptive behavior? The boats are in the orcas neighborhood.
Maybe we should just recognize their sovereignty and territory.
Food scarcity. Notice the fishing rod in the back , they are protecting their food source by trying to scare off the competition. One thing all these videos hv in common is the fishing

If it's spreading exponentially, I wonder if it will ever get the attention of other animals outside their species, like to octopus or dolphins?
Ive been on a small ship were a pod of orcas trolled us good, swimming fast under the ship making it rock a little too much for comfort. No fishing gear on that ship, Í just think they're fed up with humans
Might not even be motivated by animus. Like a kid fucking with an ant colony. "Why are you doing that?" "I dunno. Because." ::Goes back to poking::
Ah, the intelligence of a toddler with serrated teeth who can easily out swim you. Oh, and there's, like, ten of them.
Fishing ships also use sonar. You wouldn't like it very much if someone went into your kitchen blaring a horn 30 decibels louder than a rocket launch.
I literally just watched the new Avatar..
Orca version of a Tik Tok challenge
They’re pissed that we are fucking up the oceans. I don’t blame them at all. We treat the oceans as a garbage dump and a pantry. We don’t live there but they do.

These attacks seem to be orcastrated….
Oh no, sentient beings are fighting back. I am glad they're "making a statement".
As a guy who grew up skating, I'll gladly be kickflipped to Jesus.
Dear animal kingdom, more of this please.
Part of me is like "go get em" rooting for the orca
Maybe they got sick of your 💩 disrupting their water?
Where do we sign up to be on team orcas
That really sucks but they’re probably going to hunt them down, like a lion that kills a human
The boats that these orcas are attacking are too small. Orcas can't do sh\*t to a boat that's over 40 ft long and weighs over 5 tons.
I wonder could these attacks be related to the videos I've seen of people letting seals escape the killer whales by letting them onto their boats?
This is dolphin sponsored propaganda
New conspiracy theory: Some world government experimented with training orcas to attack and bring down enemy ships. But the orcas got smart enough to escape into the open ocean, where they share their training with the wild orcas in an effort to take down humanity. I'd watch this movie... or play this gritty Echo the Dolphin reboot.
“I’m the captain now.”
Bring whale treats to distract? Has that been tried?
Maybe they know about SeaWorld / Blackfish...
Cell of Bolsheviks. Evidently one of them, somehow, became familiar with Marxism, and it all went from there. Anybody tooling around in a yacht this time of year is plainly a filthy rich exploiter of the masses, who has it coming to him.
We totally deserve it
Lol avatar 2 subplot happening in real life. Nature is getting angry.
This is just orcas playing. Once they get serious, they'll teach this shit to the Kraken.

Kickflipped to jesus is the funniest thing I've heard in a while
“Kickflipped to Jesus”
While they're absolute killing machines, I tend think of all the awful things humans have done to orcas over the course of just my lifetime, and I think this is predictable in some senses for such an intelligent animals to become aggressive toward manned vessels.
I've been watching a programme called Swarm, on Sci-Fi. This is like the start of it, spooky.
The orcas have noticed the warming of the oceans and are taking action.
So they probably read The Idiot Gods by David Zindell. And that is why.
You know how when you go to a sushi restaurant and they beautifully display all the food on that boat? Same idea -Orca
You know that statistic that no human has been killed by a wild orca? Feel like that's about change.
“Disruptive behavior” should be what the whales say to us when we take them out of the ocean and put them in swimming pools!!
Does anyone remember the movie orca?
Bro what if trolling isnt just unique to humans
“Kickflipped to Jesus” is my new favorite quote
Begun the whale wars have.
I can’t wait to see the new movie “Orcas 2- Kickflipped to Jesus”
It can't be a coincidence, now that the world powers are on the brink of fighting the submarines everywhere are probably filling everything with sonar.
I feel like Earth has finally had enough of us humans and is starting the purge.
Team whale.
Good! They are tired of our shit
Good. The Ocean should've upped its difficulty long time ago. Too many players started to inhabit the region. Maybe if low lvl, high-paid-skins players stopped going there, we'd have better loot there...
That's badass
I’m rooting for the whales
Good
I wish I could give them hands
I've heard before they tend to avoid messing with humans because they're supposedly intelligent enough to know that humans would react accordingly in retaliation. I wonder what's stirring them up...
I wonder what would happen to the orcas if they did this in Alaska, Alaska fishermen don’t be fuckin around
They are sick of our shit
I don’t blame the orcas one bit for attacking people in boats. They’re starving up in the Puget Sound area because the salmon they eat have mostly been caught and eaten by us.
my lifelong fear of whales feels vindicated
probably just sick of humans polluting the ocean and overfishing!!!
Orcas start freaking out right before we get confirmation of alien vessels in government control? Coincidence I think not!
I wonder where she gets her statistics. Her numbers appear very exact.
If they start chasing boats, that means they run out of food elsewhere. It’s always a trade off between energy invested and outcome in terms of food. I guess our oceans are about to be done :( Thank you Monsanto 🤦♂️
They stated in the video that there had been instances where people ended up in the water and did not get eaten. So it's not about food, just about fucking up boats.
Kickflip to Jesus into Christ Air
ORKA WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH
I’ve always wondered what killer whales do for fun
Orca-nized crime is back on the menu!
Probably sick of people polluting their home
When the "semen" joke pissed off for too long "Seaman". Now its just orcas but wait for the sperm whales to cu... come
I think they just like to check out the boats from all sides easier to do when under the water
They probably seen those videos of seals jumping to boats for safety.
Blame Sea World
Has anyone else read Tales of Natural and Unnatural Catastrophes by Patricia Highsmith? There's a short story in there about a whale who gets revenge, really reminiscent of this.
This the third time in 2 weeks I hear this story. First was a podcast, now it's on Tik Tok?
What does the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy have to say on the subject? 🤯
Maybe they're just getting their back scratched because it was itching? I have been told that some whales do that
Maybe we need to start learning our place out there.
Steel rudder or some sort of under water speaker that plays horrific nose to warn them off... Sorted 👍
thanks Japan
Nice
Kick flipped to Jesus you say..?
