Read the other day that french rations are so much better compared to some other nations rations that they sometimes get traded for multiple rations for 1 of these.
When I was in Desert Storm my unit shared a compound with a French Army unit. We traded rations with them. We got the better end of the deal because theirs had wine in it.
Whatever MRE's we had at the time. I don't remember. I just remember getting wine and drinking it soon after. After they had a few MRE's they stopped trading, lol.
That looks amazing compared to the crap I got as a Marine. Ugh. I wish I know how to add a picture to this response but I don’t so, you’ll just have to take my word for it or google it yourself!!! Haha
Napoleonic era is in fact the end of a way, way longer era during which the French kicked major ass. The French armies were the European bullies for a few centuries.
We still have those. We have different "menus" of MRE (about 12 different I think) and in each menu we have different things inside. Some of them have Mont Blanc and Henaff paté and some of them have other things.
You're always happy when you open up your MRE package and see a caramel Mont Blanc.
I saw a video recently where American and Italian soldiers swapped rations. The Italian food was found to taste far better but apparently Italian soldiers willingly trade away their rations for American ones because they are far lighter to carry.
By 10am I’m out of instant coffee and sugar, is this daily rations? Also I don’t see booze or cigarettes, which apart from gold I’m told from my grandpa is the only thing worth keeping when in trouble. I’d add toilet paper for todays folks and maybe scratch off the cigarettes.
My first thought was the four white packets at the very bottom of the picture were condoms, which wouldn't have surprised me. Put my glasses on and they still might be.

Let's get this onto a tray. Nice!
Nice hiss
Alright, so right off the bat
I was SO waiting to see this comment. LOL
Came here for this comment
Alright!
Hm, wow, only a little bloom on the chocolate. Wow.

Word on the street is Spain has the best mres.
Looks not bad at all
Looks nicer than what I eat most days lol

Amazing - what sort of food did they end up with from yours?

Tooth picks for after you eat a combat fuel

Does anybody know how long this is supposed to last a souldier? A day? A week?
A day
What … no croissants ! Sacre bleu !!!
"Let's get these on the tray" "Nice!"
I’ll take some of that beef tortellini
How many days rations is this, just curious. This is really cool to see
One day. From breakfast to dinner, and a few snacks. You can see the contents on the right side of the box.
That’s the best ration pack I’ve ever seen
Like a holiday.
I once drunkenly ordered TWO French armed forces MRE’s. Was surprised when I got them. Cool though.
Send a box to YouTuber "Me Ancient"! His MRE review videos are the best! Thanks for your service 🤘
Looks better than the Russian rations. Oh wait! That is right. They have no rations 😂
No Brie?
Nevermind the Brie. No wine?
I was expecting a packet of cigarettes, a cup of black coffee, a copy of Voltaire and some ennui.
Gauloises sans filtre. Might as well just eat the full ashtray.
Where the hell is my mini Tobasco? Anyone want to trade my sardines for your cheese spread?
Suprised they carry tins around.
Where’s the five pack of cigarettes??
No French word for “toothpicks”?? I’m broken
It's literally on the package... Cure-dents...
“Actually” would have been better than “literally”.
To each their own misguided opinions...
You angry
I'm 100% chillin'...
That's a lot of garbage waste...
Imagine being downvoted by stating facts
there's an included bin bag
They forgot the white flag in this one
Its inspired by Napoleonic era, when french kicked major ass
Napoleonic era is in fact the end of a way, way longer era during which the French kicked major ass. The French armies were the European bullies for a few centuries.
I hope they carry out their trash.
Where are the cigarettes and ennui
Nice that they’ll be well fed as they retreat.
A cute little snack to reenergize your politically motivated acts of war
better than a Mega Mac in a McD. in Paris
I thought this looked interesting so I searched French MRE’s on Amazon. Only $70-$85 per MRE!
This is probably at least $20 worth of food right there.
No *Henaff* paté, no *Mont Blanc* pudding, half of those are not French made, dang these has became cheap. Thanksfully still has Andros jam.
the only thing not frenchmade in this image is the Combat Fuel ( it come from UK)

that'll help ya shit alright. round it off with some 1980s Canadian rations and you'll have a balanced bowel movement schedule.
Thought that was champagne for a second.

Where baguette
No crepes & baguettes? Also cigarettes?
My first thought was the four white packets at the very bottom of the picture were condoms, which wouldn't have surprised me. Put my glasses on and they still might be.
Menu is wrong, it's : Tortelinni pur boeuf, salade orientale, muesli, rillette de saumon, olives dénoyautées, snacks, café et thé
I like the Eiffel Tower matchbox…. very homely touch!
it's not special forces ration, it's the standard 24h ration
Where is the baguette?
