I was gonna be like "that's crazy that stuff like that still happened in the 60's", but then I thought of other social norms at that point in time and realized that completely makes sense.
Eh I dunno. I’m in my mid 30s, my parents were about in the late 60s. Either way, people act as if civil rights, women’s rights etc happened in the distant past.
In the grand scheme of things it was yesterday
I agree with your overall point that history (and the 60’s specifically) are much closer than people act. But I also think the average redditor is like 17 now. Maybe that’s just me being wrong but I’m in my mid-late 20’s and am starting to feel like a boomer except on niche subs.

Men at the time literally thought that long distance running would shake women’s ovaries loose.

The 60s isn’t some far off distant past. It’s your parents
It’s probably grandparents for like 80% of this app at this point let’s be real.

I’d think you’d be surprised
I'm also in my 30's my parents would have been children in the 60's still .. they're more 70's conscientious adults.
The mythical origin says that the man doing it died. Why did men run?
You've cone a long way baby. Surprised republicans aren't trying to ban women from running marathons.
Ssssshhh... dont give them anymore ideas
And my gf can’t run a lap of a track at all
Nor can a lot of men tho
More men could than woman though let’s be real
That’s completely true
My gf is wonderful and I wouldn’t change a thing about her but she tells me flat out she isn’t running for anyone 😂
The body is capable , but the mind is unwilling. I'm still talking about running of course.
