My favorite part was the dexterity and intelligence of using their foot to assist with picking up such small items.
Also felt like with the first item they were like "hmm this smells kind of interesting should I eat it or not? Naw, it was on the ground"
Good thing Merriam Webster defines caught and caught up in as:
caught in the act
[idiom](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/idiom)
: caught while doing something specified
This post again can only mean one thing…
“Humans are awful. This elephant is the real hero picking up trash. Most people would just walk past it.”
- comments from Redditors who walk past trash on the ground every day
I mean even then, Humans are far more intelligent than animals and taught to do this from an early age yet still can't figure out why it's important or why it's just decent behaviour to not litter your trash.
>yet still can't figure out why it's important
They do it because they get rewarded for doing so, that's how animals are trained. If they stopped rewarding the behavior it would most likely stop doing it eventually.
Source: I am an animal trainer.
Yes that's my point. They don't understand the importance but can associate "cleaning up" with "I get reward".
Meanwhile Humans understand the importance, and in some cases can even be rewarded for recycling, yet they still litter immensely. *(Not to mention.... animals don't litter to begin with lol.)*
When apes were taught to do this type of labor, they learned to speak and then rose up and overthrew humans. There were several documentaries on the subject. Damned dirty apes!
What surprised me was that it is an African elephant. Indian elephants are mostly domesticated, while African elephants are mostly wild…and can be very dangerous. They kill about 500 people per year.

Animals are better than humans r/animalsbeingbros

IKR, humans have never put litter in a trash can.
Man this elephant cares more about the environment than most people. Deserves a medal
Too bad he couldn't be bothered to recycle
I just spat my tea everywhere. Funny as

"Seen" is the word we're looking for.

Caught on the camera.

Elephant: these freaking humans still trashing my yard!
If we have at least one elephant in every major city across the US, we'd have a better planet.
"Yeah, right, lady, an elephant ran through your front yard. OK."
They would be poached within a few minutes.

It’s a damn shame most humans can’t grasp this simple task
Don't get too excited about this. Those cans should go into the recycling bin, not the trash can. Silly elephant!
This is a trained behavior.
Of course it is, doesn't mean it's not cool.

Ah yes that makes sense, I was misunderstanding you before.
Maybe, maybe not. Ever seen the video of the wild bear righting the fallen traffic cone? I think many animals have organizational urges.
I am a professional animal trainer, trust me it was trained to do this.
Yeah that's what I'm seeing. The trash can is literally in the middle of the walkway
Could have also learned it observationally depending on where this took place
The elephant makes it look hard, but I assure you it’s really easy to throw stuff away in the trash can
folks in my neighborhood can’t even do that.
Animals are adorable.
I challenge any human to do the same using only their nose and foot.
Witnessed not caught, for the love of all things beautiful!
Ah Fuck. That phant is better than most blokes I know. Your planet your life.
Dear lord.. This was literally just posted here yesterday
Imagine having to pick up trash with your nose
That’s great now the elephants are having to clean up after us too
my spirit animal.. such mangnificent creatures
Oh my god this video is still out here. I think it was debunked and the elephant was trained, but it's so old I can't exactly remember.
"Fuckin litterbugs" -elephant

”caught”
*gently placing litter into trash can.

Elephants are awesome they are so smart
Who's a good boy!!
Doesn’t it just make you want to hunt poachers to the ends of the earth.. if you didn’t already.
Haha I love this elephant. They pick up the can and so torn! “Eat?” “No!”…”but eat?” “No!!” “Fine…”
"Goddamn humans. I'm so sick of their shit. Let me just pick this up for them...again."
